gohard Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 Im trying to work out which GPS i should be buying. Don't want one of those separate wrist band and units, just an all in one that I can use on the water and on the land. Anyone here had any luck finding one that isn't to bulky and does both. Trying to keep it under $400 Quote
Goz Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 Garmin E-trex or a Magellan Explorist might be the go both are water resistant to some degree. Quote
.Joel Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 Hi Mate, I know Nigel, Dukey, Gav all use the E-Trex however all have them in sandproof / waterproof cases, so not sure if they are the best bet. Here's a waterproof GPS case that may be another option: http://www.mapsdownunder.com.au/cgi-bin/mapshop/MG-AQUA110.html Regards, .Joel Quote
lickedysplit_au Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 Would have to vote for the Garmin E-Trex. I am on my second one now, first one was ran over by a 4X4 AquaPac's are bloody excellent. Am going to grab one or 2 myself Quote
scopeman Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 I have the E-Trex and have it in one of the Aquapac 206 Sports cases. It is straped to the down tube and you just look down to see your details. All up <$250-00. Google Johnny Appleseed for good local supplier Don Quote
SHEPPO3930 Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 i also have a Garmin, waterproof, shock proof, dust proof, etc. it's a good unit IMO. Quote
Goz Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Just watch out for the North American units on ebay as well apparently they aren't covered by warranty here in Australia. Just like the cheap notebooks we keep seeing turn up at work, I've heard "but the guy on ebay said it would be covered under warranty" to many times of late. Quote
Goz Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 If your just after a cheap way to log your rides one of these Bluetooth GPS loggers might be the answer.
