Noo Noo Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 If its a goer I'll leave work at 4. bring everyone. the more the merrier I say. That's why I've put the idea forward now. get everyone involved in the idea and planning plus giving people enough time to sort finances etc. I certainly know I need the time.
DjMoz Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Will think about tomorrow, not sure yet - it will be a late decision. Holiday will be interesting, not convinced about the exotic desire but could be interesting. Cheap and cheerful to Kenya/egypt/Morroco/Spain are all ideas. DM
Noo Noo Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 In Noo Noo world all of the above would be exotic, except Spain maybe - is there a posh end? Good forecast at the moment DM. Hmmm
Spudley Posted July 16, 2007 Author Report Posted July 16, 2007 looks like i cant make it tomorrow now. may be heading out during the day solo instead

air stiffler Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Hi Guys, I have just moved to Guildford and am working in Basiningstoke. Where abouts do you guys fly? Do you have room for one more?
Noo Noo Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 We are getting popular. yeah, always welcome new faces, more fun. for the land stuff we fly at Crabtree which is a big field next to Junction 6 of the M3. We park at Black Dam ponds. i'm sure there's directions in this thread somewhere. Alternatively there's the North Hants buggy club field in Cliddesdon which you need to be member. Speak to the local shop called "Kitesup" for details. From memory its £100ish a year. I'm not sure if any of our little crew is a member to be honest A few of us are drifting more to the coast and the wet stuff these days. Land stuff when time is short and the winds look a little iffy.
DjMoz Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Hi kate, the best spot is probably crabtree. works best in any Westerly winds N-S,from the m3 jct6 turn left at the main roundabout, follow signs to black dam ponds(1st turn on the left) park in the ponds car park, walk under the subway and follow path bearing left. as the path heads up the hill you will see the field, ideally the wind blows up the hill,if it is then go at least halfway up the hill to avoid wind shadow from the trees at the bottom!! also be aware of the picnic tables at the top of the hill if boarding/buggying:eek: More than welcome, no rules but common sense prevails, its not a huge area and it is shared with all memeber of the public, dog walkers and families. Common setup is at on the right of the hill(looking up). DM
DjMoz Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Colyn you beat me, I was looking for the post. DM
Noo Noo Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Happy belated birthday DM Down hill now buddy. from and older git
Spudley Posted July 18, 2007 Author Report Posted July 18, 2007 Yeah happy b'day for yesterday Dave, from an even older git:D That was a great session yesterday, glad i had the luxury of a lie-in this morning.
Spudley Posted July 18, 2007 Author Report Posted July 18, 2007 Common setup is at on the right of the hill(looking up). DM Or the left, but not the middle, please Do come and say hi when you come along,we are a friendly bunch and it leaves more space if we all set-up in one area.
air stiffler Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Thanks for the info. I think I know your site as I have seen a bow flying near J6 the other week. Which is the best wind direction?
Spudley Posted July 18, 2007 Author Report Posted July 18, 2007 Thanks for the info. I think I know your site as I have seen a bow flying near J6 the other week. Which is the best wind direction? west blows up the hill, more south-west will give the cleanest wind.
Noo Noo Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 considering weekend options guys. I might be around. Spuds off to Camber (lucky B******). No wind forecast in our immediate area but maybe if we travel a bit. I'm thinking it over, is anyone up for a little road trip? Saturday PM say. No mad rush to get back is there? (considering such ideas - does that make me hardcore kitesurfer or a nutter or both?)
Spudley Posted July 19, 2007 Author Report Posted July 19, 2007 Saturday is looking good at camber. http://belmullet.mayo-ireland.ie/Claggan.htm link for a possible cheap holiday?450 euros at the height of the season and guessing it would work in any wind direction http://www.mayo-ireland.ie/Mayo/Towns/Belmul/claggan/claggan2.jpg
Noo Noo Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Cheers Paul. Definately give that place some thought thinking hard about paying you a visit on Saturday.
