had a go with an 8.5 blade and got some intresting results. Basically had the blade on the bridles and just couldn't control the blade whilst blasting down the hill (there was NO wind). Tried it once whilst running and go no lift and had the same problems. May work better if you try to get some of paragliding harness setup. I would like to try it again with some wind and see what happens. May be able to control the kite a bit better.

Sounds like a case of the old MBS ad that ran in the states.

Dude dials 911 on his mobile - "can you send me an ambulance please"... rips it down the mountain, last seem flying through the air.

Just make sure you video it all so that you've got the money from Kirsty's home videos to make a decent donation to your local air ambulance after they've lifted your broken heap of a body to the traction ward...

...I must be getting old or something?

it wouldnt work with blades would it - Id have thought the ar was too high, higher than what those ski guys were using anyway. It looks fun, but Im not sure you could reach the relavent speed, and remain stable enough for kite control on a board - they were going damn fast when they started to lift off.

Not a problem with the AR - Armin has converted a 17m Speed into a paraglider, and some of the DHV3 canopies are equally mental.

However, you're far better off trying this with a paraglider... and knowing how to paraglide would help too!

Well we've got the paraglider...... 27.3m of goodness...... but no lessons yet. We might rent it out but if in the process of breaking yourself you rip the kite or cover it in bodily fluids, you will have to pay for the cleaning/repair bill :p

are you saying you feel like taking a dhv3 wing down a hill, sounds like certain death! you arent looking for an ar anything like a paraglider for that kind of thing - you want something with a smaller ar id say, to stay nice and stable, and to actually make it down the hill - Id say a more likely answer to the want for flight in downhill runs would be a more handgliderish design - kitewing style :D but bigger, with a more aerofoil shape.

I wouldnt advice trying that with a paraglider i have to say. Sounds like a bad plan - wouldnt they be too big, and even dhv1 type wings i wouldnt expect be as stable as what those guys were using.

it looks dangerous enough with the kit in the video - anyone know any base jumpers? - reckon theyd lend some kit?
