Butterfly Bee Posted December 9, 2016 Report Posted December 9, 2016 Hi Stunt Kiters I have broken so many P200 lower spreaders on my E3 to the point where I want to get rid of it....and its always the same thing.....the tubing cracks at the centre T on the female spar. Prism acknowledges this fact. Does anyone know, or developed a solution to this frustrating problem ? Your help would be most appreciated Grazie Mille Quote
nigel Posted December 9, 2016 Report Posted December 9, 2016 Try wrapping some electrical tape around the first two inches (5cm) of the spar. I have done this on my team Platinum, under suggestion of the designer, and never cracked the spar. Hope that helps. Chook 1 Quote

Coogee Posted December 9, 2016 Report Posted December 9, 2016 Does the LS push onto a ferrule or slot into a fitting? If it pushes on to a ferrule check the ferrule for a hard corner at it's end. Sand it to a round. You can wrap the end of the LS in cotton, plenty of wraps, and soak it in super glue. Give the LS a light sand first at that spot. If it pushes into a fitting stuff the LS tube with another smaller piece of rod. Again make sure that internal piece has no sharp corners on its ends. Glue it in. Mike nigel 1 Quote

I noticed the rod ends were not quite square (had a slight angle where they had been chopped, so I trued them up. I opened up the through hole in the T a tiny bit and radiused off all the sharp corners. Polished them with wet and dry sandpaper and did the electrical tape trick. The wrapped cotton sounds an even better idea. Quote
KaoS Posted December 11, 2016 Report Posted December 11, 2016 Two very important things here, and they both concern the ferrule. 1. As the other guys have mentioned, the protruding end of the ferrule needs to be chamfered (radiused, smoothed off, whatever). If you haven't got sandpaper, use an old style pencil sharpener - works a treat. 2. how long is the ferrule? When it is pushed through the centre T-piece, how much ferrule protrudes for the female rod to fit onto? It should be 4 cm. If it is too short it puts too much pressure near the end of the female rod which will eventually break. P200 rods are robust - they shouldn't be breaking under normal use. If you happen to have a male rod where the ferrule has been glued in too far, the problem will continue to occur. Exactly how long are the lower spreaders? - I probably have some used ones I can send you Hope this helps Kevin Willunga, S.A. Chook 1 Quote
Garry Ellis Posted January 18, 2020 Report Posted January 18, 2020 Can anyone tell me where I might buy spare parts for the E3. I just ordered one from Kitepower yesterday but they have nothing listed in the way of spares for the E3. Quote
Coogee Posted January 21, 2020 Report Posted January 21, 2020 Is its a Sky Shark frame? If so it will be easy to get spares. Kevin at Kaos Kites can help u out Mike Quote
