Thinking 'Endurance' event, so its by GPS logged distance not laps...

So in a similar manner to the way the 24Hr works the illuminated markers are a suggested course not a race course.

FULL ON competitive racing in the dark would just end up as CaRNaGe!

Think you may have to be carefull with the suggested course rule.

Was 1 or 2 pilots doing that during the 24hr not good when travelling at speed towards a mark to find a pilot on the wrong side of it heading towards you.

was out last night for just over an hour and did 30km then someone set up down the beach and stole all the wind!

Still it beats my abysmal effort at the weekend

Looked good around 8tish sand shifting cross on :D

Yep Tommy it was noted by me that some pilots had taken the no need to pass the mark on the right side correctly as permission to ignore even trying to do so and were arriving 20-40 feet upwind of the mark near the pits. Now as this meant they traveled up wind to get there it was obviously intentional rather than because they could not make the mark.

I think next time I will have to make it obvious that it is only ok to miss the upwind mark (and even then reasonable effort should be made) and that if on a reach or going down wind you must pass it on the correct side.

Couple of other issues I think need to work more on addressing were

1) if a pilot downs a kite on the course it is almost impossible to see it and more worryingly the lines from the pilot to the kite and this is a obvious hazard another pilot could hit.

2)Need to work on a effective signalling system to call eveyone into pits When wind died and kites started to fall out of sky as per above issue I felt it would of been safest to stop everyone until enough wind but had no easy method to do this. Fortunately the wind picked up and every one started moving again so never became a issue.

Obviously this is only the second time we have done night time flying and so still learning all the possible problems (At least we got the lights right this time)

I think before we consider running a full scale night time enduro it would be good to arrange a few saturday evening mini races over the winter period to try and look at ways of resolving the issues and any others we think of.

met Bbug and even towed him back when he snapped a line and i was on the trusty 1.8 rage on handles no strop, hard work

Thanks Nick, for the help today. It must have saved me a good mile of walking. Methinks now that a buggy bag with a few handy bits in (a tow rope, for instance) is a very good idea. Will look into this. Maybe start dropping hints come birthday/Christmas time!

Thanks again, and it was good to meet you.

I Think this weekend is part of the landyachting national championship, so if going down parking will be very tight so prom will have to be used.

great! I'll bring the X-sail and join in;):D

thank's for the heads up. You venturing out or are you playing trains this weekend?

Is anyone from Hoylake area going to the Summer Jam? I need a favour ...

Steve.

Depends what the favour is. We're not heading down until the Sunday (at the moment, but trying to go earlier), so if you need something for the whole weekend I can't help. I'm also fully loaded as it's a three week holiday I'm starting, so if it's a kite, fine, but a buggy, no chance.

Paul.
