I didn`t have any problem fittling a speedo to my board either. The magnet is a circular type which fixes onto a spoke (similar to yours johncleeseknees i think). I put a small hole in the end of the valve cap and attatched it straight onto that without any modification. My speedo is a VDO from halfords and works a treat :)

riding with the kite in front of you is always heelside (weight on your heels) whether you are going forwards or fakie (backwards). when you want to turn the board around and come back the way you came, you can turn 180 downwind and now you are riding toeside (weight on your toes) this is more difficult and the kite is behind you!! But instead you can pull a 180 powerslide the opposite way (cancelling out the turn) so you are again riding heelside.

do you mean that travelling toeside is awkward? with practice it becomes easier or, you could pull a 180 powerslide instead and travel back heelside as well.

Well, I just got in after the most powered seesion to date!!! the weather websites tell me that winds of 25mph (gusts of 38mph) where blowing when I was out. I managed to get a speed of 21mph (bike speedo) without even swinging the kite, I was just holding it in the zone!! At this speed it felt quick but not dangerously quick (no wobbles!!) but taught me a lesson, I need to find a bigger field especially with what happened next!!! I was taking a breather with the kite on the ground and staked out when it took off and began to spin wildy. I imediately grabbed the handles (full brake) to land the thing again when suddenly it powered up and the handles where pulled from my hands!!! :eek: :eek: I watched as my Buster disapeared over a house on the edge of the field and into the street behind. I quickly ran round and found the thing in the road (quite street thankfully). I packed up and left straight away putting everything into my boot very red faced. I will look back at this moment and laugh, but at the time.... :D :D

You won`t go too far wrong if you go for either a Scrub or MBS budget boards. Also check out Ebay for some real bargains (there a couple of Lion Canyons on at the mo), ive seen loads of people on there who`ve bought a board, had an accident and then sold them after only using it a couple of times out. If you lucky you may be able to pick up a bargain.

First get your girlfriend her own kite and let her get used to conrolling that before thinking about the board/buggy debate. I personally chose a board because I can use it without a kite, they are cheaper, are easier to transport and most importantly they are great for performing cool tricks on but really its just about personal tastes as to which you choose. Find some local kite flyers and ask if you and your lady can have a go with their equipment, they usually are very willing if you can control your kite well enough. Dig an underground bunker and make sure you have plenty of supplies so you can hide out for as long as it takes!!!

ah, the labours of love. Well sweet looking buggy mate, nicely crafted forks too. :) How long did your buggy project take? and how much of you hard earned did it cost?

Just when I thought i`d seen plenty of extreme kite flying someone comes along and makes me feel like a right wimp!! Respect!!

If you ride in Washington D.C. does it become an "Eastern Seaboard"?

Ive got a Furnace Creak board and I love it. The Silver Reef is almost identical ( skate style instead of channel trucks) so I would imagine that it is a similar ride. The Reef is a bit lighter than the Creek (due to trucks) so it`s probalby more manouverable but, i`m fairly heavy so I went for the beefier trucks!!

I too have never tried boarding with a two liner but, as long as the wind is strong enough to get your kite/kites pulling you then I don`t see any reason why you couldn`t have a go at boarding with them!!

hiya FlyingManxMan, My sister lives over there on the island (i`m in Lancaster) and I regularly come over to visit, the wind there is really good:) Where abouts do you fly? Next time i`m over i`ll come down and check out some of the spots you`ve found

You sure can get boarding with a 3m kite m8:) ive had 16mph out of my board so far but i reckon i can get over 20mph in the right conditions with my 3m. Bigger kites make it easier for getting back up wind but with practice and good wind theres no reason why you can`t do it all with your 3m. Anyway, if you can learn with a smaller kite it will make your skill better for when you go larger. As for boards. Kheo Flyer Scrub Furnace Creek
