Spudley Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 Well I couldn't wait. Had to give it a go. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2568/4151901251_f690438451.jpg First tube. Look Mum one hand! reckon you might want to use a knot nearer the kite on those back lines;) Quote
snap1 Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 Hey Spud, Yea will see how I feel in the morn, looks like it could be a nice day 4 it! Not sure you have my current work mob so will txt u in a bit, still have the old number but don't turn the phone on much .... Quote
Noo Noo Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 Any joy? Had an ok session on Saturday with the new kite. Hmmm I'm in trouble, I want another one. I just feel really confident with it. Sunday was daft. Tried but didn't last long squall after squall. Cold wind too. The hail storm and wind hitting 50mph finished me off. Quote
Spudley Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 Got out at Hillhead. Overpowered on the waroo. Pumped up the 8m, was ideal, wind eased off a bit so back to the 9 for some jumps:) Sun was out and not too choppy. Quote
Noo Noo Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 NN, how is the new kite? it's given me some real problems Marko 1. Do I fly it on 21m or 24m lines? Jumps bigger and better low end on 24m but the zip on 21m is fantastic. 2. I think I want an 8m 3. How do I afford no. 2 above. I'm seriously happy with it. I just need to sort the 21m / 24m lines bit. it jumps really well and just gives you heaps of confidence. Within an hour of using it I was trying some unhooked stuff (badly) but the kite is so easy to hook back in with. if I don't progress with this kite then the problem is the organic mush holding the bar. I finished the day in light winds (barely holding ground, if at all) nailing a full on back loop kite loop. Had me whoopin like a 3 year old. Awesome feeling seeing the kite climb back up the window as you land. (the right way up too! ) The only downer is they're shipping bars having not addressed the suicide leash connection on the bar. It will come as a retro fit I'm sure. Sightly awkward when I'm starting to actually use it! Otherwise the new bar is one of the best I've seen. Little details have made a huge difference. Quote
Noo Noo Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 Are we having a Christmas meal people? I'm thinking next week / weekend perhaps Quote
snap1 Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 Yes sounds like a good idea NooNoo! Spudley, sorry I could not make it with you hope you had a good time, I had the dreaded manu flu and Mon / Tues off work , cold water would have killed me lol, I was ruff for the xmas party too LOL. snap1 Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Right guys, I need to start looking into replacing my quiver, currently 5m RRD, 7m Instinct light, and the old 9m Gasstra. Not really happy with any of um. May hang on to the 5 because of the wave system but otherwise its mentally quick + not worth much. Wanted to go bigger than the 9 so may be looking at a newer 7 and 10/11. Don't want to rush and make a poor purchase again, hence thoughts now. Always keen to see what you guys think, Marko how do you get on with your 09 Ozones? Colyn, would be interested to see what deals you could do with OR. May have to have a test drive on your 11 one day... O dear what am I letting myself in for + I have just ordered a new Trampa board Quote
Noo Noo Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Christmas mayhem begins. Crimbo bonus perhaps! My advice is lets go and get a quiver of the same thing. No worries Snap bud have a blast on my 11m anytime. I wouldn't go bigger than the 10m though. Just no need. Get you going in 15mph no worries, my 11m has a similar bottom end for me. Most people are building the following quivers with them. 2 Kites = 11m / 7m or 11m/8m or 10m/7m or 10m/6m 3 kites = 11m/9m/7m or 12m/9m /7m I haven't heard of anyone going bigger than 12m with 10m and 11m being the norm. There's an 09 6m on ebay at the moment. Awesome kite. I've tried one and it's a cracker so have a look at that one for sure. That would replace your 7m and 5m. Anyway enough kite rabble save it for the pub. A meal people. Are we doing dinner before Christmas? Quote

O dear what am I letting myself in for + I have just ordered a new Trampa board Hi Snap, the 09 Ozones are good kites... my only mistake was buying to small. Should have gone for the 14 and a 10, not a 12 and the 8. Actually I'm thinking of selling them both and getting some sizes that better suit my 85kgs. Quote
snap1 Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Thanks for the recommendation guys, marko would be interested to know how much you may want to part with the ozones, might be pretty close to the original 7/11 I was looking for. Also keen to see what the new OR is like. I always assumed that I would buy second hand and i.e. a year or more out due to the cost, but well see Keep those eyes peeled Quote
mark o Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Jeez, price. I had not really thought about that. Looking around at the moment there are some pretty good discounts available meaning you could get the pair new for as low as £1151. Guess as both of mine are in good condition other than the black patch over the pin hole the stupid girl at hayling caused when she landed them.... do not get me started on this topic! I digress, I reckon around £850 for the pair. Quote

Would be good to grab a go on them sometime to see if it's the kite for me. I do like the Instinct 08 but just not so keen on the 5th line setup on them. I have always been a huge fan of Ozone kit. What model are they, light or sport? Forgot to say but 1 big feature I am looking for is a spinning system without compromise to the safety! One pump would be good too Quote
mark o Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) They are Light XC's. Next time we are at the coast you can have a try. Edited December 16, 2009 by mark o Quote
Noo Noo Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Well at the moment it seems only myself an Paul are hungry. I scoot up to Wales for Christmas on Monday evening. Time is short so an idea if people are actually interested and when they are available would be a start. Quote
mark o Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 I'd be available definitely, any evening this week. Wind looks to be perhaps up for something on Sat/Sun if we are lucky so perhaps we could combine a coast trip with some food? Quote

Other than that could be a cold dip followed by a hot curry. That should do me in nicely Quote
snap1 Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Can't do Sunday PM but otherwise I think I am good. Re: kite surfing on the weekend, eek I just look at the temperature, and looks like it may snow sat LOL Quote
Noo Noo Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Right. Saturday evening then. Marko, Snap, Spuds all up for that? Not sure the wind is behaving for a freezer session now though Quote
Spudley Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Hi Guys, Afraid i am working pretty much right up till Xmas-eve. I am off tonight but am going out with the family. I am all kitted out for sessions below 10c but quite how far below 10c remains to be seen:o Have a good one anyhow, i'll keep an eye on the thread and the weather and might attempt a red bull session if you are still going. Quote
mark o Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Freezer session is fine, like Spud I'm all kitted out to handle these temperatures. At least for a short duration. Saturday is looking nice with westerly's and Sunday is also looking good but with sunshine forecast. Quote
Noo Noo Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 I'll keep checking the forecast by I've only seen 14mph on a North Westerly swing to a westerly on Sunday but still without any real guts in it. 14mph! Really????? Quote
mark o Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Looking at the metoffice they are forecasting sunday as westerly 17-20mph with gusts up to the 30s. Might turn out to a michael fish forecast thou'. Quote
