  1. Chasing the sun and wind, having to go to the NE , looking to use the beach E of bridport, any locals ? If not anyone have any info ? ( strahan beach turned out to be like running on chewing gum)
  2. Heading down strahan way for a bit of kitebuggy time, possibly within 5-12th jan, don't have a fixed itinerary, are there any like minded in the area, Do not plan on being on the east coast already tried that and decided the winds are more predictable over there, plus the fishing,4x4 etc.
  3. Anyone know who this was? http://www.themercury.com.au/article/2012/01/26/295541_tasmania-news.html They've described him as a "parasailing skateboarder" but i'm guessing the mockery meant a landboarder... Glad he's ok and no one was hurt... Not good for any kind of power kiting or kitesurfing in the state though
  4. Is this any of you guys (forum members) ..... or is there a 'secret Tazzy buggy society'
  5. Couple of us are making our yearly xmas trim to St Helens for some bugging. Normally camping somewhere near Dora Point. If any one is going to be around and want to catch up for a kite somewhere, send me a PM and I will give you my Number and can find a beach somewhere.
  6. Anyone done any land-kiting down cloudy bay way on Bruny? I go down there a lot and there's a few km of empty beach there with pretty strong consistent winds year-round. Haven't done any land-kiting yet (getting hold of a board atm) but to my untrained eye it looks pretty good.
  7. Hey guys, Im realy new to this website but i want to get some shots for my schol photography course, i am intrested in the land boarding scene so let me know and we could catch up or what evr and take some photos
  8. Nice flying today at the Cenotaph Christian. I'll try and get to the Cenotaph on the weekend over the next couple of weeks with the dual line and catchup with you on the lines! cheers Steve
  9. There are a couple of us heading to St Helens over the next couple of days. Will be hoping to camp at Dora's point. If there is anyone around that wants to come up for a trip, PM me and will let you know where we will be depending on wind conditions.
  10. Hi all, is there any buggy or ATB nuts in the Launceston area, My son has just moved into the area and would like to hook up with like minded nutters. Pm me here and I will pass it on.
  11. TimS' Kendra whels have arrived! What an inspiring occaision! He was wondering if he should pimp his ride which got me thinking about a painted buggy and one thing led to another... So it is with ‘Blood Sweat And Tears’ that I alter the following lyrics to create TimS’ new theme song! So rock on!!  What goes up must come down TimS’ OBE left him flat on the ground Talking about your troubles it's a crying sin Ride that painted buggy Let those Kendra wheels spin Newies calling you, you gotta leave home Spinning wheels left all alone Talking about your troubles and you, you never learn Ride that painted buggy let Tim’s spinning wheels turn (trippy bit..) Did you find a directing sign on the straight and narrow highway? Would you mind a reflecting sign Just let it shine within your mind And show you the colours that are real Someone is waiting just for you Tim’s spinning wheels are spinning true Drop all your troubles, by the river side Catch that painted buggy Let the spinning wheels slide Someone is waiting just for an OBE Tim’s spinning wheels are spinning free Drop all your troubles, by the river side Ride that painted buggy Let the spinning wheels slide Cheers, Dave (aka ctrlatkite)
  12. Hi all, After seeing how much fun you guys have on the water, I'd like to give kitesurfing a go. Is there anyone giving lessons in Tassie at the moment around January and February? I vaguely remember that someone comes down to Devonport or something a couple of times a year through summer to take lessons. If not I might have to make a trip to Melbourne... Kind regards Ant

  14. Its fantastic that our intrepid Tassie adventurer Dudley is on the mend so I thought I'd start this post to help him (in only the way mates can!) to choose a new helmet. Here's a few I'm sure you'll be impressed with Dud's! Everyone feel free to suggest others of equal quality! Cheers, Dave
  15. Some of the land Based Crew will be in St Helen's over the next couple of days. Some good beaches and even better tides are on the forecast. Anyone wants to join from that neck of the woods are more than welcome. As long as I can find the charger for my Video Camera, there should be some footage as well. Cant wait to have a buggy with Rob Brassington
  16. Hey you landbased tassie guys, didnt see you there tonight..Spotter, saw your car there.. Had the Crossfire out in winds that were a bit yucky, moving around as well as up and down, 5 - 15 knts. The kite handed it pretty well actually - I was pretty tentative at the 15 knt gusts with the kite at the zenith getting into my buggy though! Good brake control and I could instantly pull the power out of the kite if I needed to. Decided to pack up when I moving doing about 30 kph towards the river end when I was pulled out about 6 or 7 feet and landed on my feet..."probably the wrong kite out tonight" I thought to myself!! The Flow is in the mail after the repair - it was really a night for that - so looking fwd to getting it back into the air over the weekend. cheers steve
