Hedge Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 Hey, I,m looking to pick up a buggy as I live about as far from a beach as you probably can in the UK. So as I'm a pretty big bloke I really need to know what I should be looking for. At 6'3" and about 19 stone I carpentry much destroy anything I try to throw about. Any advice would be greatly received Hadge Quote
mick Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 Hi Hadge, firstly, where abouts are you? Look in the meets section and see if theres a local group to meet up with. This may give you the chance to try a few buggys. Starting at the smallest acceptable buggy you'de have a flexifoil stainless with maybe an extended down tube to give it more length. This would be plenty good enough possibly forever. Libre make a range of bigger buggys with the Special and V- Max being the most common. Then theres buggys like the RS. These are not available new anymore but worth picking up 2nd hand. Finally come the bigger machines primarily designed for racing or cruising and generally very big and heavy. Personally I'd say, if you intend to blast round the local fields etc mainly, do not get the bigger buggys. While they can be used, largely, they are no fun. Most produced buggys are rugged machines that you won't destroy until you get airbourne. Avoid any buggy that may be called Rad sail. Don't ask why, just trust me. Quote

Drizzly Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 Have a look at flexifoil, rs or Libre, I would avoid Peter Lynn as they don't seem to be the strongest. I cracked the welds at 11 stone. Quote
mick Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 I avoided saying PL but I have one. Ive had it for about 7 yrs and treat is so badly. I wouldnt swap it for anything. Most welds have failed and been redone. Quote
RuudjeH5 Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 dont forget to take a look at the XXtreme Basixx ;-) Cheers Ruudje Quote
DOWNHILL44 Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 Like yourself I am a big guy 19.5 stone was 23.5 when I started buggying ! And I have tried most buggys vmax was my first comfy buggy , but then progressed to a pogona which I loved fast stable and what I think would be the cheapest option for you, as they come up quite often in all different shapes and sizes. Have you buggyed before ? If so where will you be using the buggy ? And what would you like to progress to ? Just to say I now use a Tornado T3 for racing and a Parastorm typhoon for fun. Cheers Dai Quote

jrd Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 £150 buy it now for a part stainless libre with strengthened rails, 1600 back axle with camber adjustment and adjustable extenders. Unless there is something terribly wrong with it Quote
Jim O'Hara Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 Says it's finished becuase the item is no longer available. Wonder if someone did the buy it now? The description was crap and it was in a funny category, and listed as a kite buggy instead of kitebuggy, so people could easily miss it. That one had some potential, but the front half was powder coated and the back was stainless, making it look a bit funny. Combined with all of this stuff http://forum.kitecrowd.com/sale/midi-tires-wheels-forks-swan-neck-pimp-your-buggy-203570.html it would look great. Quote
