Hopefully you are going to the south coast of the UK, otherwise you may have to suffer some disappointment, Cornwall is often pretty good for beach watersports as it enjoys warmer waters from the gulf stream, and Pool harbour/chisel beach are very popular.

For any UK based water sport a good quality wetsuit is essential.

Outside the south coast of UK then there is some kite surfing on the North coast of Wales, Llandudno south beach has a couple of resident nutters who are known to brave the Irish sea most times of the year.

When your tired of getting frozen then there is the Mediterranean Sea, pick your location they are all pretty much the same, Spain, South France, Italy, Greece with a climate more like Vic/NSW you will quickly defrost.

Redcar beach in the north east is supposed to be awesome

Been there plenty myself and bloody cold but lots of wind, never kitesurfed there tho, just one failed bruising buggy attempt!

While in spain last September(mid) there was still a handful guys kiting at that time of year there (wind: 16-18kts type feel on shore, location: Marbella, south of Torrveija, Alicante, and Santa Pola del Oesta - Valencia is a nice looking city right on the beach north of Alicante, but i did not stop there because its apparently full of pom  )

Wave wise, i saw basically nothing - and the sun doesnt go down until about 830pm there at tha time of year......and its up at 7am - Nice :good:

I can't speak for France, but im sure there's more kiters/people there then on the Costa Blanca area in Spain. But its europe - theres kites everywhere :clapping: So, Spain and France for summer, because of the med - french/swiss/italian alps for snowkite winter.

Dave :drinks:

PS: Best of luck with living in the UK mate

Although Corwall is well know as the best surf conditions inthe UK, the wind is not particularly consistent. The most consistent winds are further up the west coast in Ireland and Wales or in the south east. I live in the south east and during the summer months we have usable wind over 80% of the time

Also dont be too worried about he sea temp, its pretty cold at the moment due to a freezing winter (sea dropped to 3 degrees!) but in the summer the sea reaches 18/19 degrees.

Here is some info about the two best beaches on the south east coast: Kitesurfing south coast

Watergate Beach, North of Newquay/Porth , is where the most kite surfing and buggying I've seen,in Cornwall and there is a kite school on the beach.

As mentioned earlier Brighton has a big kite scene.

and my only other tip is for France...Hossengor I think it was called on the mid West Coast.

Surfing/kite surfing in UK is errr "character building" I think they call it.....Enjoy!
