The HD HERO camera supports SD/SDHC cards up to 32GB (any SD card over 2GB is considered a SDHC card). We recommend name brand SDHC cards with a class 4 rating or higher. The two cards that we mostly use in house, which work well are the Kingston and Patriot brand class 4 cards. We mostly use the 16GB class 4 card, as it gives you the most ‘bang for your buck’.

Copied the bit above from the support section of gopro's website, so going along those lines looks like the one you picked out should be ok!

Adobe Premiere would be the alternative for the Mac... not cheap though, but neither is Sony Vegas

Don't know of any that will do it automatically, but I have used this tutorial with reasonable results...

Memory cards are classed via speed. The sped is how much data you can write to the card. All devices can buffer some of the data but once that internal memory is full you will get problems.

On a fixed image camera you won't be able to take another photo until all the data is written on the card. On a video camera one if two things will happen. On cheaper models the camera is likely to crash as it struggles with it's internal writing memory at full capacity. It will freeze or just miss out chunks of video.

From what I know the GoPro is slightly more sophisticated and will automatically reduce the quality of the image it is recording to compensate for the slow card. You will end up using HD gear but will not get HD quality from it.

The only problem with the cheaper, unbranded cards is that often do not have their class rating written on them. The GoPro requires at least class 4 so the be sure you get consistent good quality double that.

I've used Play branded cards before and had no issues. Just always check their class rating, usually a C symbol with a number in it.

The long and the short is you've spent a good bit of money on a decent camera so spend a bit (not lots) on a decent card to go with it. Otherwise it will be like driving a Ferrari with budget tyres.

Ok I've just got the surf edition, I know that there are lots of attachments but which would you recomend for a good surf video? I can stick this to my board but it would justb be a video of me. would a wrist or helmet attachement capture more interesting footage?
