DjMoz Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 DM now has a bad habit of gauntlet throwing. SOOO many challenges. I happily bite every time and its great. Luvin it. Apparently Colyn has now pussy looped his new 16m kite and reckon he landed it:rolleyes: . Game on then Col, not taking my 16 to Tarifa but will be practicing all the same. Not a huge amout of wind forecast for Tarifa, it will be 16-13m weather but only taking the 13 so had better practice and take advantage of the lighter winds. DM

DM Did i miss out on some wind? Colyn, i got new pullies and some bridle line, but got 6mm dyneema(way too thick i think) just re-ordered some 4mm, might call on you to supervise when it arrives, scissors and knot tyeing unsupervised may result in disaster.
DjMoz Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 Paul NN was in Wales, no wind around here hence I was quiet this weekend. Have you completely rebuilt that Warroory yet? DM
Spudley Posted October 22, 2007 Author Report Posted October 22, 2007 Paul NN was in Wales, no wind around here hence I was quiet this weekend. Have you completely rebuilt that Warroory yet? DM So far it's had several bladder leaks welded shut, a pinhole repair, the dog went through the canopy(4 inch tear), new depower/chicken loop and a pending bridle/pulley upgrade. It all adds character
mark o Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 DM, Hope you have a great time in Tarifa... fingers crossed the wind is better over there than here.

DM Right there's some funny history here. I challenged DM's kite loop efforts on the basis that the kite never made the loop - hence a kite Lo--. BIG kahunas for having a go. DM retorted "First to loop the 16 then". Now there's a challenge. Sunday was pants, only about 10mph or so but worth giving the 16 a go. Up and planing but no chance of upwind. About to come back in after a couple of runs when i remembered a certain challenge:rolleyes: . Out we went again and YEHAA. Tried 2 before the wind really died. The phone call was a classic after I sent DM a text. "Down Loops dont count" "Nope, Proper kite loop, Sent the kite, jumped and pulled it down and round" Phone goes quiet. "Did the kite go right the way round then?" "yup ZZ Top hasn't got wet yet" I wont claim a full on kite loop though. So Pussyloop is correct. In Fact everyone should have a go at one. If you delay the loop until you're on the way down after a jump you can really reduce the pull. 1. Grossly underpowered 2. Bum checked it. Landed the second but crashed a few yards later (bad body position). ONLY CLAIM WHAT YOU LAND eh DM HAVE FUN IN TARIFA BUDDY. hope you dont regret not taking the 16m The Answer is pretty sweet. Pretty light in the bag too. NExt moves for me are sorted I think. Really work on those rotations and transitions plus the loop then start putting them together. Really fancy a go at an aggresive kite loop transition where the kite is looped straight away rather than sending it and down looping. Can we have some wind please
DjMoz Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 Well done Col, we have to get you pushing it somehow. See you all next week. DM
Spudley Posted October 23, 2007 Author Report Posted October 23, 2007 this video may well inspire you two; http://www.kiteforum.tv/component/option,com_videos/task,show/id,1910/Itemid,30/

Spudley Posted October 23, 2007 Author Report Posted October 23, 2007 I am working till monday:rolleyes: looks like the wind is finally going to play fair, think a red bull session might be in order, sunday will probably be best for me.
mark o Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 Excellent news The news of wind for the weekend is brightening up my week
Noo Noo Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 Woahh Mark / Paul. After recent history I'm refusing to accept the forecast until Thursday / Friday. Please do not put this at risk by placing the kiss of death on any potential wind. I'm dying here especially after my ill fated dabbles over the last couple of weeks. Good to hear that you both might be available though keep in touch guys I feel the need for Monday aches and pains
snap1 Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 I fancy getting out, have not been out for a while now, been so busy at work and over the weekends, however not sure yet if I am free from work this weekend, NN where did you have in mind? P
Noo Noo Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Howdy Snap. good time in Blackpool? See any kiting? This weekend - not sure to be honest. See how it goes. Need to look at tides as well if I stay down in this part of the world. But they're not an issue in N Wales. I'm in serious need of a fix. If you're interested then we'll need to consider a good beach for everyone. Any suggestions anyone?
snap1 Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Did not see any kitesurfing in Blackpool, even though the conditions looked ok? Spent most the time stuck in queues for the roller coasters. It's not looking good for me this weekend, I am having to do some work Friday night which could go well if not I will be in all weekend, so don't worry about beaches for me. If I can come I would just like to watch some good kitesurfing! Cheers Paul
mark o Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Wind direction looks good for Poole on Saturday and also perhaps Sunday.
Noo Noo Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Poole would be OK. Cross shore on the front. On shore in the harbour but busy. Hayling too depending on tide times. Do clocks go back this weekend? Must remember that
mark o Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 front would be pretty empty i expect... and the summer only folk may well be starting to fade away.
snap1 Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 I am suffering.... I found myself none intentionally watching kite vids on youtube for two hours tonight lol , **** I need a get out on a good session. Need some good wind to progress. R u guys going to the pub tomorrow? Are not many around this week. I am also getting very interested in kitesurfing, is this time of year a good time to get a bargain? Cheers P
snap1 Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 LOL Me again If you have not already seen it check out this free online kitesurf mag http://www.iksurfmag.com/ They have a new one comming out for land too. Has be worth a view guys!
Spudley Posted October 25, 2007 Author Report Posted October 25, 2007 I am also getting very interested in kitesurfing, is this time of year a good time to get a bargain? Cheers P Should be some bargain 07 gear about as most manufacturers are bringing out all the 08 gear.
Noo Noo Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 Hi Snap. Bargains everywhere these days. Just a matter of picking the right stuff. The market is so aggressive that last years kit and the second hand market have no value. Great for us. Spuds right too 2008 gear is out. There is the usual mad scramble. I saw a 12m Caution Answer KO go for £170 the other day. Not a kite recommended for beginners but still a reflection on the market especially if you go for something a little out of the ordinary. Patience and a little bit of research needed. Always willling to help.
mark o Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 Patience and a little bit of research needed. Always willling to help. DM and NN make ideal test pilots for any new purchase
mark o Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 Forecast is good for Saturday, Sunday should be blinding.
Noo Noo Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 Patience and a little bit of research needed. Always willling to help. DM and NN make ideal test pilots for any new purchase PMSL make me feel like I've got no hair, I'm a little stiff and have black and yellow circles for Bling. OH Watch that DM test pilot. Anything that doesn't auto zenith gets crashed and you wont see it for over an hour. Tell a lie. You will see it, as a spot on the horizon Shame he isn't around this week Checking forecast now Mark. What to do, what to do, what to do, what to do.......... Aaarghh I NEED HELP. Its windy everywhere........ Tides aren't quite right. Highs at 1200 - 1300 I think lows at 1745hrs Sat and Sunday (clocks turn remember) so it'll be dark by 1700 on Sunday. Poole will be NUTS. Sandbanks is an option N Wales - fabulous but travel
