plummet Posted November 12, 2012 Report Posted November 12, 2012 yeha. get that speed out in 18 knots! air time will be compulsery then. my call is bar in to jump then let it out about halfway and set a slow lazy redirect. that usually gives me the nicest landing. Quote
bob2 Posted November 12, 2012 Author Report Posted November 12, 2012 thanks Plummet After a few days, I started to let the bar out to improve the glide. I'm yet to get the re-direct entirely correct yet. But time and practice will make it work. As for 18 knots. I've only got 67 pies on me so it will be a little hard to keep the kite and me some where need the ground or safely within the small oval that I have to ride. Mind you, one day it was gusting up close to 16kt and I was well scared and packed up before something bad happened. Bob Quote
plummet Posted November 12, 2012 Report Posted November 12, 2012 yes you need alot of room when the winds up. you glide for ages. i've had mine up in 22-23 knots at 82 pies it was pretty darn silly. But fun! Quote
m.klinge Posted November 12, 2012 Report Posted November 12, 2012 Simply loving your videos Bob! You show massive style - i love the skate tricks Keep it up and do please keep filming //M Quote
bakersdozen Posted November 12, 2012 Report Posted November 12, 2012 Mad skills Bob! Keep em coming Quote
bob2 Posted November 13, 2012 Author Report Posted November 13, 2012 thanks for the comments. I just hope the winds blow cleanly this summer so I invent and learn more tricks. Bob Plummet, you are a crazy man. Even with the exta pies, that is mad. Quote
Alfa75 Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 Cool video Bob, you should come up to the Rockingham salt lake some day, id be keen to learn some moves from you.. also plenty room for big air jumps.. Quote
airjunkie Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 loving the trick where you pivot the board round your right foot sweet skill---- keep upping the vids Quote
sherwinelioreg21 Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 brilliant! you got some nice tricks.. Quote
bob2 Posted November 14, 2012 Author Report Posted November 14, 2012 thanks guys Alfa75 I would love to get to Rockinham lakes one day. It's just everytime I head to Perth, it's either for work or with the family and either case doesn't lend itself to a relaxed kite around. When I get a chance I would love to catch up. Airjunkie I can't claim credit for the board wrap around the back foot trick. It's a variation between Tony Hawks can opener trick (he used to do it in the 80's in bowls and Rodney Mullen's ollie impossible. I'm hoping to do more combo's of this as the summer rolls on. Bob Mate I've spent the last decade in europe with (arguably )some of the best and most innovative land based kiting talent and its the first time i've seen it - maximum respect for being so progressive I'd love to head down that way and catch up for a fly sometime if thats cool - i've been going slowly mad landboarding on my own since i returned - having to kitesurf just to get some kiting company Quote
bob2 Posted November 15, 2012 Author Report Posted November 15, 2012 Hi Airjunkie Come on down. The oval is small, but the wind is clean and smooth when the sea breeze hits. PM me when you think you are heading this way. Bob p.s The oval works best on westerly, although a south west works almost as well so check the forcast. Quote

We kite there regularly every Sunday morning. Atm we are 4 buggys and me on the Landboard. Works with every wind directions, easterlies are best though. Quote
Pari Posted November 16, 2012 Report Posted November 16, 2012 Loved the video, really fun fun and inspiring to watch. Thanks Quote
Goz Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 Nice one Bob2, I'm sure once you get to know the Speed3 a bit better we will see some massive air and float in your videos. Remember they really build power with apparent wind more so than any other kite I have flown, it really comes in handy on those lighter wind days. Let it have build up some speed pull that bar in and see how you go. Quote
bob2 Posted November 19, 2012 Author Report Posted November 19, 2012 thanks Pari Nice one Bob2, I'm sure once you get to know the Speed3 a bit better we will see some massive air and float in your videos. Remember they really build power with apparent wind more so than any other kite I have flown, it really comes in handy on those lighter wind days. Let it have build up some speed pull that bar in and see how you go I hope I can get the most of this building the speed up thing. My oval is only about 120m wide with roads on one end and buildings on the other. There isn't much room to get a bit of a speed run going. But big airs are still my dream. I had it out in 18kt winds the other day and have learnt the benefits of letting the bar out after the initial take off and floating. Love that feeling. Bob Quote
Pari Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 I'm desiring that air also- a Speed 3 12m is now on my shopping list as my next purchase. Quote
