  1. I wonder if they do an extendable down tube for these to accommodate a taller rider or if you could get away with using a standard flexi version instead... half tempted!
  2. Hey Wayne, You aint getting rid of the flexi bug as well are you? Thread really deserves a bump as both kites are damn good! See you at Brands soon.
  3. Thanks for the comments guys. That lovely field is actually Brands Hatch (Kent). A few of us do fly there - know a couple of people who also own buggies seen a boarder plus a few recreationals so nice mixture. I am looking at getting a HD camcorder or possibly a helmet-cam and film on a much windier day! at some points it was picking up but I was only achieving speeds near 20 on the buggy.
  4. Hey guys, Uploaded a kite buggy vid on youtube and thought i'd share. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oznyWWkbEZo Enjoy Ian
  5. Hi Minxette, Suppose it really depends on your style of flying - if you want to race / speed about then a Libre buggy's good - also see Popeyethewelder's website as very helpful. For cruising about and freestyle, the Flexifoil buggy is ideal. Also you need to consider where to store the buggy and how you get it to a field / beach (if you have space) Although if space really is an issue then Peter Lynn do the foldable version which is not bad. I started out with the Flexi buggy as do many others as I feel its the best all-rounder. Ok it may be more expensive but it just has the decent build / quality to last for a long time. Hope this helps.
  6. Hi mate Really glad to hear that he's making progress. Lets hope the remaining ops all good to plan. Yeh I still go to Brands, was up there today and yesterday on the buggy as the wind has been top notch! Getting some crazy speeds today (25mph) but only used a few times so seems very fast also powersliding and even on 2 wheels at some point. Annoyingly after I finish work now, its almost dark so cant get much of a session during the week but always aim to be there at the weekend weather permitting. Anyway good to hear from you and see ya soon
  7. Hi mate, Well I tried going there Friday and got asked to leave - literally got the kite out ready to roll and a security 4x4 pootled over - they were polite and understood my words of wisdom. Left afterwards. Over the weekend with the superbikes goin on, the field was chaos, as were the roads so gave that a miss. went over to blackheath on saturday instead - really good apart from very light wind that even gave the 6.5 a hard time... it was kite heaven!!!! Are you planning on going there tomorrow as it looks ok (bout 10mph wind on forecast) if so i may be there. If not then I will aim for Friday as that looks like a good forecasted day as well.. Give us a text or something if so See you soon
  8. Hey WRX_Dazza - I am getting a brand new Peter Lynn Hornet 3m hopefully in the next couple of days so will give you a verdict in comparison to the Blurr. Ok it may be a cheapy kite but just wanted something to get me started with buggying then move onto my 5m blurr! Plus needed a smaller kite for those stronger wind days like we've had recently.
  9. Ian / 24 / work full time in the office (no not with David Brent, how cool would that be?!!!) Training to become a autocad engineer though...
  10. Thanks all for very good advice! Great info that will hopefully teach other newcomers the art to buggying. I did at one point have to swerve to avoid the lines as the kite deflated hehe. Out of curiosity, what bridle setting do most of you use?
  11. Cheers Pete, with the wind today at near 20mph, it became too much to handle so a smaller 3.5 would of been ideal. Only other thing though is would adjusting the bridle make a significant difference? It does on my Blade but not experimented with the Blurr -would this be worth doing in future?
  12. Cheers for the advice Plezzy. Not so worried about the harness as got strong arms plus do jumping on a Blade 6.5! which gives you strong arms hehe The grass at the field I use is ok but the field is slightly on an incline with a gravel path halfway. Ideally I need to wait for a less windier day to get the technique sorted and to try those ways of stopping.
  13. Despite the strong wind, I couldn't resist temptation so got the 5m Blurr up, sat in the buggy and went off like a rocket! It was so windy the kite was pulling me down wind like an animal! Main issues I got are stopping - what's the best method you use? I found using the brake lines more efficient than bringing the kite to center of wind window - At one point, the kite easily lifted me off the ground! (before getting into the buggy) Going back up-wind just seemed impossible! with the strong wind, the kite only wanted to go 1 way only and me with it - ended up on the floor smacked my knee and a couple of grazes! Still great fun though - certainly felt quick guess at 15mph. Had to pack up as rain was coming my way... Putting a buggy into the back of a Focus ST when it starts raining is not easy! heheh. I need a van at this rate! I would appreciate any advice / techniques given. Cheers Ian
  14. Right then, Got it sorted, just a small bit of filing to do and it was fine. Did all of that then realised my legs were too far stretched for turning the front! Down a couple of notches and all was fine. Cue the decent weather so I can go have my 1st session.
  15. Thanks for the replies - I will need to look at the down tube tonight and see how it lines up by adjusting to a different length. Just not totally convinced with it - I'm sure the side frames are ok but wonder if Flexi rushed with making these down tubes as recently, they were stuggling with manufacturing them hence the long wait over the past few weeks... I'm sure once it's all sorted, it will be a riot to use!
  16. Hey guys, Picked up my new Flexi buggy last night and spent a while assembling. Being the tall ******* I am (6ft 6) means the buggy has the extended down tube! Thing is, only one of the bolts can be attached... The rear bolt can't fit as the holes don't line up - not even slightly.... Hope that makes sense. Query is - will 1 bolt be ok for the down tube or does it have to be 2? Thanks, Ian
  17. haha probably looked like one after going through wet grass and mud!
  18. christ, now i know why the ambulance was there! i hope you make a quick recovery mate
  19. Doh, I missed that session as busy. Man you certainly did go airborn with that - same height with me and my Blade 6.5 Looks really funny it that vid - 1st you look over your shoulder thinking nah its alright. Next it's oh ****!!!!! Hope you've already got some pads mate as you're gonna need em if that happens again. Saw the ambulance there tonight... eek See ya soon Ian
  20. Shame I didnt get there in time to try out that 12m!... ah well maybe next time If Mick does see this - Hurry up with that buggy hehe. Anyway, good session today, see ya soon
  21. That was a cracking session tonight - got some huge air on the blade but that 12m was something else that made my 6.5 look like a 1.5! Cant wait for tomorrow, forecast looks decent (according to tonights observation) Lets hope some additonal kites are about tomorrow.. See you there!!!
  22. yeh you were going at some pace as well ! glad you've sussed it in the end. I am definitely looking at buggies now - you got me hooked! Out of curiosity, where did you get the buggy and how much dosh? Cheers
  23. Hey evoman, As you're from Maidstone, easiest way is going through west kingsdown, then past Brands (located on right) and the field would be on the right hand side just after. You would easily be able to see my blade 6.5 so thats a good reference point! Hope this helps. Ian p.s -What kites you got mate?
  24. No worries mate - funnily enough, you headed off and the wind picked up! got a couple of jumps but then it went completely dead so called it a night. At least you know how good they are... The Blurr was really nice to fly, loved the handles and kite was very smooth. Anyway, lets hope it's good weather and will catch up with ya soon
  25. Hey Kev (bowe123) & bond, hehe, sounds interesting about the gravel patch - bet that hurt a tad.. Just got back from Southsea in Portsmouth (weekend trip but had a session on the shorefront with the 4m blade which was cool) Will be heading over to Brands hopefully tonight if the wind ever picks up or Wednesday
