Noo Noo Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 yeah would be a nasty little gag that one. A little thought snap does you gaastra come with different knot settings on the front lines? just a thought I had on your new bar etc. Trim strap works fine but I do wonder if it has enough range / movement. An added option is to have a couple of different knots for your front lines.
snap1 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 I see what your saying NN I think it has 2 knots on it always tie it on the first set. Also I am gonna get rid of the north leash, as yesterday it just fell off whilst flying also times before on other kites hit release and the leash flew off . On my shopping list I have: -Front line stopper ball w allen key thing. -New longer leash with non north attachement clip. -5/6m inflatable

Spudley Posted April 2, 2008 Author Report Posted April 2, 2008 My Shopping list: 12m Synergy kite Spare bar and lines 20m No No No No What you really need is; Open eyes followed by; OR session harness OR Drysuit OR kite boards - ZEN, and 2 MAKO's 2x OR RISE 1 x OR SLE Bar OR Hoodie OR beenie Coldfire gloves and Boots They dont do underpants yet but when they do I'll let you know dont to forget the go-joe;)
Noo Noo Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 dont to forget the go-joe;) just thinking exactly the same thing Spuds. We all know how much DM hates body dragging. And of course DM should also add a Stinger or 2 so he can maintain his Guru status and have enough training kites. i reckon they might rock in a buggy as well spuds - and you buggy dont you...................... By the way I've heard nothing yet. Just getting into the swing. Its worth it just for the crack
Noo Noo Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 Looks like things are moving in the right direction people. makes any new kit choice a whole lot easier
mark o Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 what things are moving in the right direction... am I missing something? DM, sorry about the other night but that ward sister did not like me using the phone... felt like I was back in school being reprimanded.
Noo Noo Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 Marko Didn't you get my text the other evening? Anyway with a little luck joining Ocean Rodeo. Jeremy Tronet (team rider) is taking time off and I'm taking over. I wont forget you guys when I'm training in the Caribbean somewhere you'll be able to contact me via my website. I wish!! Truth is I've been asked to help them promote the brand in the UK. The offer has some benefits. Have I missed something in Marko World. Ward Sisters - nothing serious I hope
Spudley Posted April 3, 2008 Author Report Posted April 3, 2008 Can we assume that there will be some non-ocean rodeo gear available in the for sale section in the not too distant future. Can i put my name down for a demo on the Rise/mako twintip.
Noo Noo Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 demo's certainly Spud. I've no idea what exactly the benefits are yet but the likelihood is there will be some sales. Even thinking of updating the whole chabang. Question is to what. RISE, Diablo or a mix. i just dont know. We'll see what comes
mark o Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 As you are coming from a bow I reckon the Rise is most suitable, the Diablo is probably too much
Noo Noo Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 You went fro 'BOW' to 'C' Mark Agreed the Diablo is supposed to be a top end kite. But I'm still tempted - no backstall and I like the idea of really having to work hard. Still not sure which way to go. I could go 12 / 8m in whatever or sell verything i've got and get 2 new kites - 14 / 10m?? Dont know any thoughts guys? Anyway it seems official - I'm in :D :D Had a "team" email this morning. OR are pushing into Europe so look out!
Spudley Posted April 4, 2008 Author Report Posted April 4, 2008 its looking quite nice for a late afternoon session over crabtree, light wind ,but the sun is out.
mark o Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 NN, you are right.. I did come from the land of bow Was up the hospital as Sal was rushed up there with a suspected blood clot, 3 days of going up there and getting thinning blood injections before they could make an appointment for a scan... turned out negative
snap1 Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 NooNoo found your shower for the van LOL. http://www.maplin.co.uk/images/300/a63fn_action.jpg http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=48810&C=Newsletter&U=08P04-4_Sub2&T=12428970 Only £12.49 excludes batteries and bucket of water
mark o Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 Just think NN, you could re-enact the infamous Jeremy Clarkson shower scene from when he was travelling across the deep south.
