  1. Hey Lickedy.. Yep that's him.. I saw you guys on Saturday. I was having a surf/SUP. I had the bright orange 8'10".. waved a few times but only recognized Steve.. Sunday i took the dogs for a run about a K up the beach. but i just sat in my car because the weather was miserable.. Would have been a great day if it hadn't pissed down.. good breeze and big waves. all the things i love.. Anyway i intend to get a buggy one day so i may catch up next time.. Ben
  2. Yep. Thats him
  3. I was at my local (Birubi/Stockton) and i had just finished having a kitesurf when i saw this guy lugging this contraption through the soft sand.. He was struggling a bit so i cruised up to offer some assistance.. The said contraption was half wheelchair half bike with the peddles on the handlebars (he had very limited use of his legs) and on the back of the chair he had a peter lynn buggy and a couple of kites. i didnt quite catch his name as he also had a slight speech impediment.. It was after 4pm and it looked like some more storms were on the way so I decided to stay and help him out.. It would have taken him half an hour+ to run his lines. So i got his kite ready and launched it while he got his helmet and pads on. then i pushed him in his buggy down to the hard sand and got him on his way.. I was so inspired by this guy. A wet windy day on an almost deserted beach and nothing was stopping this guy from doing something he loves.. There was no "to hard basket" with this guy! Anyway you had to see it to get the real gist of it but i just had to get this feeling off my chest.. I asked him if he got to meet the kitepower guys (Steve) who where here over the weekend and he said he did. I had a lot of trouble hearing and understanding the questions i was asking him. i know he spent most his life in Port Douglas or Lincoln but i am not sure if he lives here now.. Did or does anyone meet or know this guy so they can enlighten me.. Next time i meet him i at least want to know his name. I hung around a while and helped him out a few times but then i had to go.. He told me he had only been buggying 6 months but was definitely confident enough.. Anyway what a legend. Ben
  4. As i have always said.. we have our own whether pattern here in Port Stephens.. woke up this morning to perfect blue skies and 15 + NW breeze.. I am stoked for the buggy guys Its a long way to come just to tag team a inflatable.. Surf is pumping too.. I just checked Samuri and if any of you buggy boys want to get some great barrels head 2 beaches north.. anyway off for a surf
  5. I was just driving past Birubi and i saw the kitepower car coming out with a couple of buggies tied to the back and a blow up doll on the roof... Must be Mayday weekend
  6. OK I am a kitesurfer but I have a flexifoil blade 3 (4mtr) on handles that i just use for a bit of fun. Yesterday I thought I would rig up an old cabrinha switchblade 2 set of bar and lines to my flexifoil.. Now what I figured was that the steering lines would go to the front/top lines on the kite and the power/depower lines would go to the back/bottom.. so i did this and the kite was uncontrollable.. so i switched the lines and it turned well but was fully powered the whole time.. to land the kite i had to pull the steering lines at the bar in.. then when thinking about it i don't really see how it can work.. With a Cabrinha bar & lines you push the bar out to depower but with the flexi you pull the bottom of the handles in to depower.. If someone could please help me understand this it would be macho grassy arsed.. yours sincerely..Confused

  11. Thanks for all the cool comments.. will definitely keep them coming.. @ southerly buster. Yes mate that is a 6'2" surfboard.. and no i don't think it makes the cutbacks any easier. I really enjoy taking a twin-tip out sometimes too. just depends on the wind, swell my mood.. I have surfed for 35 years so i feel pretty comfortable on a surfboard. in fact i am still very amateurish on a TT . I think my brain is just so programmed for my left foot forward that i struggle riding goofy .. But i totally disagree on the whole surfboard verses twin tip thing.. ANYTHING IS FUN BEHIND A KITE PS.. The band is the Refreshments..The album is Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy.. they had a one hit wonder back in mid 90s called Banditos and i ended up with the album on my iTunes.. when looking for a up tempo song the same length as the movie i came across that one.. The wife bagged me out and said it sucked so i am kinda glad someone else liked it
  12. Thanks Dan.. OK the marginal conditions was these frontal easterlies we have had the past week.. very gusty. ranging from 8-18 knots.. one minute you would be fully powered then you would just stop and sink.. thankfully the waves provide a nice apparent wind.. The kite is an 11 mtr SS octane. and the board is the 2010 SS Ben wilson pro.. Its an awesome board for a strapped kite specific board.. I have had several boards and this one just blows them all away..except for one unstrapped board i own which i like more..
  13. We just had 4 pretty crappy days of wind here on the mid north coast.. But I made the most of it.. For those of you who enjoyed my last movie and gave me incentive to make another.. Thanks
  14. If you like that beach for a buggy you would love the very next beach 2 minutes south.. I think some of you know it as Birubi or Stockton damn did i just give away my secret spot
