  1. thanks Marty, 25% of Tassie good will coming your way!! cheers steve
  2. Hi all, I have a brand new unused Aquapac case suitable for use on a buggy for a GPS or mobile. I got it from KP for $70 - identical to this one: http://www.kitepower.com.au/catalog/pro ... t_270.html but I haven't used it and I am unlikely to use it. All yours for $25 delivered. cheers steve
  3. Hey you landbased tassie guys, didnt see you there tonight..Spotter, saw your car there.. Had the Crossfire out in winds that were a bit yucky, moving around as well as up and down, 5 - 15 knts. The kite handed it pretty well actually - I was pretty tentative at the 15 knt gusts with the kite at the zenith getting into my buggy though! Good brake control and I could instantly pull the power out of the kite if I needed to. Decided to pack up when I moving doing about 30 kph towards the river end when I was pulled out about 6 or 7 feet and landed on my feet..."probably the wrong kite out tonight" I thought to myself!! The Flow is in the mail after the repair - it was really a night for that - so looking fwd to getting it back into the air over the weekend. cheers steve
  4. It's about time we had another one of these threads, the forum has been too quiet lately ! cheers steve
  5. I'm just an opportunist...the price was too good! cheers steve
  6. and still be pulled along in the buggy with little effort too! cheers steve
  7. As everyone can see, Ant is trying to kill me.... thanks Ant, I really appreciate the time you have put into tuning this kite up for me - time I havent had with family things at the moment. Cant wait to try it out! cheers steve
  8. Feel free to tune it up for me Ant!!! Interestingly, I didnt have any luffing or stability issue with it the other day in the buggy or the other 2 times I static flew it... do you think you were having a "bad wind" day ant?? (that's wind in the sky, not from your a!@#&!) cheers steve I love it when others tune up my gear and then hand it back to me....look out PB!!!!
  9. we'll try anything on..you know that Jas!!
  10. funnily enough...I need one of these too....hey Jas.... cheers steve
  11. that 8.5 m is still available at a good price............
  12. 1 or 2 metre jumps at the flick of a wrist....and plenty of float on the way down!.... Look a lot like the blade, although I think that it is less aggresive,..... no chance of selling guys...this one is a keeper!..perfect for power sliding in summer evening sea breezes!!! Steve
  13. Had the new Crossfire II 6.5 m and the buggy together today for the first time on a fine afternoon with Alpha 888. The winds were low only around 5 knots, but smooth sea breezes. Constantly running at 30 kph in the buggy even in these winds. The kite is a dream in light conditions - heaps of power to pull you out of holes, soft sand etc to start with smooth accelerated power that keeps going. Also very stable for a high aspect ration kite (as long as it is kept moving forward). The 6.5 is a nice fast kite for its size so no trouble keeping the buggy and kite working together. As it gets faster it generates a LOT more power too!. Up wind performance is really good and plenty of power slides. It's going to be awesome in 10 - 12 knots!! All in all I am VERY impressed. Later on in the summer I can see my 5m Flow being replaced by say a 3 or 4 m Crossfire...Much as I like the Flow, I find it too slow for buggying (good in crappy winds though). cheers steve
  14. thanks Goz! Maybe I'll just do a little static flying with it before I get it into the buggy!! Well Spotter...I told you not to go...that's what you get for going north!! (Hope you're getting some buggy time!! - hey that 8.5 m Crossfire is still available if you want to go for it...!! ) Let me know when you get back..I want to see what happens to someone when they fly this thing in normal winds! cheers steve ps: bloody hell it's a fast kite with the drive building up with speed too!
  15. Hi JD, Yep, I'm being extra careful - the Flow will still be my goto kite, the Crossfire is just for the VERY light and SMOOTH wind days to enable me to still trundle along with the buggy. No extra courageous stuff from me!. It's a different world to the Flow - I think they each have their place at my level of experience, but anything above 5-8 mph for me will mean packing up the Crossfire until I get more experience! cheers steve
  16. Today I took delivery of my nice Yellow HQ Crossfire II 6.5 m. Luckily I had 30 minutes tonight to try it out in smooth 5 mph winds - just right for a timid 6.5 m tryout from someone who up until now has stuck to the 5m Flow !! My initial impressions are that this kite flys very nicely indeed. It is simple to launch (even with my limited experience) and is remarkebly stable for such a high aspect ratio kite, even near the window edge (it might be a different story in bumpy winds though!). Goes to the zenith very easily and predicteably. Fast - that is the first things I noticed - much faster than the Flow and with it comes drive (and plenty of it) also lift if I want it. Nice easy grass skudding. Finished off the session with numerous pendulum jumps - all very easy, plenty of lift but stable and predicatable, nice float. If I had my buggy with me I could have trundled along quite happily in these light winds (which is what I got the kite for). A good first session - I will be wary of bumpy winds though!! Oh, and the quality of kite, bag, lines, handles and killers is excellent - all in all I am very happy with my first HQ kite. I'll post some photo's and update you on my first buggy run soon. cheers steve
  17. sounds like the gauntlet has been thrown down!!! Bring it on Dave !! cheers steve
  18. that must have been the reason I had kids........... steve
  19. Ok, new top speed today at Marion's Bay in Tasmania...42.6 kph with a 5m Flow, PL MkI buggy and around 15 -20 kph winds. Witnesses: Spotter, Black_Ant, Alpha_888 and ctrlaltkite cheers steve
  20. Hi everyone, The Tassie boys had a great buggy day today. Photo's and video over at the Tasmanian part of the forum cheers steve
  21. Ok, some photo's...and links to some video's... 1) ready for the first speed run 2) walking to the "start" line 3) family walk over the dunes carrying the buggy and gear 4) top speed proof... 5) Link to Video of my 8 year old and me in the buggy 6) Link to Video of my 5 year old and me in the buggy cheers steve
  22. Hey Tim, you're right. 42.3 kph on the 5m Flow. However I was overpowered and doing power skids up the beach which was actually slowing me down. I also found the Flow (again) a bit slow (even with the winds we had) - I was running 15m lines still - I changed them over to 20 m lines tonight for the next round. When I moved to the 2.5m Rage I hit the same speed, but with full control and without being yanked about and skidding (i.e: smooth rolling all the way_. Just goes to show, the bigger kite doesnt neccesarily mean faster in the buggy! The Rage was VERy impressive - plenty of pull and fast so I could work the speed up - it performed far better than the Flow on the day. Again, your Beamer outperformed. I'll post some photo's and video's soon. (The 5m Flow is on it's way to the "Kitepower Geelong doctors" due to popping in internal cell wall during a large OBE and kite crash nose first - hopefully it will be back in the air soon...wrong kite for the conditions it seems...) cheers steve
  23. just for that you miss having a fly on my Crossfire II 6.5m next week as punishment! Steve
