After been surfing on the north east coast for 2years now its bloody freezing, got a dry suit and everything. However, first time out on my home stretch (allonby, cumbria, NORTH WEST), and I was sweating like a pig!!! I just can't believe the difference in water tempreture. It'll certainly make getting onto the water a lot more pleasent, esp as a beginner I'll spend 90% of the time floating about:rolleyes: Its not as salty either, and you don't get ill, unlike tynemouth and redcar:mad:

I know the feeling when you are so down you want to get rid of everything and do something else. But don't despair, drink will sort you out and make you think more rationally. my advise, move CLOSER to the beach. Which ain't actually much better as I live about 2miles away from a great beach/site, but even that 2miles (often walk it with dog) makes me get almost angry when the weather stalls out on me and xcweather is pretty good for me. It predicted NO wind for sundays BKSA champs at barrow, and bugger me it was right, more wind in a nursing home

depends on weather, I sometimes run it heavily powered, so it stalls/struggles all the way up, then power it down till it flys properly, ARC + lots of speed = faceplant for flipping over the walking round the kite till it flips itself works well for me, tip to tip works when its dry, but TBH when is it EVER dry

LOL @ the dog power. if you'd stack'd em with another lead, then thrown a boneo in the rough direction of the beach I'm fairly sure you would have been breaking speed limits* *the 5mph caravan site limit

so what was the problem??? I managed to get a knot in one of my rear PL lines, was about 3" in a loose loop, made kite unflyable, nad whilst on beach couldn't figure out what it was. so packed up, went home, and several days later, after drying, I figured what it was:rolleyes:

wrap some duck tape around the inside of the collar, then it takes quite a bit to knock it off. that said, when your in trouble, stuff thats normally easy (like say a 10n force) suddenly becomes a lot harder, and feels more like (40n force) its stuck. so I can see where their coming from, but there should be some proper explanation to their safty system in the manual

I tend to carry my bag and stuff with me. otherwise I'd leave it in the car. as its insured in there, and in the boot its concealed, and unless Iv'e been a noob, no-one would know its in there. when kite is out of bag I'll wear it on my back, as its got a spine bit down it and a brace from left to right, makes me feel more confident with it on, when I roll/crash () feels more rigid. stops bits of pointy seaweed and sticks getting impailed in my kidneys aswell:D

but it will be relying on a harsh landing, or at least a spike in the unit velocity to figure out when to stop. fine if you like breaking your legs on landings, but HUUUAGEEE floaty jumps that end in a super smooth soft landing aren't gonna register, it will just keep counting.

yeah, but then it may fall off, and not dry for a couple of days:p my little bro did that to my bullet, was a nasty day windwise, and he ended up getting more air than I ever have (no idea how he managed it, wind was bout 7-9mph!!!) then face planted into the mud flat, and kite then dithced out to sea, and took about 10mins to pull back in, its still muddy even after several washes:(

neat, very neat. looks' like the wind picked up a er bit toward the end there

35mph + looping it = LIFT, even with said bullet. in erm, safe flying conditions they generate none, sometimes a dumpy jump, but massive winds = ridiculous lift, with horendous stalling and then limb tearing pickup. not nice, but er educational, don't fly in massive winds kids:p stuff breaks.

buy my 3.5 bullet, tis practically new. the ones in tesco and argo's are mmmm OK, but once you crack it out the packet you'll see the build quality and the quality of the bridle is FAR FAR worse than that even of a pansh. theres plenty of peterlynn peppers going cheap (think their about to be discountinued) and bullets are common to buy cheapish 2nd hand, I'd much rather buy a good used kite, than a nasty new one, that you then CANNOT sell on, its instantly worthless.

go to B&Q, buy a plaster spreader, unscrew the flat bit, and your left with a half decent handle for under £1.50:D

well if its clean enough, free from scallies, and theres someone fairly willing to come save me, then sounds alright. they've started bumping prices for all the coastal carparks here in teh NE, basically from redcar to blyth every carpark has gone up about 30% in the last few weeks.

ideally you need skate shoes, or something with a wide, nearly flat on top toe/box section at teh front, otherwise you just get pushed out of them all the time. also try screwing them down a bit, so they bite into the top of your foot (forgot name of that tenden) rather than the sides. I found the bindings on ejectors VERY nice, and if you do get rid of them, I will be the first in line please:D

I don''t see what the problem is. what you posted is very true, and in an ideal world that may work, but the end result is they get in a tangle, they spend 15-20mins fighting with said tangle until you can get to them (cos their about a mile downwind of you), and when you DO get there, all they want to do is cry and go home, cos their cold. not that I'm speaking from experiance of course. locally we have a lady now interesting AND she bought a kite, shame, its only been out ONCE though:rolleyes: and that ended up in tears and I want to go home, I'm cold, followed by make up to you food etc etc:)

helmet - always. knee pads - well my knees are already screwed from years of mtb'ing, however I don't wear them:rolleyes: spine protection - I'm still a novice and can just about get across the wind, if your up into jumping and twirls etc, then a spine protector from lidl will set you back all of £12-15.

yer, fabsil aerosol stuff works OK, well for cheap tents, fancy silicone coated triple ti fabricy jobs need something more complex but.... I've found with fabsil it will make whatever you've sprayed it on bead water more readily, but not really stopping the water getting thru.
