surfdoode2 Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 Hey, My girlfriend (9.5 stone and 5'8) has just got into kiting and has been using my 10m fone bandit 5 and 130 Nobile 555. Can stand up in both directions but struggling a bit up wind and ends up getting lofted (off the board) quite a lot! She learnt on a 15m and said she found it easier with everything happening slower. What kite would you recommend? She said she's interested in the Cabrinas although never tried one. I'm thinking she should stick to a 10m, possibly 12? Any ideas/advice or offers? Cheers, Mark ps. also looking for a board around 135. Quote
Maro Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 I'm about the same height and weight and 9m bandit 5 is my most used kite, maybe get her an 8m and use it youself when it's proper windy. 135 board or maybe a 132x40 (that's what I use) Quote
waterbaby Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 Fuck that women should be at home there hav to much to there can't be up the beach and Wat if she gets better than u???? Quote
kevob Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 post pics in her bikini so we can get a better idea of what she needs Quote
balugh Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 I'm about the same height and weight and 9m bandit 5 is my most used kite, maybe get her an 8m and use it youself when it's proper windy. 135 board or maybe a 132x40 (that's what I use) If she's used to the Bandit stay with that and get a smaller size as suggested. If she wants something for herself (i.e. not sharing your kites) then try as many as she can...as she might end up back at the F1's. The Cabrinha's will be good, so will the Norths, Naish Park or Ride. I've seen a few Naish Ride's recently and they look a good kite (10m would probably get a lot of use). Ozone Catalyst is another or the C4 if feeling a bit more adventurous. RRD Obsessions are good. A 9m Epic Renegade would get a lot of use. She's really spoiled for choice with only the size of her wallet and preferences to delineate. Board wise make sure it's got a nice clean rail and a fair amount of flex because she ain't heavy. A Shinn Monk would be worth trying...maybe a Spleene Session. The 'fashion' seems to be shorter and stubbier these days. It's best to try a few in local conditions so she can choose what feels right for her. Quote
shemKSW Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 LOL Kevbob Id suggest any kite that will make a helpful addition to your quiver Quote
Andy-j Posted September 18, 2012 Report Posted September 18, 2012 surely at that wetght a 10 is the biggest she'll ever need!? that and 6/7 for high winds. I think we need bikini pics to clarify.. Quote
ice1599968754 Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 Stick with the b5 she will be hard pushed to find better! Should have hot an 11m abd 9m. Those to will do both of you for pretty much all uk conditions you will actually want to ride in. The 11m is an amazing kite! Best size in any manufacturers range if you ask me! Quote
SonnyRider Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 My GF is a little shorter and similar weight and mainly fly's an 8m havoc, or a 10m Reo as her mainstream kites. She also uses my 14m cat or the 12m Reo in lighter winds She now rides a Monk 130x40 after changing from a Shinn Gintronic of same size. The Gintronic is for sale if you're interested Quote
