  1. LOL... Yup too funny - the ride in that buggy spurred me into action last night, just didn't think the world of buggying was this small. The search continues
  2. Still available?
  3. You guys that couldn't make it, didn't miss out on much. Crap winds, cranky kiters, etc...... Of course I am lying. IT WAS GREAT. Winds a bit S in the morning, but by lunch time, they had come around to SE strengthened to 10-12knots and were perfect for an awesome days buggying I learnt I need a libre buggy and a bigger kite - although my 4m beamer III was just right for me today. Everybody was very friendly and good to put a few faces to those only known on extreme kites previously. I can't do Sunday, but I've no doubt the guys will another awesome day Thanks guys for a great day. Shawn
  4. Yeah the Newcastle AKS club day is this Sunday. Thats where I'll be Sunday, but Saturday my wife and I (and 2year old) will be heading to Biribu. Do you guys just park up in the carpark at biribu and head down from there Maybe, just maybe my wife will get keen and we can get another buggy She wants to have a go (but needs to learn how to fly first)
  5. I'll PM you my Number. I'd been keen for some midweek and weekend hookups . (I can't get out everyday - family to look after). Tassiedevil would also been keen I'd reckon. 3rd Sunday of the month is the AKS club day over at Stockon (pirate point) - you can get the ferry across if your staying right in Newcastle (or we can arrange a pickup). Mainly single line - you'll see us from Newcastle - but also a few stunt and power kites (and I have my buggy). Huge grassy area right on the beach cheers, Shawn
  6. Good advice guys . I haven't pushed the button and at this stage probably won't - will have a go at some different kites at kite-tober. I have a 4m beamer III and a 3.5m ozone imp quattro - just gotta control the newbie exuberance but I am looking for something with a little more than the 4m beamer and am hovering on a 5m crossfire I. Not point denying it - the $$ on the pansh got me just a little excited - but I'd rather buy once than twice. Anyway keep the pansh discussion going. I am sure others will get some benefit from a newer discussion too. and I haven't finished my popcorn
  7. Hey guys, As a newb to the world of power kiting,...or should that be a born again power kiter.. I dunno ... anyway...... Pansh... Lots of emotions when one looks up this name, but are they worth having one or two in your kit? Especially with respect to the newer stuff. Lots of the comments and reviews seem a bit dated and from what I pick up, Pansh are continually improving. So whats the latest thoughts. If your looking to extend your wind range , have a beater kite ready, etc are they worth it. Sure there cheap, but are they worth it (if you know what I mean) Flame suit on, locked and loaded - popcorn in the microwave . Fire away guys
  8. Planning on getting there - it is only 40minutes drive from my place to Birubi after all
  9. Buggy Newb. I just spent the last hour playing with buggy at the park (just a block away from where I live ). Wind ESE and gusty from zilch to yehah. Spent some on the ground after hitting the reverse sideways eject - guess I am doing the washing this week - button a couple of times - amusement for locals and the guys playing cricket over the other side Might head down to Stockon where the wind will be smoother. hmm 7.7 sounds like something for a little later. A 5.0 it will be then.
