Fat Bloke Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Hillhead has a small land area, gets very crowded, and the wet wobbley stuff :-) It's where young Ollie used to hang out ............be careful out there ;-) Quote
avspider Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 I thought Hillhead was a stretch of water area? Are there two different areas then? where you flying today mate? I fancy watching lol Quote
T595 Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 Um, i didn't go out. Hillhead was heaving today and landboard / static flyers are banned from the grassy area due to conflicts with the kitesurfers.... I have to say though that the kitesurfers who were flying there today we doing so slightly irresponsibly. Launch on the grass, jump over the wall & path to the beach very near people walking by, none of this wait until the area is clear then walk across, some kid even cleared the little wall and path to land half way down the beach next to the water when there were kids running about! Some good kitesurfers down there though once they were on the water. But to be honest, from where i live to fly at hillhead is just a little too far especially to fly in a crowded area like that, once i'm up to speed then possibly but even then who knows. Quote
avspider Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 It seems the last gasp the weekend was a little mad, esp as the several of them were doing 60+ mph! Quote
g0nz01599968659 Posted November 3, 2009 Author Report Posted November 3, 2009 As for WS, i'll have a look as i suppose i can change in the toilet block i suppose. I really wanted to fly the kite on land before hitting the water to get the feel of it. LOL - you big jessie, just let it all hang out & change by the car;) Quote

troy1599968664 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 we were up at abe and chris' training ground today but it was shite, much better yesterday at the start. i think wednesday is our next best yet tbh and hopefully itll be a good direction. Quote
martin Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 Ports down hill is on the cliff that you can see from Port Solent. Go past the rear entrance of the QA hospital, climb the hill to the roundabout & double back on yourself along the cliff top. Turn off into the Churchillion pub & go through their car park into the field car park. It's small & scary with the wind coming over the hill. Quote
mp35 Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Back from Durban and the Middle East. Damn, it's cold here. How thick does the neoprene need to be now? Bramblemet says the water temperature is 13C, which in theory isn't bad, but what's the wind-chill effect? Quote
troy1599968664 Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 minus 50 million lol. i went in a week or so ago and that was cold with a 4mm wetsuit. that was warm in comparison to this week. it really has gone cold since Quote
