snap1 Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 i should be out tonight Dave, txt ya later. Need a drink!
Noo Noo Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Interesting day Saturday. Useful reminder of the carnage that Poole harbour brings. I saw - A Cabrinha wrapped round a lamp column, 1 runaway kite, 2 kites feeling the love with one getting a little rough. Handlers were a little lucky there, I was very lucky myself just avoiding some kite luvin'. After all that I still had to pack down twice when my 9m didn't behave after some bad flying on my part. I was also clobbered by a nasty gusty thingy. Dont know what the wind was doing but I wasn't ready for it and couldn't hold it. I'm not very happy about that, should be better than that. Was nasty though. Mark if you keep your 9m I'll have to have the crack with you. A couple of things worth noting. Needless to say DM never saw any of it and no incidents to report other than some nutter on an Ocean Rodeo pulling a pussy loop right in front of him (wonder who that could be?) I could see the whites of his eyes like this - obviously in awe . Rode out the nasties very well though.
mark o Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Sounds like an interesting day was had, not sure what is happening but it seems like the tonker brigade has definitely decided to take up the sport. Bad news for everyone. Have not made my mind up yet with regard to the 9m, very tempted by either a 9m Fuel '07 or even an '07 Torch. Would be nice to try one out first thou'. Went to Hayling yesterday to see if anyone was crazy enough to head out, arrived at noon to see only a single kiter out on a Torch (believe it was Bully). Winds dropped off around 2pm and then others arrived. Was good to watch, highest boosts were coming from a guy on a Slingshot Octane.
DjMoz Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Saturday - Not a bad day, had a hearty breakfast needed following an amusing Friday night works xmas party. Standing on the beach (Poole) getting wet and cold wondering why I decided to come kiting, NN might have had something to do with it, thought that I might as well get my wetsuit on. After my much laboured getting into a wetsuit and launching other kites, waiting for another rainstorm to pass I eventually got my kite up. walking to the water I watch Col walking in with kite in hand, followed by the kites hitting each other and being jumped on - all miles away from me luckily. Once up and riding (low tide so a long walk) and straight upwind of...everyone I started to enjoy myself, took a while though as it was very gusty. Eventually NN decided to come back out to play. In the end a much enjoyed day and claim to being the last man off of the water (apart from one guy who went out just as I was coming in). Bows? who needs them, Arcs all the way. Also I heard BadgerB was out at crabtree on Sunday having fun on his 10m G1.
badgerb Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Bows? who needs them, Arcs all the way. Also I heard BadgerB was out at crabtree on Sunday having fun on his 10m G1. Ah, I have been spotted. Yes I did have a go on Sunday and very much enjoyed the time I had however having Mrs B and Miss B in tow limited my time to just under an hour flying which is a bit of a bummer. John from the previous page is in for a shock if he thinke he will be able to get out more with a little one. I could have less time in the new year as there is a Master B due April/March time. Anyhow as DM says Arcs all the way now.
Noo Noo Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Paff - flying sponges. If you all want to fly underpowered, I'll turn in half an hour kites that's fine by me. S'pose you could wrap your self up in one if you get cold BUT you dont have a ready made lean to type shelter do you. I'll be more than happy to drag you guys in when you cant relaunch too. partly bad technique, partly bonkers wind. Still alive Pumping gets you warm Pumping is good for the soul Pumping leads to enlightenment Expect the first pumping fitness video in the new year. great for glutes, hamstrings etc. Pumping in hot weather while holding your breath can give you a real funny high. Especially with some Vicks up your nose.......... Pump sharing is socially acceptable, a great way to socialise and offers little health risks In certain cultures pumping is a form of procreation. While pumping is not yet a recognised religion several americans have quoted themselves as "Pumpers" when asked their religion / beliefs. Another large proportion said Jedi (Strange people). please note that comparing the length of pump hoses is considered childish. Remember to lubricate to maintain a smoth squeek free performance.
johnforshaw2003 Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Badger is your G1 white think i saw it on the floor sunday at about 1530 as i passed with the family. Oh and its my second little one so ill have to see what happens.
badgerb Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Hi John Yes that was me with the kite on the ground (again). If you see it again come over and say hi. Also as this is your second child could you advise me as to if it is ok to leave a three year old looking after a baby in the car or do they have to be pegged down within a certian distance of where I am flying? And as for Mr NN's comments I do believe that several MP's and popstars have been caught and arrested for pumping in public so I converted to the religion of the sponge. On a lighter note please dont let this sport end up with a sectarian devide as I for one could do without the American's popping over to practise their frendly fire in the name of peace-keeping. May I also be the first to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Neil
johnforshaw2003 Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Badger you could do what i went and done and that was buy my eldest (18months old at the time) her own kite it was only a little Disney thing but she loved it. When I take her to fly it my kit just happens to be in the boot as well :-) If that don't work then im affraid you will have to keep pegging them down lol

snap1 Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 John, wheres her board? lol I did the same with my daughter except she prefered to get the kit up in the air let go of the handle and run after it. Meaning that I spend most my time chasing after her lol. Or she would be so fasinated with mine she kept wanting a go on it and the board, was temped when she had a paddy one day . I have not been out for a while now, would be good to cath u guys out some time... P

