Hi folks

 

I know this is a long shot but if you don't ask, you don't get !

 

I am working at the moment with a group of kids who's brother or sister has a learning disability and is violent towards them. I am working in giving them strategies to be safer at home. At the moment there are 30+ kids on the register.

 

All in all these kids don't have a easy life at home and part of the project I have recently been involved with (not my making the praise goes to others) is something called a SIBS group.

 

The group runs once a week in the holidays to allow the kids to get out of the home environment and be kids again, as always there is no funding for this. The local school lets them have the school and anything in there to use which is marvellous but the more activities they have the better.

 

I would like to take the kids out from time to time in small manageable groups and let them have fun flying kites and even try with a board. I am sure they would would gain so much from this.

 

so ...

 

Does anyone have any old but safe kit hanging about they would like to give to a good cause?

 

The kids range from tiny 6 year olds to not so tiny 16 year olds so a mix of sizes would be fantastic.

 

Or if a mod reads this would flexi like to support the initiative - I am sure the local NHS newsletter would do a write up

Without a doubt on a regular basis as the need for such activities will never go away

Indeed i am and i am sure they will help where they can.

 

I haven't approached them as yet as I wasn't really after new shiny stuff, just stuff the kids can have fun with and forget their home life.

 

And support even in a small way from a whole community will have more impact on them and their self worth than support from one shop .. if that makes sense ..

Gaz let me know if you want a board - i have been meaning to put my airdeck back together and get rid of it out of my wardrobe, i've also got the deck from a flexdeck which probably isn't much use but if you have some spare trucks and wheels you can have it.

 

I might ask for an occasional loan should i ever meet you at baiter though

Yeah always looking for people to help but would need a full CRB check and stuff.