  17. Extreme Kites Weather Forecasts Detailed Tasmania Wind & Weather Forecasts brought to you by Extreme Kites! * We have been working very hard to bring you a Weather System that is for Kiters, not Boaters, Blokarters, Pole Dancers, sorry I meant Windsurfers, etc. This is a Weather System built by kiters for kiters with one thing in mind, to tell us when it's the best time to trek out of the house and go kiting! * Feedback is important! We can't stress this enough, we have built what we could with four hands and a few people around the country testing it, however there's no time like the present so if you see something that looks quirky, or something you would like improved then we want to hear it! We have setup a feedback form for the weather which you can use to send your feedback to us. As there's only two of us we can't read all the forums and posts all the time, so the best way to make sure we get your feedback is to use the feedback form for the weather. Here's a guide on how to read our Weather: How to read the Weather Here's some links for local Tasmanian weather: Extreme Kites Wind & Weather Forecasts Tasmania Tasmania North Tasmania South
  18. What a massive day at Marions bay we had today. Good 20 knot onshore breeze, lots of beach space and an all round great day. Was a few firsts today by the guys. Ant got his first boosts with the outlaw. Good bit of air but the wind was dropping when he trying them. A great start and getting some good air and landing them. Dudley was moving across with on the landboard right foot forward. Another first and starting to look like a try land boarder. Steve got a huge 42km/h on the PL MK1 and 5m flow. He is starting to look the goods and get some good bugging under his belt. By the end of the summer he is going to be cranking along. I got a 52.1km/h on the PL MK2 and the 4m beemer. Started to fell a little over powered once I got over the 48km/h speeds but still good fun I also got my first successful 180 frontside to reverse. Was fantastic. Did get some video from the day, but the borrowed video camera I had is being a pain in the ass to download from and the quality is not that great. Will give it back to the dude that owns it tomorrow and get him to stick it on USB for me.
  19. with jk getting surface handle passes down, Pete smashing out some crazy bklpkt lps (and himself), Kev some good air and Mike looking pretty fast out there. The after party at TKSA HQ eating pizza in the hot tub wasn't bad either!!
  20. Ok so this isn't another one of those where can i kite in hobart, where is good to kite in tas blah blah blah So i propose some of the more skilled kiters that know the place send me some details and I can throw a mash up of stuff together google earth/ photoshop and I saw something similar that someone was doing down along Vic or NSW but i'd prefer to make it free and something that we could possible have as standard and slowly update if needs be; Rather I want to get a more detailed in a format similar to below; where to go? when? ie. wind direction best for/conditions? surf/flat/choppy/beginners Parking areas? Facilities? toilets/water/bbq Tidal effect? too shallow at low tide Issues with the site/launch areas? who's giving us grief in a specific area and what we've done about it i.e. seven mile beach no fly zone An example would be; Seven mile beach S / SSE / SE choppy Day Use Area 1 No facilities Avoid the airport exclusion zone as shown in the picture The reason I'm keen to do something like this is cause as a beginner I want to be able to know where i can go and although posts like http://www.extremekites.com.au/forums/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=9179 help I dunno where to go? for which winds? and/or where I should park my car to get easy access to the beach? All of which i'd like the more experienced kiters to share, pretty pretty please with a cherry on the top
  21. The spring/summer Hobart kiteboarding season was officially declared "open" today by all present - who also unanimously agreed that the conditions at Cremorne were "fully sick". 3 ft play waves, consistent wind, dead flat water inbetween the long sets, wind about 19kts. AND those in wetties didn't freeze!! Bring it on. Ahhhhh the first kite stoke of the season:)
  22. Was up the Cenotaph Thursday afternoon and there was a small Mystic waist harness sitting up there. White and black. I did ring Kev to see if he knew thoes it was. If any of the Kite Surfers are missing a harness let me know.
  23. Hey guys, I'm from Canada, and I do quite a bit of kiting. Now that I'm at university, I'm seriously considering to apply for an exchange program with university of Tasmania, in Hobart, . One of the reasons for it is it looks like it could have some good kiteboarding spots near the area. Is the campus near a kiteable beach, biking walking distance? I'd most probably be living very close to campus. How are the winds In this area? Good on a fairly regular basis? Thanks for your input guys. Guilly