May I also be the first to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Neil indeed and thanks Mr Badger + family. have a merry old Crimbo from me too. Tried Little'un with kite. I have a tiny 2 liner in the garage / car. Interesting experience. the letting go thing happened here too. need to try again. Strangely (or not) he was more interested in pumping "daddies kites" than flying his little foil kite. Now what does that say................................... When will people understand that pumping in public should not be frowned upon. It is a natural extension of ones inner being and an essential past time for the serious and social high performance kite flier. Those that pump without purpose should however be locked up. Ditto those that pump without closing the dump valve. That's just sick. When it comes to Arcs, they come from New Zealand. I cant see an All Black flying one some how...................... "hello my name is Jona Lomu and fly foils" confession group or just wrong........................ :p far too early to be doing me any good Nadolig Llawen / Merry Christmas.
mark o Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 Makes me wonder what people think about us cross-kiters that love to pump but also appreciate and enjoy the relaxation of an ARC.
DjMoz Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 Ditto those that pump without closing the dump valve. That's just sick. If thats a cheap shot at me Mr Noo Noo - words later. As for the sectarian divide Badger, too late NN has set up the divide long ago. He has started the conflict and I am merely defending myself against his onslaught. He is recruiting new martyers in his quest so I am glad to have you on board to fight for our rights of the field. Marko - you are in no mans land but I fear too indoctrinated into the pump up brigade to be any use to the foilers. Anyway drink tonight all, combat shall commence at nine Bakers Arms. DM

DM KEH?? tell me you haven't.......... Well well well DM, wonders will never cease. I too am concerned about your "weekend" activities Marko. Please let me know if you feel that those lot on the other side are abusing you. The divide happened long before I started kiting. Lets just say I had a moment of enlightenment. DM please refer to your post at 1230 10th December. All I can say is "Pump like no one's watching"
snap1 Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 I would love to pump, still not got my kite yet hopeing for tomorrow. Will not be able to make it tonight company xmas party tonight. Weekend- What's going on, I might be grabbing a lession at Poole on sunday if all goes well..
mark o Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 Sunday is looking good... anyone up for heading down early and going off the sea front

Weekend- What's going on, I might be grabbing a lession at Poole on sunday if all goes well.. Have fun Snap. Re your lesson. Cant see it happening. Easterly winds which is a no go in the harbour. Shame. The front will work but they wont teach there. You could still play about and get hammered by the shore break though.
mark o Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 forgot to mention, if anyone gets bored on Saturday then they are welcome to pop over to mine and help untangle the line mess that belongs to my 9m
DjMoz Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 Kite test weekend - I hope to have two kites to test this weekend. I will be sorely dissapointed if not.... I mean two kites to help setup and ensure fly safely for the novice users! Weekend - Wind looks good, perfect learning weather. I think Poole should be fine as long as you are accompanied (someone to stop you sailing away) as it is cross shore so you should never be blown out to deep water. The problem I can see is the temperature. Forecast are showing from 2-6degrees. Brrrrrrr. Not sure how wet I will be getting in that. May be interested in a trip to the coast and go landboarding instead if too cold and watch snap get wet on a lesson. Go for it snap.
mark o Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 2-6 degrees, sounds lovely and crisp What are the two new kites that need testing? If they are water kites then DM will ensure they get wet and their water relaunch ability tested... whether its planned or not he will get them absolutely soaking.
DjMoz Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 Marko - Snap and Michelle should have their kites both after long waits. Michelle the Sof-x should be winging its way I think it was in the post yesterday. Snap after waiting a phenomenal two weeks for a payment to clear and now waiting the post should have it soon. I would be on the phone begging long ago - just send me the damn kites. As for getting kites wet.....you see the dark side is taking over. DM
Spudley Posted December 13, 2007 Author Report Posted December 13, 2007 Looks like i may be able to come to the pub at last. As an enlightened pumper, but not too sure which side of the table to sit as i also: buggy with foils:o (only occasionally though)
johnforshaw2003 Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 Out of interest where is the Bakers Arms?
