  1. what if your trying to pull of something like a 360? i generally find this easier than just up/down jumping because i find a natural turn with my body as i jumpo. probably something i do with the kite!. at the moment im flying a firebee 6.5 as wind is enough for blade2 where i am. i find that the kite is usually slightly behind me when i jump, and then once ive landed, the kite will have totally collapsed in the sky, wasting 10 minutes of my time untaglind it. MAN that kite has WAY too much bridle! any tips?
  2. id say the JoJo range make some amazing buggYing kites, cos theyre amazingly made and quite cheap as well! for buggering i suggest you look at ann summers!
  3. dont you have to 18 to be insured alone, and being only 17 i think ill only be covered under family insurance, thats the problem, so i was wondering if i needed my dad, being the policy holder to be present for it to be legitimate?
  4. well im thinking about it will have to see when im free and about getting there as i cant quite drive yet, so may be able to get dad down there if im lucky. if not how close is the station at grately or is there one closer to the exact location as i may come down with my brother. re: insurance, if my dad gets it to cover me and my brother, whose 14/15 (cant remember!) does he need to be there as proof or will be OK together with membership card? also, if im too powered up, which could be the case, how do some people go seriously fast without getting chucked out the side!?
  5. im not exactly sure which model it is but it says ET 5.5 on the bag and instinct across the kite itself. i dont find the problem is that i go too far upwind, as i try to keep the kite perpendicular to me, maybe slightly infront, but its still a CHORE to gain some ground after steaming off in a downwind direction. ill try fiddling with the brakes to see what i can get out of it, but the bullet is on a 4line bar with the elastic on the brakes so cant do much with that also, where is the best place to hold the handles. obviously there is a preference factor but is it better to hold them out front while going upwind or keeping them in towards the back wheel, to keep the power back?
  6. hmm that hadnt occured to me. so does having a bit of brake on just keep the kite inside the edge of the window so it can pull the kite back and keep it powered up? im guessing that means that then the kite will just through the edge of the window and fold out the sky. ill give that one a shot when i go home
  7. This may have been covered may times but i want to ask anyway. In light winds its easy enough to slowly potter upwind and gain some ground, but in heavy winds i find it absolutely impossible to get back upwind while buggying, because i can never get the kite in the right place so i just overtake it and get pulled out the buggy. i usually go out with the bullet and i know its meant to be great in buggies, which it is, except i can never seem to ever make any ground upwind, same with the JoJo. Are there any settings i can change to make them more powered up at the edge of the window so that it will pull me upwind without the buggy skidding out backwards or having OBE's!?
  8. if your up for a 1 1/2 hr journey, come down to southampton - calshot/netley seem pretty nice and good...well big shingle beaches to set up on. also christchurch (slower train..get off nr bournemouth) is a really nice place, though im not sure whether there is enough space on the beach for kites and everything because of the groynes....in fact scratch that there is a nice place the other side of the spit where there are some guys most of the summer...look for Avon Beach in christchurch..along S Coast.
  9. i got what you see though the 4m is on the way to a new owner and im waiting payment details for the 4.9 so im getting somewhere. ive also got a little american made 2 line power/stunt kite though i cant remember who made it but it nice when you feel like something different. i think ill be up for a bego next summer if i earn some money!
  10. although i hear good things about the bego, id go for the 4.9 as i think it may cover a larger wind range, although i think the bego does have some really good things going for it. just out of interest where do you sail 9ers? i was thinking about getting into the circuit, but noone near me has one. mind you some guy DOES have an int. moth in my boatpark OH YEAH - gonna find out soon who that is
  11. new bladeIII handles are pretty lush and soft but i find that the lines tend to dig in on the index fingers, something i dont find on skinnier hanldes, eg the rasail ones, even though they are quite tacky!
  12. just wndering, would you advise attaching a mini strop through a harness for ease, or are they better round your back? i was just thnking about bodging something between the handles to take some pressure off my arms in the higher winds?
  13. you gotta have big cojones to do something like that! i hope he didnt break his left ankle on landing. it looks like its gonna be snapped off sideways!
