In short, if you live near Perth;
You can buy a buggy and kites from either Briskites, or Kite Power. Both are based on the east coast, but both will ship to anywhere in Australia. Just go to their websites and have a look.
If you want lessons, I can show you the basics. We just need some wind.
We went out last Saturday. There was a good breeze when we got there and I managed to equal my best speed on the third run while still feeling there was more there. Then the wind backed off a fraction and the 4.4 reactor just didn't want to power up. This has been the story of my summer, just never quite enough wind. I need a slightly bigger kite. Jo managed to get her hand stung by a bee while we were putting the buggies together, which made holding the handles a bit difficult for her.
Next weekend we are going on holiday for a couple of months, so we won't be around until summer is well and truly over.
Knee and elbow pads are essential on lake walyungup. If you are on a board I would suggest gloves as well. (Helmet is essential everywhere).
Don't worry about sharing space, there is heaps of room as long as you are watching what is in front of you.
It works for all winds. There is enough space that you can go in any direction. Just make sure you walk down to the far end where the green container is, that is where the space is.
