  1. I love flying my stack. I have 5 6'. When I was a kid my dad had 11. They got spread out around the family but I ended up with 5 and its lovely. I have 3 that work really well together. Red Green Red. Not much of a colour scheme but they fly really nice. My spars are from 1980. 3 of my sails are from 1983 and 2 are from 1995. If you look after your stackers they will last and last. Such a cool Kite. always a pleasure to fly.
  2. Do you folks have pursuit racing on the card? At our recent winter meet we had a pursuit racing tournament. Lots of quick fire races. All head to head. everyone gets a clean start. I know there is a lot of waiting around but the races are epic. We haven't done that for years. I am so glad we did. We had great marshalls and it worked out really well.
  3. What are break lines? Doesn't sound like anything you would want on a power kite.
  4. Thankls for caring guys. The group is going well. Folks from all over now. Most welcome to join us. You know where we are.
  5. Typical. Been feeling like crap for weeks and finally my cold has gone away and the wind blows and IT RAINS. Bugger.
  6. Thanks to everyone. we have a few members now. There is no grand vision for this group. At the moment its just somewhere to talk. We will see what happens as time goes by.
  7. My buddy still rides a set of original Peter Lynn bigfoot tyres with those early PL aluminum rims. They are kind of mid sized, not as wide as my plastic asymetrics but wider than a barrow rim. The tyres they had back then were far superior to the basic ones we get now. They had a distinct side wall and crown. Paul's tyres were fitted in 1996 and were ridden hard for many years before he got them. They balance very well and have a very wide foot print without the bulk of a beach racer . A guy recently joined our scene with a 1998 PL bigfoot with the same wheels. His buggy has amazing low rolling resistance. It is true the standard Pl Bigfoot buggy these days has bigfoot lights but it wasn't always like that.
  8. Progression. I remember that. Seems a long time ago.
  9. I was out launching and setting up today. Didn't quite get a kite in my hands bt it was nice until the weather packed up.
  10. woohoo. there are 2 of us now. Not quite a group but we have to start somewhere. I was out on the beach today helping my girl with her land boarding. Just as we got to the wide bit of the beach the wind turned and rolled down the hill and then it rained. It was very nice until then.
  11. Hi there. Sounds pretty terrible. Nice you can still fly. I have stopped driving and am retired my self. I still have my license but its irresponsible to drive on the meds I take. MY family get me to the beach and my Girl has taken up land boarding so even though I don't get my buggy out so much I go out with her and have a fly and help her out. Its always nice even if I am just setting up and having a short fly while she is having a break. Do you do the facebook? Its just a place to brag about the good rides and talk about it. 12. Hi I have started a wee group of facebook for Power Kiters with Cancer. No plans or vision yet but if anyone is interested in sharing your stories feel Free. Log in | Facebook Its all open at the moment but it can be secured better if people are not comfortable with that. I just thought it would be nice to chat to other kiters who are on the same journey as me. There are 2 of us now. If you know anyone please pass on the link.

  14. Hey folks. My daughter has just bought her first landboard and is about to start her learning curve. She has been flying kites all her life, ridden a buggy spent plenty of time hanging around the land kiting circuit. She will initially start with my buggy quads and move into de-power as the gear is accumulated. Any tips for her first few rides?
  15. For the last 5 years I have been on the look out for an old zip tip 5m peel. One came up on an auction site and I lost out on it as I was distracted in the middle of a bidding battle. Although they don't quite do what the new kites do old 2 liners are still a lot of fun to buggy with. I have a speed wing and stack of flexis for extreme winds and I still use my old 3.8 peel sometimes. The lack of brakes and de power is no burden but some times you do have to ride out some big moments while you are waiting for the kite to get out of the power. For a short time the 5m UL peel was the king of traction kites. Several guys on the circuit had them and I used them a bunch of times. All these years later I missed out on mine and the other guy got it for 65 bucks. Anyone else use the old school 2 liners?
