daddylonglegs Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 Just bought a new Bullet 3.5. No wind to talk about today in the area, anyone got any ideas?? Hope for wind tomorrow, anyone in the area going out as well?? If so where is best around here, tried Coombe Abbey, tried Burton Dassett. Quote
Sparhawk Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 Hearsall Common is probably your best bet matey! Personally - I shall be at my local spot from about 9:30 ish for a couple of hours before the 22 terrorists kick off. Heckley Fields in Exhall. Cmon Over Just a few footy pitches in size - but wind is forecast well for my 7m tommorrow Quote
daddylonglegs Posted November 15, 2003 Author Report Posted November 15, 2003 Cool, but where is Heckley Fields?? If I get up early enough will come along. Last nights curry calling me at the moment, may need beer to keep taste acceptable. Quote
Sparhawk Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 Click HERE for a multimap link - Just turn left just after the Petrol station coming to Bedworth from Coventry. (If that makes sense) Its only a likkle place - but I like it Quote
daddylonglegs Posted November 15, 2003 Author Report Posted November 15, 2003 Will try to get there. Quote
Sparhawk Posted November 16, 2003 Report Posted November 16, 2003 Hope you see this in time mate - NO wind here at all - Im off somewhere in search of some. Dunno where yet tho. Catch you another time. Quote
daddylonglegs Posted November 16, 2003 Author Report Posted November 16, 2003 Guessed at no wind as abolutely still at home, thanks for the tip though. Went to Burton Dassett instead, in the hope of something. Flew fantastically, best money spent this year on toys. Couldn't believe the power it generates and am now suffering from very tired arms. Will keep an eye out on weather for next week. Quote
Sparhawk Posted November 16, 2003 Report Posted November 16, 2003 Where abouts are you mate? Theres a whole bunch of flyers up near Sutton Coldfield who use a variety of sites around that area. I had a top day buggying up there with them Im sure they would mind ANOTHER Cov flyer joining in Having said that - Its about time burgy, Flying Funkster, uggit mick, me and all the other Cov flyers got together for a blast on Hearsall Common. Anyone up for it? Quote
daddylonglegs Posted November 16, 2003 Author Report Posted November 16, 2003 Live in Binley. Wouldn't mind Sutton Coldfield. Let me know about getting together at Hearsall Common. May need a week to get the arms working again though. Quote

Sparhawk Posted November 16, 2003 Report Posted November 16, 2003 Originally posted by Grimmie And me! Sowe Common's another venue, personally I think there is less dog **** there! Let us know. Grimmie But some whopping BIG power lines!!! Am I thinking of the right one? Not keen on that place at all! Quote
Grimmie Posted November 16, 2003 Report Posted November 16, 2003 The top field is a bit hazardrous - good point. The bottom field is OK if you keep clear of the horse?? Daddy - I'm around Binley way. Memorial, Hearsall, Sowe Common seem to be the common ground if any. Caludon fields/castle could be OK for a quick blast? I've done Burton, how did you get on with the mountains and sheep? Last time I was there, I was the only one with a kite, the rest just dirtboards and landboards!!! Grimmie Quote
daddylonglegs Posted November 17, 2003 Author Report Posted November 17, 2003 Mountains OK, sheep were down the bottom of the hill grazing, I think they went down there to get away from all the sheep pooh they left at the top. Only me with the now used 3.5 there, and some other guys with a 4.5 ( Pleased I bought the 3.5 as it was flying way better that the 4.5. ( Hope it was the superior flying skills though?? ) Found a relatively flat piece of land by the round building and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Lots of people walking about though. Quote
mick Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 Greg, You'de have to be a complete dick to get the power lines. They would only affect the spot in a northerly but if it keeps it quiet thats ok by me. You could be right. I know the unexpected can happen so EXPECT IT. Had a good weekend up at Ainsdale and Blackpool. WANKA meet most weekend afternoons. Oh and Fridays. Quote
burgy Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 alright hopefully I'm gonna have some new toys this weekend so you can bet its gonna be naff for flying I'm gonna be out but I'm checking the field in hinckley at some time over the weekend, prolly saturday. If your out & about Sunday I'll see if I can convince SHMBO its a good idea. ring me during the day on friday & let us know whats happening, I cant get on line easy in the shop just yet so I dont check the boards all that much. Oh & cheers for comming to the opening LMAO, it was good though. burgy 01455 230736 Quote
Sparhawk Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 Sorry Steve - Just couldnt get there...... SWMBO will have to be a bit more understanding this weekend mate - Brancaster Sunday? Had noticed your lack of presence from the boards - "The Turpins" ruling you with a rod eh mate? Working for a living is a right bitch eh? ;) Quote

mick Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 There are one or two of us that kite at Sowe Common thro the winter, Kitesurf thro the Summer. Majorly Hearsall Common has a large group of kiters most weekends and might be worth a look at. Nearer to you is Wykin fields where there are also a few lads most weekends. Quote
