schultzie Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 After a bit of a lapse of care i guess i have decided to ask the question what exactly do we want to have in the way of safety gear? the obvious ones are 1. Helmet 2. knee pads (brand type?) I dont know the brand of mine but they have a joint in them and do not slide at all and you dont notice them while riding 3. elbow pads . Ok now after a few hard landings i was thinking of some sort of butt protection and wrist guards, Wrist guards.. lack of hand movement would make it hard to fly the kite... but i have had limited success with taking out the lower guard and thus getting a heap more hand movement but they are still cumbersome what is available in the way of shoulder protection... i know im not keen on landing inverted with out it ... so just a running idea ... what are your thoughts.. im only putting this together so that perhaps people can maby better protect them self to avoid injury.. nigel Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 Boots that cover the ankle. Most people can easily do an ankle, if they land a bit off balance (static mainly). A boot tends to stop the ankle twisting to far and limits the damage. I wear them in the buggy incase my foot gets stuck in the foot loop should I have an OBE. Bum protection?? I wear a seat harness, so it's padded if I come out. Quote
schultzie Posted March 12, 2007 Author Report Posted March 12, 2007 on a mountainboard i still think that the boots would be a hinderer in the equation because you still need to have a a heap of movement in you ankle to achieve a good stance yeah bum protection because i for one do not always land jumps as planned as much of you know and my harness doesnt offer much in the way of protection and none when i wear my waist harness so something to take the shouck out would be Nice, i know there is some stuff on the GI web site but just wondering what else is out there... but i know that the guys over seas like the hill billy stuff this is down hill of course as as for kiteing i dont know...
