Gav
Does anyone wear kite pants? Can they be bought in Melb anywhere? I thought they could be handy at keeping my skin attached to my legs.
schmik
At the moment i use $15 army pants from disposal stores... I had ruined too many good clothes by the stylish art of 'butt skudding'. When i can find (and afford) some i will get some ATB / BMX race pants. These are padded in all the right places and virtualy impossible to rip. They are probably overkill for static flying but should be great for Kite ATB and good ol 'butt scudding'!! Have you seen any proper 'kite pants' ? schmik
Gav
Yeah you're probably right. Think I'll just wear out a couple of cheap ones rather than a good pair. The ones that I saw are at http://www.onboardstore.com/, but they're in europe around 80 euro. $15 sounds much better. Gav
iancl
If you want loads of protection then Moto-X Pants are almost indestructable. Bit expensive but if you might fall hard on gravel, rocks etc they might be worth it. I'm thinking of getting some (kids size which means a bit cheaper) for mountainboarding downhill. Some are more padded and some are just tough. Ian

SoutherlyBuster
$160 for a set of kevlar padded pants, a bit pricy. I just use tough jeans some thing like hard yaka (tough and thick), can't quite remember the brand. But I also wear crash pants underneath. Some loose threads and holes starting to appear on my kiting pants, will sew a leather patch on, still reckon that will be cheaper the $160. I wonder what material Bear Gryll's black pants patches are made of?

Goz
Just goes to prove a good pair of kiting pants will never die
SoutherlyBuster
Here we go, the black patches are more elastic than the rest of the pants, just did a google search, they are Craghoppers -- Bear Survivor Trousers. Some how it think a kiting version is needed. Never tore a seam for lack of being stretchy enough, well that's for the pants at least. My wish list would be some inbuilt straps to stop the knee pads from sliding down over time. And material that does not get angry with the rip and tear. As for shirts, I reckon super tough and stretchy -- tore seams of my shirt a few times and mended it with triple stitches, mind you the shirt is about 15 years old, not bad going for a home made shirt. Also I reckon the pockets are usually too low, always squash what ever is in the pockets with the bar/lines. Oops a slight thread digression. Nocando
Before I went to NABX i decided to try motorcycle kevlar jacket and pants, comfortable and good in the heat of the desert, breathe well. Didnt test them out no OBEs
Gav
Yeah, for general cruisin, then kevlar's a bit overkill, but if i were doing speed runs they'd be perfect.

mojo
Yeah, for general cruisin, then kevlar's a bit overkill, but if i were doing speed runs they'd be perfect. No graze scars there Gave? The knitted Kevlar fabric that is sewn into Draggin jeans (motorcycle gear) is probably the best, light, do the job, and not bulky, sew it in to and old pair of favorites no probs. I searched n searched for this cloth and could never find it and recycled it whenever I found it. I agree tho on some other comments, that if you're looking for lightweight breathable clothing, that MotoX gear is most likely the way to go. SoutherlyBuster
What about just plain leather. There is a upholsterer down the road from us and I just walked in and asked if I could buy some scraps from him, no worries he said.
Nocando
Bought a set of draggin jeans and jacket, is just great. Were just fine in the desert at NABX, breathe well, light , While there temps got into the100s they were good. And now winter here are quite warm, as I wear jeans and jacket every time I go kiting now.
