Going for a late one in Roundhay tonight. I'll be there at 7:30, do come.

sadly can't make tonight, been up there since about 11am and just got back now(4:30pm) has been a bit gusty but not too bad at all. way too many badly supervised small children about, one ran in and tried to get hold of the handles to a 5m beamer before i shouted at it and its mother decided she should step in, and then there was the families who feel they have to walk straight through the middle of a bunch of parked kites (stakes were about 4m apart so they were parked prety close together) and then ignore you completely when you try to explain why what they just did was dangerous. ok rant over.

and kit in regards to my thoughts on the blade II 4.0, its a lovely kite, i fly mine over any other kite i own (checks sig, ok there isn't really any compotition). in high wind it can get a bit lifty in the buggy but its not that bad. not as quich through the sky as the blade III's but fairly predictable and pretty stable.

from what i recall (and don't quote me on this) you aren't allowed anything with more than 2 wheels. though at worst all they can ask you to do is stop riding it. i've had a look round the entrance to the park and haven't seen any notices stating the rules (doesn't mean they aren't there just that i didn't see them). I buggy up there from time to time and have never been asked to stop. I've heard rumours that jimmy savile has been known to call the park rangers if he sees people out buggying but i've never seen it happen. static flying is definatly ok, though i'd make sure your insurance is paid up as there are a fair few people up there who don't realise the dangers involved with big kites (see my post above)

ah,good old jimmy.Met him once in a pub in scotland........definately a sandwich, porkpie and scotch-egg short of a picnic that one.

Would agree with your comment about the idiocy of people:last time i was up a woman with about 7 kids came and started playing cricket RIGHT beneath my kite as i was flying.Explained to the woman the dangers and she exclaimed that if it was so dangerous, why was i flying so near children??.....I WASNT TILL YOU CAME ALONG YOU SILLY BINT! Livid i was.

I'm free!

Have just handed my dissertation in, 50 pages of genius. And am now completely knackered. And I also need to start on next piece of work, due in in one week. :(

What's the date of the picnic, Tom? I can't wait!

Laz - I've decided to wait for Simon and all of his magical kites before looking into getting a blade.
