man u will have a blast...

alot of flag beach hatters on here, but i spose its all personal opinion...

unless ur confident dont go at low tide, there are some rocks but its nothing like people make it out to be like. i swear halve who moan about it on here have never been!! taxi will happily take u there from town with gear, go early morning for the best sessions ;) it does get busy, but its a kiting hotspot. im sure u knew that when u booked.

theres lots of chat about weather or not to go for beach rescue... depends on ur confidence level...

wind should be blowing crosshore from the left, so if u get stuck u can body drag back. again its all confidence level... i never went for it personally.

check out the kite surf bar in town centre, i cant remember for the life of me what its called..lol piss head...

dont be shy to try other areas of the island also... lots of good spots, i want to do alot more exploring next time im over there...

have fun!! thats what its all about...

Respect^....... Thanks for the positivity. I'm looking 4ward to going, but don't fancy the hassle of bringing all the kit for possibly just a couple sessions! Plus I'm only just getting up on the board and have only completed a few runs. I know it's a hot spot and if I don't bring the kit, il be gutted when I see everyone on the water. But at my stage, I think it will all be too much as I'm not so confident. So, I think i may just kick back and enjoy the scenery. Not sure, will see how I feel after a few more sessions first and see if my confidence builds. The only prob is the lack of wind were having, so not getting out as much as I'd like to.

if you are going to flag then you can hire the gear there but i would take your own harness . its only 10 mins from town and if you went a bit further down the road you will get a great beach that is a bit quieter (but no rescue boats).

as for kite pubs the main one is just off the main street in Corjelleo up in the bar area when you go up the stairs look over too the right about 2 oclockish and you will see the surf bar ( big TV with surf vids on all night so you should not miss it ) the is also a small coffee shop where guys meet in the morning before going out its just up from the bars on the side street . most mornings the wind can stay lame till about 10 am so plenty of time to get ride of the hangover

the bar i think you mean is Corky's but unfortunatly it has not been there for over a year now. that bar is now in one of the plazas and is called coirky's american dreams now. it is opposite the street fopr wikkiki. another kite bar is Kiwi, found on the bottom floor of the main comercial center just opposite the police station. the cost of rescue service is 30 euro for 1-15 days unlimited rescues (when paid in advance) if not it is 100 euro per rescue of kit, the guys will rescue you for free but not your kit unless you pay to be on their list.

just booked to go Jandia for 10 days, 22nd septmber, will have a car and do sotavento and flag. been once before as a relative beginner but in december there was hardly any wind. which is no suprise. ill have a little look for some of the other beaches too. allthough waves are not really my bag i prefer flat water.

will be a change and fairly cheap 10 days in the sun too

I'll be staying in Corralejo from 5th sept to 12th sept! Cant wait!

Going to take my 12m kite, if it fits, and harness, impact vest, rashie, helmet etc. so should only need to rent a board. Also going to do a surf course hopefully as its a bit cheaper!

I will be staying at calleta de fuste from the 2nd september to the 9th. cant wait either!

Taking all my clothes and stuff in the North bag with the kite and everything, just comes in under 15kg.

Boards going seperatly and payed for, 80 quid!! on ryanair but i suppose its better than 40 euro a day for hire when i would like to be out there everyday.

Im looking forward to the lengthy Coach journey to Flag in the morning, hoping to meet other kiters on the way :)

Oh and Noori, if i see you can i have a go on your 12m :D Im only taking a 10m as thats the only LEI i have :( and its got a slow puncture :(

Oh and Noori i just realised that your based in Poole, me and my kiting buddys always at baiter if you fancy a bit of Landboarding, hope to see you out there.

I hope to be at Flag on Friday alll day long :)

Its cool that you're taking your board! I'm going to just hire one...I hate Ryanair!! Bit strapped for cash at the moment, so going to mix kitesurfing and surfing which is a lot cheaper.

Yeah you can try out the 12, look out for the guy with the blue o-zone instinct light.

I was living in Poole, but now back to uni in Loughborough so ages from the coast!! Is baiter inside poole park, right by the quay? I saw a landboarder in there a while ago when I was walking through, looked good!!

flag beach ,i was there in July , i had 2 hour of kitting in a week ,there is a lot of people rant and rave about flag beach ,yes it is beautiful place ,but it needs to have some wind ,unfortunately i was the unlikely one out of the year ,sat on the beach most days waiting for the wind to kick in but ,never came ,i meet a nice guy out there called gunnar ,pointed me in the right direction and off i went ,had only 2 hours in the week ,the 2 hours i did have ,what should have been epic ,wasn't ,there was around 50 may be 60 kites out ,and not many new the rules on how to kite in traffic i spent more time avoiding Muppet's that just want to kite in a straight line ,i took 2 kite out with me 11m ,8m, and i was underpowered must of the time ,needed a 14m ,in the 2 hours i had , u need to look out for the rock formations on low tide ,i was that disported with the flag beach , what u need to do is hire a car for the week to go across to the other side of the island ,but what u must not do is leave any gear in the car at flag beach as it will get nicked ,if i had a week of wind i might have a different opinion about the place but as it stands would not go to flag beach again , i came home and booked a holiday for a week in famara in Lanzarote with the lads , on the 14th September, hope this helps others

Yeah Ryanaair suck. Yes Baiter is around that way, you probably saw Steve or Adam if the rider was doing some nice tricks, shame youve gone away again, weve got a nice lil crowd down here...Anyway i will be flying out today :)

08 ozone lights are horrible to fly. the 12s and 14s have good low end grunt though!

I think i know what you mean, i was on Adam Davidges Ozone instinct light 13m (i think) a few weeks back in fairly strong wind at Baiter, a lil overpowered for me but it was ok, it just seemed very slow and sluggish, had a lot of float though, redirecting wasa abit of a chore. But he makes that kite look good, maybe he just gets the best out of it.

TBH all forecasts are saying bad things for the week im out there :( well aslong as theres a bit of wind i will be happy.

The instinct light is a beginner / wave kite so I guess thats why. As my first kite, its been pretty good, I haven't tried many others but its been fine for me so far, and can get going from around 12 knots. I'm not ready to spend thousands on a kite quiver just yet!! I've taken the kite out in 30 knot gusts and it wasnt too bad with some depower, didnt really feel overpowered, just had to really lean back and go upwind when the gusts hit.

Been there so many times, my father lives out there so manage to get there 3 / 4 times a year, it was always flag beach for me until i found Sotavento, its about 45mins drive from the airport, maybe 1hr 30hr from the north of the island. If the lagoon is full its a beginer's paradise, thigh deep crystle clear warm water. Happy days. Check out the lagoon status on there website, Rene egle . com, something like that. Well worth a vist, the bars and shops around that area all cater for the smurfers too. Enjoy.. Just an after thought, i normally fly there with easy jet and they only charge £30 for a kite bag.

Also if you go to rene egle, they will not hire kit out unless you have an IKO 2 cert, heads up.

Nice one! Sounds like its worth a trip to Sotavento then!

Easy jet sounds good - is that £30 return for the bag??

You forgot to mention that the Lagoon only fills up enough to kite in on Spring tides, so maybe 8 days in a month.

Pretty sure it £30 each way, cheeper if booked online before you go, true about the lagoon, if you look on rene egle web site they have a chart covering the year and when its full. There is also resuce there(jetski) they are pretty switched on and look after you, not sure about price, 30euro, per rescue if not booked, again cheeper if booked for a week. If travelling with the missis, there is a bar and snack bar with sun loungers, very good centre with all you need for the day, kiters and non kiters, also there is a free air line so no need to take you pump.......
