snap1 Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 DM I will txt u later if I can make it... Colyn are you going to bring more chicken news to the table tonight?
Noo Noo Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Fowl News Investigation discovers possible Fowl play This mornings feeding frenzy and egg collection was once again greeted with poor production results. Production has slumped to an all time low of 0% However upon examining the one of the nest boxes a broken egg was found. Therefore mutiny / industrial action is a distinct possibility. The management will be seeking to open more effective channels of communication with the workforce and will shortly be contacting the relevant union. A management representative has been quoted as saying "we are extremely dissapointed in recent events and production results. We will be looking at unscrambling this unfortunate situation with a view of cracking a solution before the owners return. Poaching resources from alternative sources is alos being investigated. It ultimatley boils down to keeping everyone content." As part compensation extra feed was provided this morning. Watch this space
DjMoz Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Wow - I can only guess at how long you spent on that! Weekend forecast - interesting and boarderline. Sunday does not look good wet and stormy am followed by a no wind afternoon.... Saturday looks better but it is dropping to marginal conditions in the pm. Better the more west you go. So its a risky PM trip to poole but prepare for a dissapointment. DM
Noo Noo Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 surpisingly short actually. 90% completed in the car on the way in. Still undecided. Do I have 1 guaranteed honking / blown off the water day in N Wales or risk an OKish double header. Checking forecast again soon. Lunch time is decision time. Anyone up for a double header?
Spudley Posted November 16, 2007 Author Report Posted November 16, 2007 Very varied forecasts depending where you look!!? Shoreham looks to have good wind early on sunday. with a midday low tide. Littlehampton could be good too. Bit pushed for time on saturday, so probably only going to make it sunday.
mark o Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 NN, great amusing story DM, Saturday does look like a waste of time but possibly worth watching the live weather feed to see whether the wind arrives (but I doubt it). Sunday brings with the wind (Hayling estimated around 20 knots) some big'ish waves and rain... but if might be worth a trip.
DjMoz Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 My instinct is that Satuday is looking better than Sunday. There will be ind in the afternmoon it just depends if it is enough in time (not an hour before dark). Sunday looks too risky with a major front going over that looks unkiteable - a lot of rain and maybe some wind. If it does clear to a suitable degree it might kill the wind. And just to finish it off have you seen the temperature forecast! Saturday 6-8deg in the afternoon, Sunday 3-4deg in the afternoon!!! Paul -both days fail your rule.
Noo Noo Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 DM could be right. Just a question of when. Sunday looks bonkers. Never seen pink and purple on the Guru before. Decided to head up north. I'll get a good day tomorrow. Down the beach early and see how long it is before it gets too much. Sunday I'll see. Give us a shout if your planning a Sunday PM session. I will have to stay down soon. Painting to do - honest
johnforshaw2003 Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 I drove past the entrance to crabtree plantation this afternoon (wanted to stop but wife stopped me) is there parking just inside the entrance? and how far is it to walk to the field where you all fly? oh and is it easy to get down there? Dont think ill be able to get down till my missus gives birth as its to risky if she goes into labour i might not get back quick enough.
DjMoz Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 John - Rather than park at crabtree entrance on the A33 (plenty of parking) its a little closer to drive to the main roundabout and go straight over, take the first left (slip raod) to Blackdam. Follow this around until you get to blackdam ponds (on the left at the road bears to the right). park here and walk up. If coming from Hook it may be just as quick to park at the crabtree end and walk a little further (not far).
badgerb Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 Hi john Crabtree parking at the top in the woods is further to walk to where the flying is done and imho not the best place to park as it seems a bit isolated at times. If you went past with the entrance to the woods on your left (going towards b'stoke) then take second exit off roundabout with the lights and then take the first slip road off the duel carrageway, just follow that road and as it bears around to the right there is an entrance to parking next to a kiddies play area (dump the wife and kid there like I try and do) walk under the underpass and follow signs to Crabtree plantation. The walk is uphill to the field but it is shorter than the plantation parking and after a knackering session the walk back to the car is downhill. Good luck with the new arrival, my misses is expecting in March/April with number two but don't forget as the seller of the last kite i bourght said "you can't hear them when the wind howls"LOL Neil As he said above.