  14. al my kites are AMAZING in the buggy. i admit i gotta learn to use the blade better for it, but the JoJo is by far the best...it can pull like a REAL train and can sometimes even generate some lift if you get the technique right. 3.5 bullet is good learners kite too, and works in a REALLY wide wind range
  15. personally i dont reccomend kite killers for advanced flyers.obviously they are good for learners who will spend lots of time letting go until they can control the kite well. HOWEVER experienced flyers tend to use them when they would otherwise be packing up cos there's too much wind, but instead they use the KK's and carry on...meaning they are basically flying when overpowered. in my view this is pretty dangerous, as the high winds could EASILY send you flying into a hard strucure. letting go at this point just leaves you with broken limbs as you crumple to the ground in a heap. not my idea of a fun day out, really.
  16. dont dosh burburrys. they used to actually make some really nice stuff..till now you get the full on stupid scarves, hats and all that rank crap they produce now. i almost remember the days when companies like hacketts and burberry were seriously exclusive. (that was AGES ago...!) now any old commoner looks like a prat in it! its quite funny now none of the bloody townies have no social tact whatsoever!
  17. 4m is more than enough for 8 stone. that is bloody tiny. youll get nailed. with a god technique youll be happily floating over the house.. ahh technique. ive got a 4m bladeIII and was in a reasonable wind today, but only really managed to get about 5ft off the ground. i mainly do pendulum jumps, i dont really see the point in flying it too far across the window cos it just messes up. anyone got a textbook technique for it for MAXIMUM air? i can rarely get some huge jumps..unless its blowing a gale, and thats just down to brute strenght. also..what is the 'swing method'
  18. i never wore padding. im one of the people mentioned in that flexifoil kiting bible who dont break easily. im no pussy, but ive never broken a bone, and for some reason cant really get high enough kitejumping to do so. (knocked myself out a few times though!) - biking accident -twice. 2 BAD cuts - top of thumb(cut it off with screwdriver) and side of arm (fell out of blowcart on schoolie parade ground) never broken a bone though - touch wood on head>
  19. this may appear a stupid question, but as i only fly smallish kites, this is really something new to me: what exactly ARE depower systems? i hear that they cant be attached to fixed bridle kites like blades ( i no what that much means) but what exactly do they do (which may be a bit obvious) what is the benefit of it? by the way i didnt actually make this post at 7:30 this morning. im not THAT sad...
  20. im gonna give windsurf harness a shot. gonna bodge a bar for the blade and see what its like for kiting. i seriously say (although noones said anything about it yet) that sailing harnesses are the best, as they come as saet harnesses, have metal spreaders for kk's, bendy hook for security, but you can still remove your bar attachment, (so long as it is quite stiff, not just a piece of rope) - like the flexifoil ones are good. hope my bar works!- will it be better for jumping you reckon?
  21. hmmm bullet gave me my first huge jumps...terrfying stuff, but needs a good gale. however id say go blade or similar, cos the chances are youll want a board or something after your totally addicted, so the blade will be useful there. bullet will pull ok tho, and is better if you want to go into the realms of buggying
  22. if you can use parachute lines which arent gonna break and which are fecking hardcore...anyharness can keep you safely in..or its a hazard, so i cant REALLY see any danger when at sea, providing youve got an offshore breeze...and someone to pick you up.
  23. there is never any wind at by bloody school. i have to get up at 7:15 anyway. we usually get siberian winters with some hardcore gales down the river (stour) but now theres sweet F.A in the summer. i went out today with a northerly, but it was bloody gusty coming over the school buildings and kept shifting. al i managed was a measly 4-5ft...and that was with bent legs and LOTS of running! i wish there was somewhere worthwhile to go. i hate this godforsaken country. no sun. no snow. no wind!
  24. come to christchurch (nr bournemouth)....go to avon beach. there are some rogues down there you can hook up with who go out in all condition. its amazing to see them fly
  25. whoops. i meant you fold the front wheel into the seat..oops. i think i may have misuderstood the whole concept of folding buggy!! - got it now though. damn good buggy though!