Noo Noo Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 NN, you are right.. I did come from the land of bow Was up the hospital as Sal was rushed up there with a suspected blood clot, 3 days of going up there and getting thinning blood injections before they could make an appointment for a scan... turned out negative yes its time to move up the evolutionary ladder! Glad all is well. NooNoo found your shower for the van LOL. http://www.maplin.co.uk/images/300/a63fn_action.jpg http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=48810&C=Newsletter&U=08P04-4_Sub2&T=12428970 Only £12.49 excludes batteries and bucket of water Awesome Snap. Drawing up better plans this week. It's going to happen. cause its a bit old and tired the idea will be 1. get the bus on the road. Re-registered and new MOT. Talk about digging holes! 2. Convert in the simplest / cheapest way with plenty of scope for ongoing improvement. Measured the van again yesterday - bigger than I thought! I'm little concerned Snap that the Maplin Catalogue is on your reading list!! 3. Enjoy Just think NN, you could re-enact the infamous Jeremy Clarkson shower scene from when he was travelling across the deep south. I had the north pole toilet gag in mind actually........
DjMoz Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 All My car is suffering, thanks for the offer of help Snap but I think I will look for alternatives the time and / or cost may not be worth it, would rather spend the time on a vehicle I want. I am on the hunt for a van if anyone spots one. I want / Expect: 1. VW 1.9TD LWB T4 - Reliable and economical engine, best size 2. 100k Mileage and fsh Not too much more, I know the engine will have a good life. 3. Ideally ply lined. 4. Lifting rear doors rather than barn rear doors and 1 sliding door. 5. Should be able to get all the above for £3.5-4k, if vehicle is clean bodywork and good inside. If anyone sees anything close to this then please shout, second options of vans include Merc Vito and Toyota Hiace.
CorsaPete Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Hi All, Back now from my work trip to China, 1 month is a long time to be away from home. Also just got out of hospital on Thursday not allowed to do anything like kiting for 6 weeks:( Sorry to hear your car is not well Dave, been reading all the posts there has been a lot going on since I have been away. NN pleased to read about your new motor, will make changing a bit better and warmer. Also great news about your new kiting venture, sounds really interesting. Snap - how is the kite surfing going? Cant wait to get out again when I am allowed too, but will take a walk up crabtree when its a bit windy to catch up with everyone. See you all soon - happy flying Pete:)
Noo Noo Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 WAYHAY pete. Good to hear from you. Lots of catching up to do!!
CorsaPete Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Hi NN, See you have entered th van world now then, looks like you like a challenge. Cant wait to catch up with everyone, have not had the kite out for ages. Got new car now, this is what it looked like before I went away to China. Well what I mean is this was how it looked before Deb decided to put it away in the garage, and had a disagreement with the garage door. Yep all the way down the passanger side . This was 2 days before i went to China and the car was not even 6 weeks old, as you can imagine i was not very pleased with her. Managed to sort out the repair before I went away thank god. Well its now been repaired so I am now talking to her again, only joking So pleased to see everyone is getting on well, and that no one has managed to break anything - even spudly. Pete
snap1 Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Good to hear from you Pete, I now have all the kitesurfing kit, just new a few more sessions of managable wind to crack the waterstart! Have to come for a beer soon, not been to the pub for a while hey guys. Been crashing DM's house last few weeks with a beer or 2. I expect a few of us will be up crabtree in these lighter evenings, though well let the weather warm up a bit now
CorsaPete Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Glad to hear you now have all your gear now, what have you been up to at DM's then. Know what you mean about the weather though, bit chiili out at the moment. Must all go for a drink again soon and catch up on everything. Pete
snap1 Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Not DIY hey DM LOL I can't joke I am just as bad. Dave even got is hands dirty diagnosing his car which is one over me. I have neglected my car for a while . DM was helping me with my bar Pete, had another breakage on it, ended up just getting a brand new naish bar instead.
