@Encona - can second that weather was great in Borth apart from a lack of wind - however by Monday/Tuesday the rain was set in proper and our campsite was flooded in places upto 2inches of surface water.

Did manage a few runs on the beach but more wind was really needed- nice break though.

Went up to SOR yesterday for a late afternoon session to blow out the sand - had forgotten how lumpy the wind is when it comes over the houses - but still not a bad session.

How is everyone anyone up for a weekend away soon ????????

Hi

There's a thread on racekites about Sutton Park flying locations:

http://www.racekites.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=22257

Can anyone on here help?

I've posted the text of my questions ont he thread here and will link to this thread so everyonce can see any replies you can:

There are a few fields around there that are often mentioned:

(1) King's field on Sutton Oak Road, Kingstanding, not in Sutton Park, but not far.

----- I've flown here a few times, but there are goal posts during football season and quite "public" though it's usually quiet during the middle of the day, ecept for dog-owners.

(2) Field just north of Powell's pool in Sutton Park. Near Boldmere Gate I think.

----- Not a very good location for wind and interruption from the rest of the public.

(3) Jubilee field, deep within Sutton Park where the Scout's Jubilee memorial is , on a hill, and seemingly best accessed by car through the Streetly Gate.

----- This looks like the best potential location. This is the one which I really hope has not got a wheels ban! It's the least "public" and probably safest for us kiters.

As I said, I think the old SPF'ers might have moved away (to the coast no doubt).

hi eric.... sp is dead for traction :(. got banned a LONG time ago.. we tried talks with parks/council etc etc but nothing ever got sorted...

SOR. sutton oak road is usable (not been my self since i moved out the area).

we have a syndicate field in lichfield now (yearly subs).... cantact lichrich for more info on that one ;)...

Now THAT *IS* sad!!!!

Been to SOR and got abused by a member of the public for bugying there, so I just steered clear, besides, there were too many dogs and their owners walking towards me and leaving their residues around!

If SP is banned, then SOR will definitely be!

This hobby is just geting on my nerves now: nowhere in the whole county that's any good to fly, where you can just get out and have some fun and some peace!

I has been in touch with LR before about the field, but to be honest, if I have to travel that far then nothing less than a whole is worth getting out for, and how often do I get a day free!!?!?!

That said, I might have to see LR and point any others to come in the same direction.

Gets on my wig that there are acres and acres of land in England and so few can be used for kiting.

Makes me sad :-(

indeed dude...it does make the "hobby" dificult hense we ended up with the sydicate field,, as i said i only stopped using sor because of distance once i moved... i found it to be a good local site :) and would still be using it now. as for the locals.. i found i couldnt hear the whine of thier mopeds/dogs/shouts due to my ipod being to loud ;) :) :D ...naah lol.. i got to know a few on there and it was never really a problem. doggy eggs could be an issue as you said.. the answer is buggy jumping ;).. lessons the risk of "spatter" ALOT hahaha..

SOR is still being used by some of us - no excuse really for me as i live less than 5 mins away . As for SP we have recently ventured back in on the field you mentioned and we haven,t had any issues - there has been quite a bit of activity in SP recently . Just watch out for the dog walkers and try not to pick really busy periods ..... Pm when your next out and we may pop up for a fly.

Another site where it states kites / buggies are banned is aldridge airport - but recently seen people flying on there myself ???????

Hope this helps

ive actually had police fetched to me at aldridge airport.....

as for sp.. use at your own risk but dont wear spf logo'd gear.. we know theres a ban.. they know we know theres a ban.. could maybe cause us probs in the future... i'll personally dont do traction at sp purley out of respect for the wardens.. great guys that kept us there as long as they could!. also.. its an official ban...wonder where your insurance stands with it??? .. we have a syndacte field because of said bans.. only reason to use sp (as a member of the spf) is because its close... wind there isnt the cleanest (although it taught us to fly better than most lol).. dogs/cows/people/bikes/kids etc etc suddenly make sor the better venue (certainly have cleaner winds there)..

basicly... SP was great in its day.. but i think its a mistake to go use a site we are clearly banned off.. no diff to going and buggying on blackrock or st anns etc etc etc mid day in the summer.. you wouldnt..
