Roaddog Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Carl, like Matt says you need to use the figure eight loop knot, a simple overhand knot puts too much pressure on a very small area of the line which will cause it to break and the figure eight loop knot spreads the load much more evenly - here's how you do it. http://www.iland.net/~jbritton/figure8loop.htm Steve. Thats great Steve....when I get all my line next week that will be the knot....do you add a knot at the end to stop anything slipping through the sleeve? I haven't bothered with a knot at the end, as long as you tie and dress the knot properly on the sleeved area it shouldn't slip at all. See you friday afternoon.
Pilgrim Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 @ Pilgrim - posted my kite last thursday- heard back from Flexi today - they can repair my 2.5m bullet - to replace to blown cells - complete unsew , replace cells and restitch is going to cost 72 quid which encludes postage back from Belgium repair centre. just thought yuo might like to know that your beloved kite is repairable - oh and lead time 7-10 days Cheers Gav, a lot of dosh but complete unsew must take ages...will send mine Friday. Moby Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 Hey Atavar, just wondering where you fly locally?? anywhere around Sleaford for buggying?? Moby
Atavar Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 yep! do you know the field called DABS or Govenors field? Its down the estate on Tennison Avenue. They have just taken the goalposts down too its best from an easterly, fairly large not perfect but definately the best site in town. Its used by carres school and DABS junior football training so no go if thats on. I've never been kicked off but i've never been on when they are around. Where do you fly at the moment?
Moby Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 Through the winter used a farmers field in Dorrington but he now has horses on it, through the winter he will have some stubble fields empty but will ask around to see if there are any others around. Some guys from work go to a field in Branston that is not too bad. Other than that it is Airbossworld or Mablethorpe. Moby
Atavar Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 Cool. Would be handy to have a town site too though? I never learned to drive so am more or less town bound.
HOUSE Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 Mmmmmm.....................not looking a good week for evening kiting:o Low winds and really high tides. Perhaps things will improve for the weekend......

Atavar Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 We should all have a bit of a kite meet up some day. I'd happily approach St Georges about access to the school field if there was enough interest... don't know if it would work but worth a try some time?

That sounds great, I am a member of BPKA so insured. Let me know how you get on. I am have a bit to do with The William Alvey School, they will not let use use their grounds as they have been vandalised loads. But they may know someone on the Council that may know of somewhere that is available. Moby
