  1. Definitely recommend anybody going to Fuerte goes down to Jandia in the South. As Wookie says, it's mainly Dutch and Germans, but I've started to see it advertised in Irish/English holiday brochures. The beaches are the best I've ever seen, even better than Oliva beach outsde of Correlejo. Great winds too!
  2. Also use http://www.theyr.net .... best and most accurate forecast I can find ... also has animation facility to see changes in wind direction
  3. I stayed here a few years ago ... appartments in Correlejo. I always hire a car, and it was very reasonable. For the family, I definietly recommend staying in Correlejo as it's the biggest town and has more to do than other towns. The island is small enough to allow you to drive to your lessons easily enough. What's a course costing anyway and how long does it last?
  4. Just purchased the Speed Seat with the Reactor Spreader bar (pulley) ... total price of €130 including P+P from http://www.cleanlinesurf.com ... that's about £91 ... much cheaper than delivery from UK for me. This is a good harhess and very comfortable. I think the Wahine is for ladies.
  5. Folks, I've been a 'landlubber' to date, mainly buggying with handles, not bars. I'm intent on getting out on the water this summer coming and have a second hand directional board on the way. Anyway I'm looking for a LEI suitable for the variable conditions we have here on the East Coast of Ireland. As I haven't done kiteloarding yet, I intend to do a course which may guide me towards the right kite. However I can pick up a brand new 12m Mach1 complete with lines and bar from a shop here for EUR500 (about £330). This guy is doing a clearout and I need to know should I bite this guys arm off at this price or wait until the summer and get a better feel for kite sizes and systems?? Is this too much kite for a newbie?? Has the standard F-One bar got a decent depower system which will stop me killing myself. If this is too much kite, should I look for something like a Trio or the new Boxer. What about the Recon system on the new Cabrinha's?? This sport seems to be moving very quick and a lot of new safety systems being introduced quickly. A little help in making this decision please.

    buggy seat

Be careful ... the XR seat has proved unreliable for many .. mine is already falling apart (back torn and front strap became detached)... the Flexifoil version may be a better choice!!
  7. Folks, Have done buggying all summer and want to give boarding a go. I was thinking of trying to get into this cheap as I've already spent a bucket load of money this year. For a board .... I've though about either a Scrub Lion Canyon or BluEarth BE351. Both of these go for about £100 new. Any strong views of one over the other? Would these be OK to start with or am I wasting my money??? It looks like I'll need a bar for better jumps etc. I have no idea what to get here as I've only operated on handles to date. I'm also think of having a go with kitesurfing next summer with my Blade. Therefore I've looking for a 4-line bar that can reverse the kite/apply brakes. Any advise and indications of prices please? Thanks in advance.
  8. Folks, I got a PL XR in July and have used it only about 10 times to date. I am finding that the seat is already coming apart in places .... one of the straps has come off and the seat is splitting a little at the rear. Have any of you had problems. What were they and what response did you get from retailers? Has anyone tried repairs and what did you use? Regards,
  9. I've only flown the Bullet once, but I think my 2.1m LD is great for windy days. Build quality is excellent. Great lines and handles. Pulls great.
  10. Helen, I also have an XR and suggest you just leave a spanner in the car and undo the two nuts on the square section just forward of the seat .... and remove the foot pegs ..... takes 2-3 minutes and you end up with two sections which should easily fit in most boots as it won't be too deep. No need to take off tyres! It takes me a lot longer to fit my bike carrier ... though it's not a towbar one ... it uses those goddam straps. It might be a good idea to borrow a bike carrier to try it out. I think you'll find it a lot less hassle to simply strip of the front section. Regards,
  11. Thanks for all your help ...... Regards,
  12. Folks, While I'm not new to kite flying, I'm new to buggying .... only 5 days out to date. Beats the hell out of golf though .... I have a question ... I was out yesterday in gusty conditions .... going fine with my LD2.1. Every now and again, the wind would die for 10-20 seconds, the kite would fall and all I could think to do was roll on a few feet, then steer downwind a little for when the kite would power up again to avoid being dragged sideways/backwards. Is this the right technique?? ... should I be flying higher on gustier days:confused: ... your advise please.
  13. This is horses for courses ..... I find that if the kite is clean and dry going into the bag (and I know I won't have to detach for cleaning/drying), parapacking is faster on the way in and out of the bag and personally I don't get as many tangles as long as I'm careful packing. Time it for yourself and see. However if I just dumped he kite into wet sand (often the case:( ), I prefer to wind onto the handles so that I can detach later, but I often end up with more twists using this. I'm actually thinking of going back onto a winder when I have to do this ....anyone else with the same problem? Isn't it great that we can now reclaim the beaches ... the crowds have gone .... roll on buggies!! Regards,
  14. Boater .... I thought you were mad ... there was no way in the world I was pulling the brakes .... but this evening I went out and couldn't believe it .... I noticed that unconsciously I had too much tension on the brakelines ... you really need to hold them differently than when standing on terra firma. Anyway ... moved the main lines up to the next knot on the handles and problem solved ..... well at least it's not the brakes anymore ... just the goddam driver. Thanks for the help! Regards,
  15. Folks, A little help please .... new to buggying .... out with my B2 4.0m in lightish wind ... pulling well in window ... into buggy ... off we go ... kite moves back in window, stalls and I stop!!! So is this a case of not enough wind .... or do you think I'm heading slightly downwind ..... I was really expecting the kite to move forward in the window due to ' apparent wind'. Am I right in this ? I'm also new to judging kite size. I don't mind stong pull as the kite gets overhead, and scudding a bit on take off ... help sites indicate 6-12 feet as it rises to the zenith. However as the kite is flown more to the edge, I'm not sure if the kite has as strong a pull as at the centre of the window as the buggy gets going. Any help? Any advise, decent sites to visit (or both:))?? Regards,
  16. Folks, Thanks for all the advise. It looks like it's got to be the Blade III even if it means waiting.
  17. Your help please .... I'm going to commit and get a Blade .... my dilemma is that it appears I can get a B2 for about £30-£50 cheaper than a B3. I'm also told I might have to wait for up to a month to get a B3!! Is it really worth waiting.

Hey Unkh, Where do you buy your kit ... still trying to find a good retail outfit on this island.
  20. Hi All, I read in some material that it's good to get 200-300 foot with stackers for ground passess etc. I have 2 x ProTeam 8's and find the 40 m lines too short for decent ground passes. I haven't seen long lines for sale anywhere and was wondering is it OK to simply join to 30m sets at the sleeved ends to get the additional length? Has anyone done this and what method did you use?
  21. Shane, Thanks. Do you know of any good shops in or around Dublin that are competitive?? Prices seem higher here (even allowing for Euro conversions) than in the UK.
  22. Folks, Anyone out there tell me a good source of second hand kit in or around Dublin?? I'm thinking of investing in a buggy and traction kite for the summer but under serious financial pressure (€€€€€) and while I'd like to buy new kit, second hand is all I can afford. Any ideas??
