  4. North Norfolk is pretty good Check out Hunstanton and surrounding area. Brancaster can also be great on the right tide. A good campsite is Deepdale Backpackers: http://www.deepdalefarm.com Alternatively you can go a little cheaper at Searles in Hunstanton: Norfolk Caravan Camping Lodge Holidays - Searles Leisure & Camping Park in Norfolk Ollie

    Kite repair

Get yourself some basic repair patches and some glue, get the strut out and repair the way you would with a bike inner tube, simple
  6. Agree with above, thats how i did it.
  7. 5th...and.. Holy S**t is this still going on?! what a fu**ing jackwagon. He did this to me last year, in the end I had to make about 4 trips round his to eventually get my kite back. As far as I know he is still in Norwich but has moved house, i'm also in norwich so if I find out where I will be posting on here. Can i suggest a facebook group to campaign to get everyones stuff back? it worked with james and his similar issue with toby raw if i remember correctly! Olly
  8. Hey man. Been there half a dozen times on family holidays since I was younger. I'm heading there in May for a couple of weeks this year and I'm 50/50 whether to take my stuff this time. Basically the set up is this. 3 kite spots, 2 of them are average in the north and then there is Prasonisi in the south as mentioned above. The spot COULD be really good. From sometime in May til september it's good 10 - 7m weather most of the time. Except light mornings. It blows onshore on the Aegean side with some decent sizes waves out the back, can get up to 6ft in my experience and there's the possibility of a sick session there. On the other side (mediterreanean) it blows off shore over the beach, Completely flat. Sounds pretty good? It can be. BUT. Same old story, Germans taking over Europe. They take over the whole place, there is no space whatsoever when they arrive. More than one school teaching in pretty dangerous conditions, plus it's also full of tourists who come to see what's going on. On the flat side you have a tough time finding space in between the pole dancers who mow the lawn all day and on the other side is where all the newly born kiters do pretty much the same thing. However if you are going before the European summer holidays you might be ok, without so many people it is a really good spot. Olly
  9. Most bizarre regulations on entering a country I have ever come across. I thought the US were world leaders in paranoia? I flew with Singapore Airlines, awesome airline but their excess baggage charge is something like $30 per kg!! Get all your kites and things in regular luggage, if you are taking a board just put in it a regular single board bag with towels for protection. As stated above make sure everything is clean when you enter as they arent fond of foreign....anything. Having said that I'd still lay claim to fame that I am probably the only person EVER to walk through Perth security with boots covered in mud snow and all sorts of other dirt from Mongolia's countryside. Dont kow what all the fuss is about to be honest...... Olly
  10. Hey, I live in Norwich about 20mins away from Andy. Can't say I have seen him myself for quite sometime which is odd as it has been windy a fair bit here. If I see him about anywhere ill be sure to get hold of his number and let him know the situation. I highly doubt anything suspicious is going on, he's a top guy but does seem to have issues going awol unexpectedly! Olly
  11. Pretty sure it won't work. The shift bar has a Y bridle on the front lines for the set up for the Torch. the 2010 cults etc now have the same system I think but not the 2009. Olly
  12. To any instructors that have worked in Egypt.....how good is it? I've been considering it, but having spent a week in Sharm a few years back I know that when the wind isnt there there isn't much else to do. Although I'm assuming some places there is more to do than somewhere like Ras Sudr. Whats the cost of living like in comparison to your pay? Thanks in advance Any help appreciated! Olly
  13. Which year?

    Iko Or Bksa

I wouldn't do IKO. I would do BKSA and covert if you want to go abroad. Second that.

    Iko Or Bksa

I did the IKO course this summer and while it was decent it was nowhere near the standard I expected. The materials were out of date and some by quite a few years. Some of the knowledge given in lessons was very subjective! There didn't seem to be any real prerequisites for the course. Despite the fact that it says you must have been a level 3 rider for a year. This wasn't checked, there was a riding test but was very basic and really didnt challenge you. Im going to do the bksa one now as everyone says the training is better. I'd advise bksa then pay to get yourself signed off with the iko. If you do the iko first you have to do an extra days training to get bksa qualified, so i understand. That tells me the bksa is a better qualification.
  18. it depends on the day if they let it on or not! its £60 long haul and £40 short haul. It says you get an extra 40kg but the max one bag can have is 32 otherwise they definitely dont let you take it on!
  19. Just wondering if anyone has had to use any in Cabarete? and any idea where you can get hold of them there? Going tomorrow and only just found out! damnit:mad: thanks Olly:)
  20. Seems to be all there is going now, ive paid that much for mine. go on travelrepublic.co.uk and look for 1 week, 2 week, 3 week etc return flights as the price varies a fair bit! you can go with thomas cook and thompson i think direct, or you can fly with virgin to new york jfk then jet blue to puerto plata.
