Batho_777 Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Bit of an intro:- So welcome to the Wirral Sand Yacht Club Thread. The club was formed in 1989 as a result of local demand. It is affiliated to The British Federation of Sand and Land Yacht Clubs (BFSLYC, or 'The Fed') which arranges our insurance, officiates at a series of national regattas and selects the British team for european/world competition. The club sails on the East Hoylake Bank, a vast sailing site off the coast of Hoylake on the Wirral, which is one of the best sites in the country Founded originally by a group of local sand yachters, the club welcomed parakarters (class 8, kite-buggies) into its membership, and all members share the facilities at the club headquarters and the sandbanks. For more information on the club please visit http://www.wsyc.org.uk/ Quote
Plezzy Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Just been for a stroll along the prom. Dry strip towards Redrocks end of Prom, but everywhere else wet. Hopefully today's tide will have been the last to breach for a while. Fingers crossed for Sunday. Quote

Mouthwash Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Hi All Just to let you know I won't be renewing my membership this year. I've posted on Yahoo if anyone is interested! In the mean time - fly safe and I'll see you on the Bank for the open events. Chris Quote
jeffrington Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Yeah, im afraid i wont be re-joining this year either for various reasons, sure i will see most of you on other beach's though. Happy New Year Quote
Simon Bailey Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 As most are aware, I also won't be a member of the WSYC in 2009 as I've not heard anything regarding a final decision after submitting my defence, but I think that tonight is the first comittee meeting since the AGM. In light of this, I have accepted an offer, by CLSC, to be their race officer for 2009 and I will be running a club race series with Deiter, who I'm sure will or has published the dates. I understand the difficult job that those officiating at the WSYC have and I wish you all success in the coming year - You never know, we might even be able to organise an inter-club event... Quote
