  1. Was there on Wednesday afternoon getting some fresh air and blowing the Winter cobwebs away. Today (Sat) the wind appears to be from the NE which can be usable but not the best of directions. Tomorrow (Sun) the forecast is for Northerlies which is probably the worst direction for the Hilton. Plus you'll be competing with a bunch of footballers.
  2. You're right, I really need to get off my fat ass and get on with some more kite fiddling! Which I am planning to do as soon as I get the last of the problems that have been plaguing my car sort out. It's so long since I've done anything that I'm gonna take some time to figure out where I was, what I was doing, and what I had planned next.
  3. I always figures that before any civilisation got to building Dyson Spheres that they'd be building Ringworlds instead - Ringworld - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Spin it to obtain gravity on the inner surface, so you don't need to invent artificial gravity to use most of the surface. And you need a LOT less material to make one.
  4. Peter Lynn Kite Cat Peter Lynn Kiteboarding Kitecat Kitesailing Kite Cat Catamaran 2008 Kitesurfing Boat Power Kites Kite Surf Safety Gear - Powerkiteshop UK Equipment And a good entry to the world of HAAKing by lonerider! You'll have to do MUCH better to get a ranking though!
  5. I've been off of my fat-ass, unfortunately I've had to be running around trying to get my car sorted. If it'll stop screwing me around then I should be able to get some building done before I go back to work next year.
  6. I haven't been doing anything to tie A0 & A1 together but it hasn't seemed necessary on mine as yet. What probably is necessary on mine ....... is for me to get off my fat-ass and get some more work done on them!
  7. Where I live there are lots of useless bipeds running free. I'll probably just 'club' one of them every other week, that should keep me going! :-)
  8. Hi BigE, It has been an awful summer hasn't it, and I didn't get out anywhere near as much as I wanted to. My 3.5m NPW21 did get some good use though. Any time the winds picked up and started getting gnarly it came out and did me proud. I should have my kite workshop back online this weekend. It got packed away over the summer cos the space was needed when we had a kitchen refurb. Short term plans are to rebridle CTD2 and finally fly it back-to-back against CTD1. And then I'll be fitting a NPW21 bridle to my 5m NPW9. If that works then the rest of my quiver of NPW9s will be getting the same treatment.
  9. It is waaaaay too long since I've posted. I'm afraid I'm just not getting the chance to check KC more than 2 or 3 times a week!
  10. News! My new job is soon to become my old job! And my old job is to become my new job! This will hopefully help me sort my hours out a bit better.
  11. I disappear for a couple of days and a new builder arrives on the scene! Guess I'll have to disappear more often! I have flown my 5.3m NPW9 (HQ build) along side BigE's 5m NPW21, and the NPW21 won hands down. I've also flown my 3.4m NPW9 (also HQ build) along side my own 3.5m NPW21, and again the NPW21 wins by a mile. As BigE said the stability is fantastic. It also appears to have a larger window, and what really surprised me is that my 3.5 has a much better wind range and gust handling than any NASA I've flown before. What I will say is that the 21's we've built have the Teeja bridling profile, which may be responsible for the improvements. I'll know pretty soon as I'm rebridling the 3.4m NPW9 to the same profile.
  12. They decided to give it a spin, and it wasn't half popular!
  13. Been spending plenty of today sat in front of the sewing machine. Nearly finished the canopy for CTD2, just gotta give it a nose job, and the tie the bitch up!
  14. Actually if you look at it the right way you can start to make out his noodly appendages! How do you know that the laws of physic in the universe outside our black hole are the same as the laws in ours? So how would you know that we'd be able to observe anything on the other side of the event horizon? How do you know we're not running at a different rate of time to the outside? Just kidding! It's one I like to throw at people occasionally just to watch their heads explode! And yeah, the customers at the Big Bang Burger Bar certainly wouldn't have had much to see. But they probably could have ordered some quark soup while they weren't seeing it!
  15. It's always great when they go down on you easily after you finish!
  16. I'm finally getting back in the game tomorrow. CTD2 is gonna get finished off and bridled with a shortened bridle. If it works then I may keep shortening the bridles until it doesn't, at which point we'll have an idea of how short we can go. And I've got a 3.4m NPW9 that I'm gonna give the 'treatment'! It's already had its bridles removed and new ones are to be fitted. Though I may wait until I know how CTD2 gets on with shortened bridles. I'll also be taking the darts out of the nose, and fitting it for a foam SLE. If it flies anywhere near as well as CTD1 then I'll be revisiting my other NPW9s (5.3, 7, 10 & 15) and fettling them up with foam SLE and bridles. A quiver full of Super-NASAs will be too much to resist! Other imminent jobs will be to shorten the bridles on CTD1 but with a shallow AoA. If that works then it'll get used as a basis for a different depower system that I've got rattling around in my head. We live in interesting times!
  17. You got a look at micks bedroom?!? I think I know what you mean but I JFGIed to be sure ........ and this thread appeared sixth on the list!!!!! Is the CMB the face of God? Or is it the event horizon of the black hole that we exist inside? I wanted a cogent paradigm but you went and gave us a good example instead! That's why I switched to drybags! No zips = no radiation!
  18. My other half is out all day tomorrow so I have a choice: Get out buggying for the first time in weeks - Only my local playground currently has mid-winter puddles everywhere! Go back to bed and spend the day there! Or go into my workroom and finish one kite and rebridle another! I think I'm gonna have a day in front of the sewing machine! Hopefully in a week or two my situation will change again and at that point I'll probably post up a little cautionary tale.
  19. I may soon be returning to the fold, with more regular reading/posting! I have only been averaging 4 or 5 KC sessions a week for the last 3 weeks!
  20. I would class it as mind numbing, soul destroying pap for the uneducated masses. The problem is that as you increase the compression ratio the result will increasingly resemble random data. Which then begs the question of how it will be recognised as compressed data and subsequently extracted. The more you compress the data the more entropy will become your biggest enemy, corrupting your data every single little chance that it gets. Unless you use a spherical monolith in a vacuum!
  21. Did you never watch Deep Space 9?
  22. Pity stayed his hand .......... pity he ran out of bullets!
  23. Pity stayed his hand .......... pity he ran out of bullets!
  24. I'm gonna have to see that one in the flesh at some point. The logo reminds me so much of the old Blakes 7 logo! Which bridling profile did you go for?
  25. Are you sure it was a seal? It could have been my missus!
