Looking to getting into Kitesurfing and looking around at what kit I'll need, wondered if I could get some advice. I've previously flown land kites, bullets, blades etc some years ago, and got lessons to start that so will be getting lessons for this too but would like advice on what kit would be good to look at at this stage. I've gathered so far that kit after 06 seems to be safer? (is this to do with the 5th line thing?) I've seem some good deals on ex demo gear 08/09 stuff and obviously will take advice from the shop but what size would be good to look around at if I was just buying one kite in the start. If necessary I'd buy new but would rather save a few quid as I've already got other expensive hobbies!! Same again for a board, I imagine newer stuff isnt as important here? But what sizes/types would be good for 6ft, slim build, 11stone guy. Done a bit of windsurfing and lots of snowboarding so whether or not the skills are useful I'm hoping I'll take to it ok. that be Bodington Hall. I've kited on there before but rugby post tend to get in way a bit. Siz/Tom - can't u hire the uni minibus and ferry people over there? or make a trip of it and head over to redcar!! think roundhay is easily the best and closest place around, hence it's popularity.

there's a long stretch of quiet road on the opposite side to the main road past roundhay. just fly usually rowards the skateboard park end of the park. just look out for 3.5m bullet red. should be there from 2 onwards.

Anyone use Firefox? Just found a nice plug in called ForecastFox. It sits at the bottom of the status bar and constantly gives you windspeed, direction and temp and outlook. Plus you can set it to rotate on different locations. It's class.

Yeah, going to shoot up tomorrow around 11 ish hopefully. Got a few mates in tow too.

I fancied tomorrow but it's forecasting 35mph gusting 60 for Redcar tomorrow. Roundhay's looking at 25 gusting 40. Think I'll be up Roundhay.
