Actually I've got worse.
You know the day you get your POV camera, you film everything, then realise you don't know anything about filming, editing or understanding that what is interesting to you, means absolutely faff all to anybody else? I got lots.
These days it's just the wife giving me a nosh. (I wish).

1/100 the air density on earth which means that the wind would need to be 10 times as strong with the same kite. Kinetic energy is velocity squared.
So if your combo needs 10mph you would need 100mph on Mars. 20mph on Earth would need 200mph on Mars etc.
So yes, possible. But a ripped suit, smashed helmet etc. would be a worry. But at least it won't be crowded
If just wet, then back in the bag.
But if covered in cow shit, normal for me, then they need cleaning. Half an hour hung up then a quick blast with a hair dryer or air line does the trick. Get cow shit on recent Ozone kites, it'll stain if you don't remove. Especially on light coloured panels.
Downside? Ours is a weekend car and kept under cover so no real problems. Came with loads and fixed most now. But rust is the biggy, but get a good one and look after them and stay on top of any rust and you'll be fine. Ours is a 1275cc on a single carb so easy to tune up too.
Upside is most parts are fairly cheap. Electrics you can understand. Easy to fix in most cases. And doing 60mph on the country roads makes you feel like a WRC rally driver
Seriously, the grins more than make up for any problems.
If you've never owned or driven one, I can recommend at least trying one.
Also to bear in mind. Most forecast model predict wind speeds at 10m (33ft) above ground level but their surface roughness models are not as complex as real life.
All proper wind meters at airports, military airfields etc. are also at 10m above ground level.
So you measuring at 1.5 - 2.0m isn't going to cut it really. Wind speed will be higher at 10m but should also be more laminar, I.e. less turbulence.
If you take the forecast 10m wind speed and multiply by 0.71 that should give you the 1.5m wind speed in very open terrain/open water, 0.6 for those areas with a few trees etc. and about 0.45 for really built up areas. As a guide though.
And just to be clear, METARs give the average speed and direction over a two minute period leading up to the report plus highest gust in the 10 mins before report time if more than 10knts over the reported 2min average.

Went night flying last night with my dinky kite on LED lights. Shouldn't really as I'm recovering from a wrist op. but it was blowing, couldn't resist.
Got totally spanked, must remember on handles, just let go and let the killers take it.
End result. Busted little finger, broken specs, sore shoulder and mud covered everything.
I'm taking the rest of winter off...
