Thanks for the advice mick,

I typically have really good luck with the Reactors... all else I have is the 4m Core and the 2.6m Viper S. Both are lower AR, but too small for the winds I had... in hindsight I should have had the 8.6m out. It is my most used kite lately, but I had limited time and didn't want to fuss with getting another Kite out.

Thanks again

Edit: I watched the video to remind myself and I'm pretty sure what happened with the kite turning into a wad had more to do with my not turning sharp enough... I was jibing downwind and went too wide ... if you watch you can see the lines go slack as I turned then get wrapped around my back axle, all that = a big wad of ripstop and dyneema

Mick, that's interesting advice as far as using a low aspect kite for speed in challenging wind and grass areas. That confirms what I have experienced with my Nasa star 2's versus my viper S's. I'm consistently faster with my nasa wings and have achieved my fastest speed on grass with them.

Also, I thought about collecting a quiver of Hornet like foils for a little bit of extra speed without sacrificing much stability.

My computer wouldn't open you video for some reason.

I didn't realise this was gonna turn into a pissing contest but as you know I fly at Stopsley. Which is big. 52 acres apparently when the diddys aren't on it.

Hopefully there will be some decent wind at Mable this winter. I've now got a job where I can kite on any suitable day rather than just Saturday or Sunday. Bring it on.

Robo and mick,

Soliver and I are currently in a race til death. Ok, actually it's just a friendly competition, but we are trying to see who can get to 27 on grass first. You guys could initiate your own race as well. Mick, I'm glad you made your advice public, I wouldn't want soliver to gain the upper hand. :D

You shouldn't have too much problem getting past 27 imo, however, you will find that you reach a point where the opportunities to go faster diminish. Whether it will be the kite you fly or the location you fly in, it will have its limits. Then your personal situation may change which will also limit you.

For me, now over 50, I find it unlikely that I'll beat my grass speed. Partly because I'm now in a job that means I'm not as physically fit as I used to be; the wind speed that day was perfect for the location and the kites I fly inland (Accesses) have their own limits in terms of performance.

But it won't stop me from trying (or hoping) :)

I wouldn't mind trying to get to 30 mph at some point, but I don't plan on breaking any records. My health plan deductibles are way to high to take any chances. The accesses seem to be very popular as a depower in the buggy. The only depower I have owned or flew was an arc.

Robo, as you're fully aware, Ive flown at Stopsley since 2003 but its nowhere near as big as Wallop. NOWHERE NEAR.

My top speeds have been achieved in a mildly modded barrow wheeled XR buggy. My best speed in my folder was 35mph. I lost most of my fillings and had blurred vision for a week after that.
