  2. Hi, I'm moving to Pau in France for a year in September and just wondered if anyone knew of any established kitey beaches down that way...near Biarritz and Bayonne. I know most of the beaches down there are probably good for kiting but if anyone's been somewhere where there's a good kiting community then let me know. Siz
  3. oops that was actually me, tom was logged in on my computer!
  4. Hey ho, Does anyone have any suggestions on other places we can go with the uni kite soc? I think the reason not many people are coming out is that it's a mission to get to roundhay by bus. Anyone know of anywhere easlily reached from headingley (preferably without dogs or children)? Siz
  5. Thanks guys for doing the questionnaire! The reason i'm doing it is to see how men react to the article, so i'm not looking for any particular answers. It's written in a very masculine way and I wanted to see what men's responses were to that. I am totally aware that not everyone is going to be attracted to the army by this (including myself)! The assignment's due in next monday, so if anyone else wants to do the questionnaire, it'll be here til then. Thanks again, Siz

  7. So not coming to Estonia to celebrate 1st anniversary? Dunno bout Lipno as it always seems to happen mid-semester when i can't get out of all the work i have to do! I suppose that if you don't let on you're female, you can do the questionnaire:D
  8. Hi, I'm a Linguistics student in Leeds and I'm doing an assignment on language and masculinity. I was wondering if any men who read the magazine FHM might be willing to help me with my research by doing a questionnaire based on an article from the magazine. Just click on the attachment, read the article, then answer the questions below it. Then attach it to a post on this thread, like i did with the article (if that makes sense!) Cheers Siz:) Excerpts from article for questionnaire.doc
  9. Is her name Becky? If so, she was there on saturday with us. We had a good time. Hope she had fun and wants to come along next time!
  10. yeah, he was missing me...
  11. Hi Tom, i am one of the people setting up the kite society at leeds uni. We havent really got anything going yet but we are getting organised and starting properly in september and will be around at the societies fair (not the sports clubs bit) in freshers week. Roundhay park is good for flying and easy to get to without a car as buses from the city centre stop right by the park. It is also fairly easy to cycle there from headingley and as lazarus said, people with cars often drive up too. Hope to see you in freshers week! Siz
  12. Hey, the picnic is on the 30th of april..although we really need to get advertising! tell all your friends...
  13. Oi, cereal joke isnt funny...it got worn out when i was about 5... Yeah, i'll come to the packhorse tonight hopefully.
  14. Yeah, the winds were pretty crazy yesterday...the friends i bought along to have a go ended up a bit wet and muddy! they really enjoyed it though.
  15. Hehe, yep im a hardened drinker...will be willing to do some hard drinking on next trip!
  16. And the photos from that last trip look amazing!
  17. Simon - I have to wait and see when my exam is, and if its on the 17th, 18th or 19th, theres unfortunately nothing i can do to change it, but if its in the first half of the week, i might be able to be back in wales on thursday the 17th ready to go on the friday! I'd have to be back by the tuesday though for mum's birthday:) .
  18. Well, we've now given in our application for the Leeds uni kite society. Just have to wait til tuesday now to see if its gone through. bit annoyed with some of the union people though..apparently kiting isnt a sport (cos it isnt competitive), just a 'passtime' (a bit like knitting). Don't think they really understood quite what we were talking about. Little paper and string kites in the park or something. Ah well, we can wait and see. Sorry, had to have a rant...
  19. I'm up for the drink thing. tuesdays arent good for me though as i work til quite late...thursdays, fridays or weekends good for anyone?
  20. Wicked, well we've nearly got all the signatures for the luu kite society/club now and have decided on a commitee - Tom is president, alison is secretary and I am treasurer (haha - me, in charge of money?!). I will let you know next time we meet up to talk about it and maybe you guys (maria, kit, paul?) can come along to give us some ideas, and become part of the commitee if you like. Hope to see everyone soon. Siz x
  21. Or theres no wind at all...
  22. Ok, message to all kiters at leeds uni - we're going to try and set up an luu kite society. Not quite sure how it will work out, but its worth a try. It will have to be carefully thought out - we will obviously need to get people kiting safely. If anyones interested in getting involved let us know - the more people we get who already know about kiting the better. We're having a meeting tonight, then if anyone else is interested we can have another one soon. Siz
  23. Hey, i do have t-shirts and when this nasty linguistics exam is over tomorrow i can go kiting again and distribute them! Only have 4 though and in slightly odd sizes... I am unfortunately limited to bus for getting places too, which is a mission and a half from where i live to roundhay park. Is anyone planning anything radical for this weekend? Siz
  24. What was redcar like today? It got quite rainy in the park so didnt stay for long.
  25. hey to everyone who was in roundhay park on saturday. I've finally managed to work this forum thing out..its the place to be apparently. Is anyone up for kiting locally tomorrow? Dont think i can really make a day of it as i have too much work on... Siriol
