DjMoz Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Afternoon guys, been quiet recently as bno wind. Distant forecast shows wind - easterly for Saturday so keeping an eye out, so maybe leave some time free. Although Devon the following weekend. DM
Noo Noo Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 been so flat for so long you must have finished the house by now DM.
DjMoz Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 Been flat but there is now a breeze, I use the word breeze lightly 10+ mph average probably. I am out this afternoon to enjoy the sun in it anyone else around? Jamie - Give me a call regarding the Harness, I will be getting one this week, if not next weekend so you can pick this up this weekend. I am using it today though!
daveywavey Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 Anyone planning to be out tomorrow afternoon? I will be up if the winds up. Only got my 11m at the mo but it will have to do! Ive heard theres usually a fair amount of people out on Sundays in the summer.......
Spudley Posted April 22, 2007 Author Report Posted April 22, 2007 will try to get out this afternoon if we get any wind.
Noo Noo Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 hi guys. A few out yesterday wasting our time. I'll keep an eye out the window. Doesn't look promising
daveywavey Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Yeh let me know if your on your way - if i do it will be 2ish onwards.........wind on bbc scheduled best at 4ish
Spudley Posted April 22, 2007 Author Report Posted April 22, 2007 GB windmap says 12mph right now. worth a try after all this zero wind:o
Noo Noo Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 Just missed you. Got there just after 5pm. Not a bad wee session I thought. A bit light but after the weeks of doldrums just nice to get out and remind myself of what my kite looks like. Spud have you had any joy with that strut yet?

Hi Colin, Not had a go yet, hoped you would call by some time. meant to ask daveywavy yesterday as i know he has repaired a bladder b4. Ran out of time though:rolleyes: need to get it sorted by the w/end ready for the ho trip!
Noo Noo Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Right best jump into action then. I'll see if I can get round Thursday evening any particular time suit you. Might have to be a little later as I look after my little one until 8ish. Shouldn't take too long though. I'll give you a ring later. oh yes small detail I've got a 9m on the way................................
Spudley Posted April 24, 2007 Author Report Posted April 24, 2007 what ya bought? does it end in an oooo? or staying with O.R? thursday will be fine, thanks.
Noo Noo Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Staying O.R. One bar between both kites. Should be sorted now from 15 to 35knots. (I hope) I'm warming to the whole O.R. thing. While the ONE is a bit Quirky reports have the 9m as the 'Special one' of the bunch and truth be told after our last few outings the 12m does everything I want of it. Including scare the c*** out of me but the float wins me over every time. Over 10 knots I find them stable and predictable. Back up and people I've spoken to have been really helpful. Downsides are; a) Wish they were a little quicker in the turn but steering mod is fitted to the 12m. jury's still out. shouldn't need it on the 9m. b) Still getting used to the High Aspect thingy. c) kite gets stuck at the edge sometimes but its ony and issue in low winds. 15knots + and the problem starts to dissapear. (coast weather) Oh yeah I got a reasonable deal. Do you think I waffle. Re the bladder - any idea how big the hole is?
Spudley Posted April 24, 2007 Author Report Posted April 24, 2007 Think the hole must be big as it wont hold any air. Will have a go at removing it later today if it stays dry
DjMoz Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 New Harness in Hand - The Ion Hummer. I am not convinced looking at it a second time, nice and simple but... we shall see after a good session. Weekend looking poor. Saturday should be okay 15mph, Sun 10mph and Monday less. All an eastery which is off shore in that Devon Region, so it looks like I will stay dry. DM

Jez may bring his surfboard.
DjMoz Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Dont worry - its already in the car! (not quite but certainly wont trust the forecasts). How did the bladder repair go? Sounds good that 9m OR Col. Just need a decent wind again.
Spudley Posted April 25, 2007 Author Report Posted April 25, 2007 Colin did a good job on the repair, all ready for the w/end. Cheers Colin. Got out for a couple of hours today, just the firebee/buggy, got a few good runs in. The dog is going to sleep well tonight, he must have chased me for about five miles:eek:
mark o Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 Hi Wondering if any of you can recommend any good spots around the Basingstoke area. Been down to that big hill slope at Black Dam that overlooks the M3 which seems ok but am wondering if there is anywhere else? Thanks, Mark
daveywavey Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 The only other place is a farmers field in cliddesden which you have to pay an annual fee for - heard its good though - just not worth the money.
