  1. ^^^ windrose for Cooktown in June 3:00pm
  2. I think you need to differentiate between QLD and FNQ. Don't want to stir up any political mess here but there is a massive difference between Cooktown and Brisvegas - wind wise Check this Any other state is lucky to get 20-30% of a fluffy fart. Having said that VIC isn't all that bad either when the northerlies ckick in.
  3. You can use the glue in the kite repair kit that comes with most kites. Just clean out the area that you need to glue and glue the valve back on. Make sure you put some pressure on it while it is drying. Workd fine for me. If you don't have any glue ask a kite mate one of em should have it, or go to the beach and ask around. I would assume many would keep the repair kit in the kite bag or car. That should be easy to fix. Regarding silicon sealant?? Not sure and I wouoldn't try it simply because it is a sealant and not a glue, I assume it wouldn't be adhesive enough.
  4. ..yep, i've seen that dude sneeking around the car park an offering candy to kids Cheers, I'll have a chat to him next time I'm at the apex park end.
  5. I never used boots for kiting but when I used to wakeboard and crash I always lost he board instantly, so it possibly could do more damage in certain situations especially if the wrong foot stays in the boot. I assume overall it could give more support for the ankle while cruising. But then again tape and an ankle brace may just do the same trick - if not better. I will tape the ankle and put an ankle brace on will see how that feels, if not good I'll try using my surfboard.
  6. Just wondering if anyone has any advice/experience in regards to injury prevention when riding with boots vs straps. I've been off the water for close to 2 months now after a severe sprain to my ankle. Have been doing rehab exercises and feel that I can try to get back on the water again. I've been thinking about getting a board with boots to prevent any further injury as it provides a bit more support to the ankle. Is it worth it or should I just tape the ankle and take it easy for a while riding with straps? I'm riding a twin tip by the way not a surf board. Cheers,
  7. Looks like fun and a bit of can't say no to that. Will let you know if and how long I can make it. cheers, jev
  8. ...so what's this event about? Fun ride/hangout or is it a comp?
  9. It's not just flat and toxic but you can get some nice injuries when you stack you landing in ankle deep water. It's my 5th week off the water now after severely spraining my ankle at altona and videos like this help me stay sane. Cheers for the vid!
  10. The above are good guidelines and in most cases this should work a treat. The switchblade should be fairly easy to relaunch compared to some C kites, so you should really not have any problems. Practice the above a couple of times in shallow water to get a feel for it, it will be much easier and you’ll be able to focus on sn improving the relaunch technique without having to swim.
