Travelled from Brisbane to Sydney for Christmas/New Year, now family stuff out of the way, kites & buggy are the main concern.

Called into see two of the Canberra guys, showed them a few single liners & the 8.5 Libre Bora, 4.4 Libre Vampir. Gee, these guys fly, in the lumpy winds.

It was great to meet other buggiers.

Down to Merimbula NSW. 28-35 knots no thanks too old for this stuff. After going close to the bushfires, we arrived at Lakes Entrance Vic, more very high winds along the beach.

Next spot is somewhere along the road to the ferry across Port Phillip Bay.

I am restricted with contact, as some sites & motels no internet. Need wireless.

G'day Alan

Glad to catch up with you and your wife at Gordon Playing Fields when you were in Canberra a few days ago.

Sorry the winds were a bit lumpy but that's what you get inland unfortunately. It was great to see your selection of one-line kites and to fly your 8.5m kite...in virtually no winds it certainly has lift

Sorry I couldn't hang around that evening but I had other commitments. :(

Have a great time in Tas and at Kingston SA....show those Vic and SA kiters how to fly :)

Cheers

Paul

Hi Alan,

Thanks for dropping by the shop on your way through. If you did make it down to Ocean Grove / Barwon Heads I found out that Andrew Mac is in town, so you may be able to catch up with him on the beach for a buggy. I'll txt you his number.

Goshen.

Alan,

Sorry to miss you ot Ocean Grove - hard to catch me on the phone when there's a southerly wind and low tide happening. Got a buggy AND a kitesurf in today and went up and introduced myself to some Austrian guy with a Blade III thinking it might have been you.... See you in Kingston!

:D

Hey Joel - can we update our smileys? It's too warm for Santa hats now.....

Well the site Goshen told me about was great at thirteenth beach section 40. Wind was about 22+ knots so I used the 2.5 JOJO a lot of fun and a nice run.

Sorry to have missed Andy Mac but we will catch up.

Left Geelong and headed along the Great Ocean Road it has changed since my last visit 33 years ago!! Tar all the way. Stopped at Portland, a great little town lots to do and a few good buggy spots- I went to Bridgewater -now I have white sticky sand in the car. I put up a heap of single liners to keep wife busy & went buggying - a bit. the wind was pretty lumpy 10-20kts but never-the-less a good day with 3 hang-gliders dropping over the top of me. They told me it is sometimes much better than this. At 6pm the wind dropped right off.

Next day wind was all over the place so we rode the local Tram!!

Today Mon, we drove to Robe, I have never seen so many 4WD they are everywhere, all over the beaches, they tell me I can take the car on the beach. The bloody Fairlane is not going on the beach!!!!

to be continued...........

Mentally prepare - that Fairlane may have to visit the beach to join in, and hey, it's probably no worse than the claypans. Just don't copy Crowie's effort last year towing a guy on a kiteboard through the surf..... (Might promote the rust just a bit).

63kmh across the wind at Ocean Grove today with the 3.5m Razor, and 57.5kmh day before yesterday with the 5m Yakuza after some minor tuning. All with the narrow axle... Woo Hoo! Can't wait for the open spaces at Kingston next week!!

I'm really just posting to check out my new avatar and signature.

But I'm also getting excited about the Kingston Long Weekend.

And avoiding the work I should be doing.

Don't forget to Email info@kitefactory.com.au with your Tshirt size if you are coming (Andy I have let Annie know yours and Craig's).

Back to work

Mick, just emailed Annie and let her know we won't be coming :(

Kombi is out of action and my back-up driver (Craig) pulled the pin. Will be having a quiet buggy on my own in Ocean Grove for the long weekend I'd say.... Hope the weather is perfect for you. Dissappointed not to be coming (Especially with a few new people to race) so have fun for me too...

We have finally got slow but atleast internet. On the way home arr.at Banranald this pm. So .......

Firstly I would like to Thank Phil & Anne-Marie for a fabulous time. Those of you who missed out really missed 25-35kts wind, WOW on the Lake & superb runs along the beach 14.6 k's esp. the tow back, facing 30kts wind travelling at 50ks with sand and for some - water spray. The temp was about 16deg C

The Fairlane really did go along the beach, great place for wife to sit and watch, kept telling me 'not to do that', 'oh, act your age', well I did - gee older age is wonderful!!!

Thank you to all the team & Adelaide Kite Club, you are a great bunch, we will never forget your hospitality. To all who helped Steve at various times, thank you. He will be better next year.

By the way I have booked the Cabin for next year, the Caravan Park is just great. So start planning now as I am sure more people will want to come then.

photos to come

Sounds like Kingston was a blast. A number of us are already planning for next year as for one reason or another we unfortunately missed this years event. So hopefully a few more faces next year again.

Joel

Its good to hear that everyone had a great time at Kingston. I know I enjoyed the kite flying and the atmosphere all round.

Thanks to the interstaters who travelled far and wide to make the event great. Alan, don't forget to send me the photos when you get a chance.

Of course the weather was in our favour - 72+ straight hours of 22-25 knot SSW, with no rain during the premium flying times. We've never been totally disappointed by the wind at Kingston, but that was one of the better long weekends in the 6 years we've been going.

Book early for next year.
