jhn.holgate Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) 6.5m Method in excellent condition but no lines or handles. $440. Really nice kite, this. Good from about 7 knots up to 14 knots in the buggy. Very well behaved and stable. 5m Method also in excellent condition but no lines or handles. $370. Set my pb of 71.3kph with this in about 20 knots. Needs about 10-12 knots to get going and gets interesting around 20 knots. 4m Method also in excellent condition but no lines or handles. $320. Great from about 13 knots or so up to 25ish. Methods are very well behaved kites which need a few more knots of wind than an equivalent Reactor or similar. ie: I've flown alongside Mik333 with his 2.8m Century II and me on the 4m Method. Under 15 knots, he can pull away from me. 16 knots and we're even. 20 knots and I'm pulling away from him because the Methods sit well forward in the window with very little sidepull. Package deal: take 'em all and I'll throw in a Ozone Turbo bar and lines. - All Sold. Prices don't include postage. Edited July 25, 2015 by jhn.holgate Quote
jhn.holgate Posted April 19, 2015 Author Report Posted April 19, 2015 Bump - take $20 off the price of each kite. Or take all 3 for $1000 with a turbo bar included. Quote
hidetora Posted April 30, 2015 Report Posted April 30, 2015 hello John have you got any idea about the cost of shipping one of the kites to spain ? ( I have already 5 and 6.5 methods) thanks Quote
jhn.holgate Posted May 1, 2015 Author Report Posted May 1, 2015 If it's under 1kg (would assume it would be - haven't actually weighed them) it would be $46 - that's according to the Aus Post website. If that sort of cost is ok with you, then I'll take it to the post office and get a proper quote for you. Quote
windance Posted June 13, 2015 Report Posted June 13, 2015 Wow that's a fantastic deal and the kites look in great condition Quote
jhn.holgate Posted June 14, 2015 Author Report Posted June 14, 2015 Thanks windance, I do try to take good care of all my gear. Quote
windance Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 Hey John see that you are very much a Nasa star convert and I have been watching your comments and video entries about them in recent months, just wondering that your decision to sell your Methods is a reflection of that? The Nasa star does seem an incredibly stable and predictable kite to fly.Have you found the holy grale of kites that we all search for on our pilgrimage as kite flyers?I know that you have been through a lot of kit so to speak over the years (Seen your videos ect).Hope you don't mind me asking but been a follower of yours over the years simply because your style and wisdom in kiting appeals to me. Quote
jhn.holgate Posted June 16, 2015 Author Report Posted June 16, 2015 Many thanks, Windance! I like the Nasa's as they don't accelerate suddenly or fold up in a lull like most of my foils do. I feel a lot safer flying them. But there's no question they're a fair bit slower and it's harder work to get up wind. A trade off that I'm comfortable with but many would not be. The Nasa's are very unlikely to lift me out of the buggy too if I get it wrong. They are not the holy grail of kites - not yet. If I could get the speed and upwind ability of the Methods combined with the stability and friendliness of the Nasa's, THEN I'd be getting pretty close to my holy grail of kites. I'm hoping the soon to be released Long Stars may be that kite. Meanwhile, I'm just not flying the Methods, or the Access for that matter - I think the last time I flew the Access was Nov 2013 and Jan 2013 for the methods. Quote
windance Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 Yes looking forward to the release of the Long Star too looks very interesting.Do have have any idea when it's on the market? Be nice to get a review on it and actually see it fly.Be nice to see you review it like you have the Nasa Stars.I do like the close up shots you have done when you go over the kite with the camera, gets us close up to see the cloth and quality of build. The thing I like about your vids is that you actually get us into the action and it's nice to see everything going on not just some guy in a Buggy and the camera pointed just to the front of the buggy. Its nice to see the actual flying site, kites and other kiters too. jhn.holgate Posted June 16, 2015 Author Report Posted June 16, 2015 I'm chomping at the bit to get hold of the Long Stars! I'm expecting to hear some more info towards the end of the week. As far as I know, they should be in production around the end of the month. I expect plenty of vids of the new Nasa's. Thanks for the kind words too. Quote
igeighty Posted July 25, 2015 Report Posted July 25, 2015 Thank you John, A pleasure as always Doug Quote
