  1. That's the one! It's in the name! 😄
  2. Jojowing still make parachutes, but they long ago stopped making kites: http://www.old.jojowing.com/powerkiting/products.php Very kind of them to leave the old site up, though! I thought Elliot would have gone the way of the dodo, but no, they're still producing kites while far better-known brands have fallen by the wayside... https://shop.elliot.de/shop/liste/-4039000DBL/1.htm Does anyone remember the name of those cheap, patchily manufactured, but-when-you-got-a-good-un-it-was-good kites with the zebra stripes and red pattern? They only ever came in that design. Popular around 2010 maybe.
  3. "The shit", or just "shit"?
  4. ...and when your lid has had a knock, you bin it, right? Lids are not for life, they're for Christmas. That doesn't mean you should scrimp, it just means you might have to write off that hundred quid purchase sooner than you think. Don't trust your head to a lid that's had a knock and don't buy second hand lids.
  5. Being rude about asking for features on a free resource is really going to make people want to help you. Why not ask nicely, and offer to help with implementation or testing?
  6. I was a subscriber for a few years and enjoyed the amateurishly-written trip reports, but the reviews were a joke. They were too beholden to their advertisers to really say it how it is for any gear they reviewed. I'm amazed they lasted as long as they did.
  7. Edit: never mind
  8. Just like my daily commute to work. See how many GoPros you can see flying off at various points.
  9. What do you call those balls? Is that a bit of chandlery too?
  10. Hi folks - For the record, there are the prices which the kites finally sold for on eBay. Postage in most cases was around EUR35. In retrospect, I ought to have specified free shipping, trusting buyers to bid up a little higher and assuming that it'd be enough to cover postage. Scrub Vapour Mountain Board - hardly used EUR112.50 Ozone Access 2 8 square metre power kite RTF EUR280.00 Ozone Access XC 4 square metre power kite RTF EUR325.00 eBay charged me just over USD100 in fees, which was a surprise. Signing off! Good winds! regards Ben
  11. Hi folks - For the record, there are the prices which the kites finally sold for on eBay. Postage in most cases was around EUR35. In retrospect, because of the cost of postage from Ireland, I ought to have specified free shipping, trusting buyers to bid up a little higher and assuming that it'd be enough to cover postage. Ozone Cult 6.5 square metre power kite RTF EUR 96.50 Ozone Samurai II 2.0 two square metre power kite RTF EUR 41.50 Ozone Samurai 1 three square metre power kite RTF EUR 59.15 Scrub Vapour Mountain Board - hardly used EUR112.50 Ozone Samurai II 5.0 square metre power kite RTF EUR 96.50 eBay charged me just over USD100 in fees, which was more than I expected. Caveat Emptor! Signing off! Good winds! regards Ben

  13. Hi folks - Just bumping this as there are just eighteen hours to go on this auction for a selection of Ozone kites.
  14. Hi Mike - yes, it is. The auction ends on Sunday 1 November at eight in the evening. cheers Ben
  15. Hi Jerom - Thanks for your interest. I'm selling these kites on eBay, so I'm at the mercy of demand on eBay. regards Ben
  16. Good advice, dude - and thanks for the bump! cheers Ben
  17. Hi folks - Thanks for your enquiries via PM. I'm gonna answer them here because that way everyone gets to see my response. I'll keep the identity of the questioner anonymous - I can understand not everyone wants to show their cards! ;-) I actually have no set price in my head for any of the kites - I'm going to let demand on Ebay set the price. I started each auction at 0.99 euro cents and I haven't set a reserve. The Access 2 kite is ready to fly with original Ozone lines and Ozone depower bar (with Ozone safety systems) and comes in the original Ozone stuff sack (it could hardly be described as a rucksack). No part of the kite or control systems have been modified or adapted in any way. Remember you'll need a harness to fly this kite, otherwise you don't get the full benefit of the depower system. ...and now for the folks who've asked questions on this thread: As above, I'm gonna let market forces set the price - so get collaborating via PM to force the price down! I can't remember when I bought the Access 2 8m2, but it wouldn't have been before 2007, which as far as I remember, was the year it was introduced. I'm sure somebody can set me straight on that. Anyway, it's one of eight kites I use, so it hasn't seen heavy use. regards Ben
  18. Hi folks - I'm finally selling off all my kites in order to fund paragliding lessons! I'm selling six kites in all - these four are my fixed-bridle kites: Ozone Cult 6.5 square metre power kite RTF Ozone Samurai II 5.0 square metre power kite RTF Ozone Samurai 1 three square metre power kite RTF Ozone Samurai II 2.0 two square metre power kite RTF Note that I'm in Ireland, so postage to the UK will be €33.00 for the Cult and €31.50 for the Samurai II 2m2. (Those prices are Euro.) If I could post them more cheaply I would! regards Ben

    linux

I've been using Linux since about 1994 (and have worked with Solaris, HP/UX, AIX, Irix, even *spit* SCO). I use Ubuntu on my netbook, laptop and all of my desktop and server hosts. Don't let anyone tell you it's a Linux for beginners. It's every bit as powerful as any other distro - it's just that the Linux snobs disdain Ubuntu's ease and simplicity of configurability. Well, I've spent hours and days edit endless config files on other UNIX-alikes and I'll tell you, I'm pretty happy when (for example) Ubuntu recognises my 3g device as soon as I plug it in. Ubuntu's multimedia support is outstanding - just add the medibuntu repositories and you'll be watching, ripping and transcoding movies and music from and to a gazillion formats. Once you've tried Linux for a few weeks and realise that you're now free of virus checker updates, registry cleaners and spyware detectors, you'll fall in love with it. No operating system is perfect - not even Linux (!), but for me it solves nearly all of my computing problems elegantly. cheers Ben
  21. Hi BOB-BOB It's worth taking the time to read people's posts when they respond to your message! Which model is this Access? Mark i or Mark II? cheers Ben
  22. Hi AbsintheD - did you ever get any realistic offers on the buggy? Really sorry to hear about your back - I hope you're on the mend. regards Ben
  23. Hi Folks - The Jojo RM 4000 is still for sale - it's up on eBay now. Purchased new in 2002, this is one amazing race kite! Happy bidding... regards Ben
  24. Sounds like you've got a jammed bearing that's rotating against the plastic hub. Turn the wheel and look at the bearings on both sides - if they're not rotating, then you need a new wheel because the damage is already done. cheers Ben
  25. Hi - This has just been published on the Irish Power Kite Association website. Hats off to Phil Cameron for his openness in sharing this with us. http://www.ipka.info/forum/index.php?topic=51.0 Has anyone else heard about this? There are plenty of local clubs all across the UK who get their third-party and event insurance via PKSF, so the demise of the body is a cause for concern. regards Ben
