  1. Exams finally over, can't wait to get flying tomorrow!
  2. Really missing kiting these past few windy days with little rain... Exams and coursework suck...
  3. Ah I didn't realise how much of a beginner Aaron was, my bad! Definitely try to learn as much as you can on the fixed bridle before heading to depower, helps you to learn kite control whilst being on the board. Saying that I don't think a rush to depower is all that bad, you just don't get exposed to bad situations (being lofted and kite control in gusts/luffs) with the ability to drop the handles to kill the power. As long as you know where your safety is and are practised at pulling it, I don't see the issue with being on a depower early.
  4. Did you have anything at all in mind by way of what kind of depower kite you want? LEIs, foils and twinskin arcs all have a different feeling when flying. It's best to see if you can nab a go on one of each before you decide. If I ever get round to kiting again through all this coursework and exam revision you can have a go on my phantom. If you decide foils, I'd say 10m-ish would cover the most wind. For Bows/Hybrids maybe up to 11m and for twinskins my 15m seems to be about right, although a 12-13m would also suit most. Depends on your weight, flying style and skill really.
  5. Dave2's got a nice ring to it
  6. That'd be awesome. If you're still going PM me or stick it in here when you decide on times? Is everyone invited to this curry night or is just for you lot? I'd be up for it if I'm welcome
  7. I'd be up for it if I could get a lift off someone
  8. Note that if you can get to a train station in brum and there are people around at hearsall you can probably get one of them to pick you up from cov station.
  9. Oh wow thanks everyone! Woke up incredibly sore today! Looking forward to flying with you guys more. Looking into elbow pads though, the shower stung like MAD! Also, even though I subscribed to this thread it appears I'm not getting emails like I should...
  10. Hi all, Dave said there might be a lift available for tomorrow's Cleeve antics? If anyone's got space for me and my board/kite I can pay petrol money and bring snacks! If anyone is able and willing to give me a lift (from south cov) PM me and I'll shoot my phone number your way.

Saw your facebook messages. I've got a mate who's interested in starting kiting so I'mma bring my Beamer 2.5 back with me so he can play too. I thought about just strapping him to my phantom and watching him get dragged but I thought he'd probably damage the kite...

Can't wait till I get back now! I've found out a route that is only around 1.5miles from where I live, so getting to and fro should be easy enough. Might just walk it!

They may have had a club in the past but I don't see anything on the list of clubs now (I checked there before posting here and just double checked) I'll look into hearsall common, the name definitely rings a bell, cheers!
  15. Hi all, Hopefully this is the right place to post this so here goes. I've been out of the sport for a long time now (2-3 years) and I'm thinking of getting back into it. Are there any good places to kite around the Coventry area? I'm a student at Warwick Uni and don't really have my own transport save for a bicycle (not tried cycling with a board/kite on my back before but I reckon it's do-able) so anywhere within 5 miles would be great but other locations are still possible. I've done a quick search but my Google-fu has failed. Also, are there any clubs or groups that meet around here? For me, a big part of any sport is the social side you have with the people from the club or group. Thanks for any answers!
  16. oooo and good luck to everyone awaiting results

  22. Rushcliffe country park in ruddington is MEGA-LUMPY but still worth flying there if you can't always get to the airfield like me(no public transport from nottingham to airfield on a sunday). last time I flew there was ages ago now though as the airfields opened(plus the sh*te winds we get in summer(either nothing or waaay too much)). I recommend giving gary or elly a call, details on http://www.airbossworld.co.uk steer clear from st. anns if you don't wanna get shot or stabbed Don't go to forest fields at night Sherwood's cool though
