This thread is for posting and bragging about your top speeds, its been going for a while now, and Ive just foolishly taken stewardship of it

The official Australia records can be seen here http://www.extremekites.com.au/knowledge/buggy/speed records_australia

Rules for posting

1) all claims must include a picture of the GPS reading showing the max speed achieved

2) claims should include the following details

-Kite used

-Location

-Buggy

-Wind Speeds

3) Anyone making a claim should be aware that sometimes GPS readings are unreliable and occasionally Ghost reading can indicate speeds significantly higher that that actually achieved, its recommended that during your buggy session you keep an eye on the GPS to get an approximate indication of your speeds, if your max speed is unexplainably 10% greater than you general speed then there is a possibility that you have a Ghost reading.

The best way to check for gost readings is to upload the raw data to your PC and make a speed graph http://www.extremekites.com.au/knowledge/speed_graphs A gost reading will show up as a single point spike significantly higher than your general speed

I don't know about being the fastest, but have to say the fast speed set here in Vic.

Would love to go to SA and try the salt lakes, mmmm, 100 plus??

I do know that several of the SA boys (Dukey as well) have gone over 100kph, as their bike speedos they were using at the time, reset at 99.9kph.

So I know I am not the quickest.

Current fastest speed record is held by Luc S. a Canadian, at 72mph (about 117kph).

I'm sure Gary in his new modified buggy or Ben in his new V-Max (down at Sandy Point next weekend) might give the max speed a bit of push!!!;)

that is all well but you just gotta hope the wind will be good enough...

Goes without saying;) . But if no wind, then Ben might give his Suburu a bit of a high speed run on the beach:cool:

No Speed record here but got a personal best of 55km/h today. Man that's movin when ya that low to the beach. It also hurts when yeah leave it and land on the beach at 55km/h (who would a thought sand is that abrasive{NOT}) Got no photo evidence of the GPS as mine won't record top speed.(got photo evidence of the grazes though). Was cruising along fine until I hit a bumpy spot of hard packed sand and the back wheel lifted right about the same time as the wind gusted and A over T I went.

beach where... shallow inlet... the locals ring up and complain when ppl get down there and tear it up

it is illegal in vic to drive on the beach... but im sure u know that all ready,

Just kidding Schultzie:rolleyes: .........Ben wouldn't want to get sand and rust in his precious toy!!! Maybe he'll bring along his bat and ball!!! Are the locals OK with that?

How are the winds this time of year down south.....are they starting to abate?

Cheers

SHEPPO 145Kph is unconfirmed (i don't think he will get it confirmed)

joel has a speed but it did not count, as he did not have all 3 wheels on the ground at the time.

Come on any more, lets set some times to smash on the weekend.

Can confirm with witnesses..... Sorry no photo

My GPS made it to 69.7 km/h on the dry lake at Kingston this year, with my 2.5 Raptor.

I was trying for an even 70, but not so lucky this time.

The best speeds I have had would have to be on Lake Gairdner, in SA. Its a dry salt lake, the one they use for the FORD adds on TV. The area we have to play in is around 30km X 15 km and the speed runs here are as fast as you are prepared to push your buggy with the biggest kite you can hang on to, the last time I went my calibrated speedo on the front wheel registered --- It only does this at over 99 km/h........

Hi All,

On Saturday at 7 Mile beach (Shoalhaven Heads) I got upto 52.3 km/h using the Crossfire 4.0 :D I broke the local speed limit at least - here is the GPS pic although I took the picture this morning it can be verified from Saturday by another.

My fastest was on a beach in the UK pure flat sand like carpet and clean onshore breeze. I was flyiong my 4.9m Blade (Original) and my old pl buggy. I'd only just got my GPS and reached 72.3 was wicked. On my run back down the beach i hit a hole and lost a foot peg. Had to go 4k back up the beach with one foot. Nice.

ok looks like plenty of braggers. Rules for the top three positions. They must be pictures and confirmed by somebody.

This will make it fair for the top speed boys, with the sandy point weekend coming up, i'm sure we will see some high speeds so take your GPS's and camera.