Spudley Posted November 18, 2007 Author Report Posted November 18, 2007 Think i will give it a miss today, just looked on xcweather and the map is covered in red arrows, anything from 9-45mph. Temperatures are well below my comfort buffer of 10 degrees too;)
snap1 Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Guys what do you think of this wetsuit? http://www.wetsuitoutlet.co.uk/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=16&products_id=59 Price seems very good, or there are a few Gul's for £80 Cheers Paul
DjMoz Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 For that price I dont see how you can be far wrong. Bargain, a thermal rash vest cost nearly that price. If it fits then it will do a good job. DM
mark o Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 With wetsuits you really do get what you pay for, with the forecasts saying that this winter is going to be harsh it might be best to get a known good winter wetsuit. Downside is that they generally cost a bit. If you can afford it then the best is the mini-zip from Snugg which uses the best available thermal materials and is custom made in the UK (made me feel good supporting our own cottage industry). Alternatively get yourself down to Shore in East Wittering (http://www.shore.co.uk) which have a massive range of wetsuits in stock including the likes of C-Skins starting at £120.
DjMoz Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Nice one mark, Snap check out this one. Only a small left and close enough to go and try on. http://www.shore.co.uk/showPart_mtx.asp?part=89424806
snap1 Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Thanks guys! DM that one has heavy discounts on it looks like a great suite for just £99, I have emailed asking if I order online and it did not fit well that I could exchange. I am not sure when I would be able to take a visit down that way? Made my first purchase today, billabong wetsuite hood brand new £5, at least my head will be warm now lol. P
Noo Noo Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 Thanks guys! P geting it sorted Snap. Good stuff. A good fit is important though. Nothing worse than a good flushing HOOD!!! What's up with you lot. Ten minutes of "Ice cream head" and you're fine. (I do have one but never worn it) It isn't cold yet. Dont need gloves yet and I may have got away without boots too. However, I do predict more paniced / frenzied kahuna searches come January. Please tell me someone down here made the effort over the weekend. Had a very powered bumpy session (2 - 2.5hrs) on Saturday. Had to come in the end as I didn't fancy trying to self land in 30 knots with some nasty fronts coming in. I was the only one there. Got that frustrated wish I'd done more feeling today. Ah well its windy again. Next week eh. Decision made. Noo Noo is now saving for an adventure wagon. Min 4 berth , inc. shower and cooking stuff.
snap1 Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 I never made it out , Sunday was cr@p.... Hey Noo Noo google'd "adventure wagon" and came up with this can you confirm http://www.playsafekids.com.au/product_images/adventure%20wagon.jpg
Noo Noo Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 OOh classic. look at those lines. Good MPG too. But a little too rugged for my liking. Doesn't quite sleep 4 either. Does seem to come complete with potential kite ***** though. Could have doen with that over the weekend.
mark o Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 Saturday was a no go and Sunday... well I guess we have to be honest and say that we wimped out on the 40knot gusts. Perfect conditions all week it would seem
Noo Noo Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 Big shame. Adventure wagon combined with my (cross fingers) 9 day working fortnight may help to sort these issues.
snap1 Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 Ordered my wetsuit, rash vest and gloves today. Though I went for a cheaper option with discounts, so the kit was fairly expensive rrp but discounted down to a level I could afford, so meet half way:). If I had bought an expensive suite my it would have gone to waste as the Mrs would have cut my balls of any way lol, thus not needing such warmth . Slowly getting there, just the kite, board and lesson!
Noo Noo Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 Dear Marko What are you up to dear fellow? Just saw your post on kiteboarder enquiring about kites without bridles. I am concerned that you may have "lost the head", or been corrupted by DM. Truth is I'm being nosey. DM will want to know too. Regards Mr N Noo