  10. Thanks Marty, You've confirmed what I thought. What about a crossfire 7.7. I've shy'ed away from going too big, and thats a big step up from a 5.0 Shawn
  11. Guys, I am looking at picking up either a crossfire I 5.0m or beamer III 5.0m. The price is good and the kites so close to new its not funny. Whats the best choice (I can't get both ) for buggying, skudding and all - round fun. (I have a 4.0m beamer III) cheers, Shawn
  12. Hi Jas, Did the guys get the kite away? Just chomping at the bit to have a fly cheers, Shawn
  13. Thanks for the info Jas, I will be booking up a seat and some pads for sure. What do you guys use for a brain bucket. Is a pushbike helmet sufficient. I can't see me breaking any speed records in this nor will it be used for jumping, just mucking about in the park and on the beach doing skids and slides and stuff
  14. Thanks Troy , looking foward to giving it a run. And its always better to be able to share the sillyness with somebody else. Will plan to get there. Sounds like a great weekend. Only 30 or so minutes for me to get to Birubi and as long as any new ideas don't mean $$ the wife will be fine with it too. LOL. cheers, Shawn
  15. Thanks for the help guys. Kaos helped me out with a custom temptation + I won the Briskites auction over at for-sales for the level-one X-treme UL. That'll keep me going for a while (it had better I blew the budget completely on a 2nd hand buggy this week - need one of these smilies with his goulies in a vice - LOL ) Now all we need is some decent winds. What an insane week. I am sure that down the track I will be looking to step up again - and there'll probably be a new rev to be added to quiver too. Right now I won't be too worried with the occasional (read often ) lawn dart that occurs during the learning process. Your cool-aid wouldn't happen to be 3DHS flavoured by chance... cheers, Shawn
  16. Well, its been one of those weeks. Got a lead on a buggy and I had too follow it up - much to the vexation of my wife Anyway I picked up a very good nic Peter Lyn MK1 buggy with new wheels, tyres and hardness and a 6flight old 4m beamer III for $550. I think thats a good deal With my ozone imp quatro 3.5 probably not a bad setup for the days when its too windy to fly other things - and not bad for getting back into it (after 15+ or so years) on the moderate days. I am busting to go down to the park - but with gale force winds, inexperience, and a strong sense of self preservation I think I hold out till the wind eases back this evening. Required mods - a better seat , splash guard and padding, and maybe a bearing changeout. What else? Shawn
  17. Wooo, hoooo Cool, will be in touch Jason, thanks Briskites and Extreme Kites for making this possible Cheers, Shawn
  18. $90
  19. Hi Gary, Yep, I was down with the single line crew. We had a few power and stunt kites out as well. Big roll up of families and kids after lunch. Good day, been ages since I have been able to get out - work, family, weather never just seemed to get in sync But aiming to get out a bit more now the days are getting longer - bring on daylight savings Shawn
  20. Thanks guys, I think I am pretty close. I think I might just be "tempted" by Kaos. Great book damp_weather very useful and informative. cheers, Shawn
  21. Thanks for the replies guys - keep em com'n, I am enjoying the feedback. I have a rev II from ~95 - its a bit worn out now (well actually a lot worn out )- but was good fun. I am really looking for a "conventional" modern kite capable of teaching me new tricks though. I'll keep my eye out for a good 2nd hand kite - I've seen some others around - in fact my E2 was picked up as a new 2nd hand purchase through kitelife when I started getting back into kiting (single line, power, sport) 12months ago. What other forums are out there - I know GWTW and kitelife (PM ok if mentioning publicly offends the extremekites gang). Cheers, Shawn
  22. Ok, I have $200 odd dollars of kite related funds to use. I am thinking a Silver fox, but what are the other choices out there. I have an E2 + some other older designs and am looking for a fun kite to develop trick skills. So whats out there, whats people's thoughts, and what would you add into your bag if you had similar amounts of funds available Shawn
  23. Hey Gary you need to clean out your PM box! Missed you this morning, I am sure our schedules will coincide soon. I might head out later this arvo for some fly'n. cheers, Shawn
  24. Hi Gary, It was just by chance that I came along and saw you guys. As mentioned I fly with kite club at Stockton every 3rd Sunday - mainly single line stuff, but also dualies and quads too. We had packed up for the day given the storm brewing (nothing worse that packing 3 or 4 big wet kites away) and was driving out when I spotted a couple of kites down the beach. I couldn't help but have a quick look see and was surprised to see Shane down there flying. Thanks for the invite to have a fly on the mighty bug. I haven't flown a kite like that for a long time and was impressed with its performance. Look foward to having a fly with you guys sometime in the near future. cheers, Shawn
