Details and pictures have been posted about the new 2010 Ocean Rodeo Rise Venturi with XPD Technology and the new 2010 Mako line of Boards.

The Blurb

6 strut design, they have eliminated the center strut. This improves aerodynamics in a critical area of the kite, and reduces weight where you want it least. The end result is a kite with yet more power, greater efficiency, higher stability, and a more rigid canopy less prone to distortion at the top end of its range!

XPD Technology. panels on the LE get exponentially larger when moving from the center of the kite to the tips, and that they mate up perfectly with the 6 strut layout.

Larger panels at the tips increase projected area, reduce drag, and provide direct steering input. The transition to smaller panels at the center better matches the curvature at the trailing edge, and provides better airflow and lift. More power!

It will come in 4,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,14,16m sizes.

I really like the bar changes, can't wait to see how they feel. The bar needed an upgrade, I liked the 2008 bar more than the 2009. This blows both away, hopefully the finished product is as good as the rendered.

The Blurb

This does not sound right. Was this meant to read, getting smaller from the center (large centre) to towards the tips (small tips). It is well understood that large panels or a long chord lengths near the centre and smaller chord lengths at the tips gives better or reduced drag, no the other way around. Sure theree may be minor variations of this due to wing sweep, but the overall trend is the same, big centre area, low tips, reduces drag. Also if you look at the picture of the kite, the tips have a smaller chord length than the centre region.

Or have I misunderstood what is trying to be said?

Norman

I think they said it correctly. structurally speaking and considering stretch in the material it makes sense.

and they are talking about the paneling that makes up the leading edge it self.

I think Badatit has hit the nail on the head.

They're talking about the curvature and diameter of the leading edge, not the sail panels as SB suggested. Although i did misread it in the same way, so perhaps they need to streamline their own explanations.

are we getting one of these to demo Joel?

I have no idea, with the lack of Ocean Rodeo dealers i'm not sure.

Where did that 12m go from last year too?? Are you hiding it somewhere

Yeah i'm hiding it somewhere, in a warehouse out the back of their canadian head quarters. :tongue2:

They never sent the 2009 demo, I know of at least 6 people who would have considered the upgrade from the 2008's if demos were readily available. See what happens for 2010, otherwise I have a strong feeling people looking to upgrade their 2007/08 gear will be switching brands.

Personally I think the OR gear is excellent, just seems that everyone that was meant to have a "demo" really was just using it as a school kite or trying to use it as a kite added to their stock, so we never got to try them you basically had to buy blind which is what I did however lots of others wouldn't.

That bar setup looks pretty damn neat.

- Does the quick release lock into the bar to hold it's position whilst unhooked? It says it does in the renders.

- What does the mini-fifth attachment clip to? It's shown in the photos but not in the renders.

- QR looks nice and easy to use. A little concerned about sand getting between the plastic, but i'll assume theres a bit of free play between the two moulded pieces.

- That donkey dick is huuuuge!

Was having a look at the OR Bar setup on their website last night and it does seem to be a very well thought out piece of kit.

Check out the Photo Gallery on their site for a detailed look at all the features

OR SLE Bar 3.0

Like the idea of using both ends of the centre line one for the depower trim and the othe for both front line flagging.

If you want to flag to 1 single front line you have to attach your leash above the bar.

That is a SWEET looking piece of kit !

Very tidy ... easy and simple looking.

Looks to have a similar amount of throw to most of the modern Naish bars I have used/seen. I like the release ... no dodgy red balls or vercro tabs. I hope to see the 'jerk off' become industry standard sooner rather than later.

Below the bar de-power looks tidy. Below the bar safety looks tidy too.

You got a demo coming Joel .... :D Bigs or Smalls ? :on_the_quiet2:

Awesome looking bar system....Big question is...How many fun vouchers for this piece of kit?

The only thing I don't like os the balls on the end of the trim rope, these have a tendancy to get caught in between the bars on the hook on the harnesses...It has happened to me with my Naish bars..

Looks real tidy though...

Cheers,

Barrie :D
